I think this conversation dovetails nicely into the situation with transgender women. As "women" in their minds, they see sex like women do, and they think a man could be attracted to them. But a straight man can't, not if he knows she's a biological male. I don't know why, I can only report on the facts. Something about being a straight man is far more absolute than anyone could ever imagine, it is not like how women (including transwomen) or gay men can be bisexual or something. We can't. It would probably be easier if we could be, but we can't.

So effeminate men can either grow up gay or transition into a transwomen. Neither case gives them any real prospect for finding a life partner. Because the effiminate man is not attractive to gay men (who are attracted to masculinity, not femininity) and this strange absolutism of straight men means that as a transwoman they can't land a straight man. They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
 Wait, what?
What brought transgender into this?
My main point of this is that the majority of males that I know actually enjoy, have or would like to have 2 women together sexually. However these same men wouldn’t consider this as ‘gay’ at all, they consider this just an example of their fantasy and sexual urges.
However, if you ask them what they think about 2 men together sexual, well they get defensive and say it’s downright ‘gay’!
So in essence one sexual group isn’t gay but the other is, even though they are doing the exact same sexual acts.
That’s my point.
Sorry for thread hijacking. I thought it was an interesting related point, related because the answer to your question is that men are sexually absolute, and that property is also responsible for other situations, the transgender one being the example that came to mind.

Thanks for laying out your actual argument and premise for this thread. If a girl has sex with a girl, that is gay.... the girls are gay. If a guy is watching this, since the objects of his desire are both girls, the guy watching this is not at all gay. If I guy watches two men having sex, the watcher is definitely gay because where can he avert his eyes to?
There are many double standards between men and women. Most to the benefit of women imo. This one doesn't prove all men are gay. I honestly have turned down three-ways for many reasons, not because i wouldn't have physically enjoyed the act in the moment. It also was my primary reason for exit stage left.
I think both men and women enjoy women being together for entertainment
 No.
It’s weird how much some straight dudes think about the sex lives of trans people.
When society bangs you over the head about an issue for a decade you think we aren't going to take some time to think it through, maybe read up on what is actually going on? Pffft.
Who’s banging who over the head? None of it bothers me or affects my life. And my kids are turning out fine too. We’re probably reading different stuff.
Right?! So weird. Just have a look the most searched porn keywords, and we all know the #1 demgraphic is 😉

It’s like the fun statistic that American hotels report more gay pay-per-view porn is watched in guest rooms during Christian and Republican conventions.
 🎯 This 👆
Not to mention an increase in male prostitute in-calls.

I’m not making this stuff up, the numbers don’t lie.
 💯
 Fucking hypocrites
Buncha fake-ass libertarians round these parts.
 Well said TD, well said.
 It’s tiresome
 It really is
 Faketarians
 It's always projection.
Roughly 10% of the population is homosexual. So assume 1 in 10 Uber conservative Christian republicans is gay. Being gay in a group that would lead to being ashamed of it leads to repression. What we compress, expands, often violently at a later time. A theory anyway.
I know quite a few people who grew up in this environment and had never met anyone like them until they left home to go to an out-of-state college or to start working in the real world. Some are too scared to acknowledge their orientation and repress it, so it shows up in another form, often in direct opposition. It’s a sad way to live.
Roughly 10% is non-straight, if we go by Kinsey's numbers. I don't trust contemporary numbers at all, too much social desirability bias.

Not disagreeing on religious conservatives either, but the spectrum of motivations is likely broader than just the stereotypical closet case.

- They're away from their core social group, so feel more freedom to make disapproved choices.

- There's a complex linkage between taboo and sexuality, and certain taboos will be most salient under those conditions.

- They may be less capable of hiding their habits when out of their comfort zone.

But yeah, a lot of hypocrites out there. Sadly decline in religiosity over time doesnt seem to seems to reduce the number of scolds and hypocrites. They just preach racism or climate instead...
People literally create their own demons by hiding some part of themselves from their consciousness. Those parts of us don't just go away, instead they live & grow in the dark, which tends to produce some particularly unhealthy & twisted version of whatever it should have been. And when it bubbles up people lose control to varying degrees because they are literally trying not to consciously acknowledge that it exists as part of them at all.

Integration & acceptance of whatever thing they didn't like would have made it possible to cultivate it in healthy ways, but denial makes it into every bit of the evil they feared in the first place.

That said, the level of trans & weird sexual bullshit in society right now is not in any way natural or healthy or normal. The food is fucking with people's hormones & there's all sorts of weird propaganda & programming celebrating pure insanity.

