For a zap to be recorded the wallet being zapped needs to be nip 57 compatible. The wallet needs to verify that that payment was received.
I've seen a few receiving addresses that aren't recently.
But unlike the fiat system, no Bitcoin is going to be printed to make people whole again.
The worst case scenario is that Bitcoin price drops for a while, like when FTX, etc imploded.
If WoS or GetAlby are running a fractional Bitcoin reserve I doubt it will have much affect. The biggest fractional reserve risk is in exchanges or custody providers such as Coinbase & Gemini. Not your keys, not your coins is a lesson to be learned many times.
Custodial spending wallets are not the risk you think they are unless a single service becomes dominant. Bitcoin is permissionless money, it will always be desirable by those who seek to steal from others.
I ain't holding no privacy shitcoin longer than I need to. I'll gladly hold a million sats in my WoS account though. I'll take the small custody risk over the certain loss of value over time.
Bitcoin is money & as a people, we've forgotten what money is.
Bitcoin helps us to remember that money is chosen by individuals rather than imposed by an authority. You can't force me as an individual to value your money.
It also turns out that money is vastly more important than most people realise. Money communicates preferences since value itself is subjective. It is this dance of moving preferences that orientates the activity of humans around the globe. Without money, we have no free markets & no way to communicate our preferences.
Once you figure that out, you realise that this Bitcoin stuff is kind of a big deal.
My opportunity cost for every decision is denominated in sats now. I suspect that many of the "investors" I'd be calling on are similar & would feel that the cost in sats is too great right now.
I expect that in the next 18-24 months, this will change.

Basil & chillis grow really well here. My chillis & Cheyenne peppers from last year are already sprouting & flowering. It's the first day of spring according to the calendar 🤣