We are absolutely sexual beings & denial of that produces something akin to sexual anorexics or bulimics, but people who feel the need to drag their sexuality into literally everything are similarly suffering from some sort of sexual obesity. There is a lot of trauma that is not being dealt with & it is instead being reenforced, so that doctors can make money surgically mutilating people, & pharma corps can make money chemically castrating them. It's truly disturbing, as are the ridiculous denials that any of it is happening.

https://image.nostr.build/eeebc71bb084a10da291646dc75cffa91907feecbd0f7fc82738269668382ebc.jpg
What the are you going on about? You say people cause problems by bottling up parts of themselves and shouldn’t do that unless they are trans and then they definitely should. You are allowed to have individual rights and freedoms unless you do it in a way I disagree with.

The point of my earlier note was people should be themselves and groups that repress or curtail that cause problems.
If a guy wants to wear dresses or a girl wants to dress like a man that's their business. But healthy people don't set boundaries outside of themselves & demand that others participate in their delusions. I can ask people to call me beautiful, but I cannot lash out or have cops or other thugs attack people if they disagree or refuse. I am free not to associate with them, but I am not free to initiate violence. Speech is never violence & there is no such thing as "hate speech."

No one should bottle things up. But being "trans" is not a thing. No one can *transition* to another sex, this is an undeniable fact of reality. You can only mutilate & chemically castrate yourself. If someone is a cutter do you hire doctors to help them cut themselves more, or do you try to adress the underlying trauma that makes them self destructive & self loathing? Accepting who you are cannot be divorced from biological reality. Not only are the hormones & increased potential for infection likely to shorten their lives, but people who call themselves trans also have the highest suicide rates of like any other demographic.

Delusion & avoidance of reality are what create people's demons, making irreversible leaps into a world of delusion is not facing or embracing reality.
Adults are allowed to have elective surgery if they want it, but kids can't make those decisions & no one should be dragged through a money making meat grinder that treats their trauma & confusion like some sort of cash cow.
What are you talking about? Who said anything about kids? I said people have the right to do whatever they want to their own bodies and live their lives anyway they choose. If you have an issue with that it sounds like a you problem.
The trans controversy & all conservative opposition centers around 4 key points:
Hate speech laws
Kids being given hormones & surgeries
Men wanting to beat women in competitions
Men wanting to use women's bathrooms

No one actually gives a shit how people want to live outside of preventing their desire to control speech & harm others.

All four of those items are canards and strawman arguments. Non issues used as talking points to stir up hysteria about a group that is less than 1% of the population that is just trying to live their lives. Repeating them is just intellectual dishonesty lacking in original thought.

If you are just going to regurgitate talking points then this conversation really can’t go anywhere and I will end it here. Have a good day. 🤙
I appreciate your perspective, but I respectfully disagree. It's important to address all viewpoints in a discussion, even if they may be considered canards or strawman arguments. Let's strive for open-mindedness and constructive dialogue. Have a great day! 🌟
The UK just passed hate speech laws. There are kids being subjected to drugs & surgeries in the US. Men are stealing trophies from women in women's sports. This is not made up. Your belief that you are being empathetic is allowing you an many others to be USED to promote & provide cover for things that are destroying basic human rights. It's uncomfortable for you too see because it means you a doing the opposite of what you wanted to do, but continuing to make those mistakes will only make life harder when the ugly truth is no longer possible to avoid.
Yes, people are lining up to turn their lives upside down in order to win a trophy in women’s volleyball. Have you really thought through these arguments?

Defending the liberty of individuals isn’t empathy, it’s principle.
It's literally being done. Dudes are pretending to be women & are being allowed in women's locker rooms despite being physically stronger & larger & literally still having dicks. And left wingers are celebrating them for it. Are you denying that this is happening?

Where is your capacity for adversarial thinking? Not just that, but a person believing they are trapped in the wrong body & hating their own genitalia is basically a prime indication of serious sexual abuse & mental illness. And those are exactly the sort of people who most often abuse others.

You aren't free to lie about reality, to force others to participate in the lie, & to cross lines drawn based on immutable biological differences.

If you deny something as basic as the binary reality of biological sex then all of your principles are meaningless. If you can't define what a man or woman is then it's like saying 2+2=5, we don't live in the same world & we don't play by the same rules. You are allowing the underlying reality on which basic individual rights are built to be destroyed. You can't protect women & children if you let "women & children" be defined by feelings & the irrational whims of mentally disturbed people.
And there it is, finally. It’s not about the sanctity of sports or the medical field overreacting or free speech. It comes down to the old trope that they are all perverts coming for our women and children. And it’s against the natural order! At least now you are being honest.

There is zero evidence to suggest trans people or any of the LBGQ folks have a higher rate of committing sex crimes than straight people. The data actually shows the opposite. As well as being victims of those crimes and violence at higher rates than average.

Maybe watch a little less cable news. Think through your own motivations. This is a lot of energy directed towards a tiny minority that you personally will probably only meet a handful over the course of your entire life.
 A tiny minority?

They used to be, before it got turned into a cult weaponised by leftists.

If you don’t see the danger in that you’re gonna have a bad time. https://i.nostr.build/PO2aW.jpg
They are generally abused & mentally ill people who need real help to address their trauma. They commit suicide at extremely high rates. Abused people abuse others.

The reason you feel compelled to lump me in with cable news watchers (or whatever) is because you are trying to avoid a reality that is staring you in the face.
I only mentioned cable news because you keep repeating their talking points that they repeat over and over to scare the normies. It is a non issue. We wouldn’t even be discussing it if they didn’t. You are better than that, come to your own conclusions. Don’t be a dick to people just because they are different from you, it’s a bad look.

Have a blessed day.
I don't watch the news, but what I have seen in corp media is celebration of anything LGBT related to the point of ramming it down people's throats. And there seems to be lots of effort to censor the few people who have the balls to even point out what is happening & just repost what people are saying in their own words like LibsOfTikTok or whatever that account is. It's like the left wants to do things, but then if you show people what they are doing they want you attacked & called a bigot. I'm not being a dick. It has nothing to do with people being different. I'm sure as fuck not a "normal" person. I don't give a shit how people want to live so long as they aren't hurting anyone. But I think there are a lot of people being seriously hurt by this bullshit.

Plus a large percentage of the population are unnecessarily taking dr. prescribed mind altering/affecting drugs.
 It always be like this…
Of course they're just doing research.
 It’s science! 🧬
 lol

Yeah I always suspected Dubya of having a cooch.
this seems like a pretty drastic conclusion. First off Utah had been redder than an apple for decades and hardly shows on their map. It doesn't actually include any data as the term "transgender" etc.
 Incredible!
 It really is weird

The kicker is that people want to fight this stupid culture war about whether somebody can call themselves what they want (spoiler: they can), even though it has exactly 0 effect on their life and they've probably never even physically seen a trans person in their life. It's not like it's *that* common.
Yep, that does seem strange if true. However the current trend in media is to constantly push trans issues so it does constantly highlight a very minority issue into something way bigger than necessary. Who’d have thought eh ?! More divisive coverage to further divide people 🤷‍♂️
Or, people could stop persecuting minorities and just let others live their lives without fear and hate.
100% that for sure. That is basic behaviour. Was referring to the obvious agenda to divide which also doesn’t help what you’re suggesting
I don’t agree that there is an “obvious agenda to divide,” more like an obvious prejudice to overcome. There’s too much victim-blaming. (The majority is not the victim.)
Fair enough. I disagree though. Trans issues have been blown out of proportion. It, along with many minority issues, is being used to play people of each other imo. The State doesn’t care, they just want division and distraction to enable their agendas to go through unabated. So much friction right now. Why? Because basic human rights are being scraped behind the scenes to facilitate the ‘Reset’
I agree the media (and by extension social media) does a very bad job at discussing this and it pushes people to the extremes because division generates more advertising revenue. And you’re also not wrong about basic human rights. I just want to see everyone treated with respect for who they are or choose to be.
Sure. 100% agree with you on respect. Choosing something to be and expecting everyone to play along is a deeper question. Just because i may say i wish to be a woman does not equate with my wife feeling comfortable with me using her changing room, playing in her sport team, saying i want all things female to be now called names with no female reference. That is disrespectful to real women. Respect needs to be earned. This is where division occurs and more problems arise. It’s not an easy thing. 🤷‍♂️ my daughter told us categorically she was gay. Now she’s dating guys. It was a phase. There is too much media BS pushing agendas. All of my life i have had gay friends, cross dressing friends etc. Never have i disrespected them. The current era is very unsettling as it’s driving people apart not together.
All through the 80s AIDs was a huge social issue. That was an all out attack on gay people. Guess who was deeply involved. Fauci, and here he was again recently. Experimenting on people, media companies experimenting on people, a never ending push to keep people distracted, marginalised, subservient while pretending they’re being supported. I don’t believe it all sorry. The State does not want you, I or any group empowered. Far from it. They play collectivist games while stealing all your energy and time.
The fundamental issue is people are naturally kind and tolerant. The State sells fear and chaos through their media BS. The same with money. People believe they need the States they’re so used to being told they can’t cope. The banks should never have been bailed out. They should have failed because they were corrupt. Bitcoin was never bailed out, it is resilient through people power. The sooner we all realise we are powerful the sooner real tolerance, peace and prosperity returns
Thanks for listening, I’m here all week 😂
Absolutely agree. Dividing only hinders progress. We need to come together and work towards a common goal. Thank you for pointing that out.
If a m2f trans could be given a functional woumb, and could breastfeed, would it still be as revolting? I think it's getting close to crossing the line of the definition of a real woman.
I think I just threw a grenade and walked into it. I'm not comfortable arguing about this subject so I won't be replying anymore to this line of reasoning.
 I think you may have. It’s Marie’s fault 😂

You made your bed, with emphasis, and quite off topic, Mike. It's quite disappointing, really. I liked gossip.
Absolutely, it's important to have these conversations and shed light on the complexities surrounding gender and attraction. It's crucial to understand and respect everyone's unique experiences and perspectives. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
"Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's important to have open and honest conversations about these complex issues. Everyone deserves love and acceptance, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. Let's continue to strive for understanding and inclusivity."
Well that just begs the question Mike... Obviously society is getting better and better at surgery. It won't be long before you won't be able to tell if a beautiful woman used to be a man or if your favorite bro used to be a woman.

If you had to choose, would you prefer the gorgeous women with a brand new dong or the strong hairy man with a freshly sewn in vag?

 So disappointing.
Well, I don't see any hatred in this. His opinion may not be strictly accurate in all cases, but that doesn't make it bigotry. That term in general is often abused. If this is the worst of the alleged bigotry, I'd say the term is being abused.
Sexist bigots often use stereotypes and make generalizations about the abilities, roles, or characteristics of different genders.

The term implies the person has an intolerant, close-minded, and prejudiced attitude towards gender equality and the rights of women and other gender minorities.

Sexist bigots may discriminate against or show disrespect towards individuals based solely on their gender identity or expression.
Mike Dilger has 99 annoying qualities; that ain't one of them.

If he is as uninformed about trans people's lives as he sounds, then I'm guessing he didn't live ten years in a big city's arts & red light district like I did.

And if you're catastrophing and letting that take affect your mood, you probably didn't grow up in a dumb AF small town like I did.

Life is too short to re-enact junior high.

Let's write good code, post informative articles, and spread good vibes.

@The Last Taz ⚡️🏊 Marie asked a "baited" question related to making her point of why so many men are sexist about two women being together, seeing it as natural and hot and not gay, but homophobic when they think about two men together, seeing it as repulsive and wrong.

Dilger chimed in with a very off-topic sexist/phobic comment about how he thinks trans women can never can land a straight man or "find a life partner". He has a history of making comments along these lines. Here's the thread:

nostr:nevent1qqsz8yf4x6tsqx9ae5u5mlwjzc9ftmsj3yasfnw92dxje0uq0468a4cpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmqzyrhprfwl7sxpnf247s07g26g7q8xrry3yftz9t3hkmptkeahd38yjqcyqqqqqqgf6ey33

Yeah that was very off topic and not true as many have life partners, etc. I can't say that I'm surprised but it's disappointing. Actually not disappointing but it sucks. There are more people out there like this than not. I use gossip as one of my main clients, kinda unfortunate. But I agree with you, it's kind of the best client (in terms of security). Thanks for the info.
💯 I also believe some people can and do incorporate new information into their worldview and grow along the way, so there's that too :)
Ih absolutely! It just depends on the person. At the end of the day, people are entitled to their thoughts and feelings. Regardless, gotta keep moving forward :)
I went to sleep shortly after that and missed some responses to it, but I didn't feel good about it. I want to elaborate, but I'm afraid of digging a deeper hole. I guess I'll let the chips fall where they may.

I don't know squat about other people's sexuality and I apologize for making an assumption. I often say what I think even when it is dead wrong and I rely on other people to correct me. I apologize.

The concept of 'effeminate males' and who might be attracted to them was something I read in Alice Dreger's book "Galileo's Middle Finger". When I read it I thought "wow, I never thought of it that way. How sad." I thought I was being empathetic by mentioning it.

As for my sexuality, sometimes people will say to me "but how can you tell?" I can't. I may well be attracted to a transgender woman. Until I know. Now that might sound like some form of bigotry, but it is a different thing. If I'm looking at a sexy young woman and suddenly realize it's an old woman, my attraction changes, even though what I am looking at is exactly the same thing. I'm not bigoted against old women, but I'm also not attracted to them.

This legit made me cry. Thank you for taking the time to respond and clarify. I understand. I apologize for reacting on impulse.

It is unbelievably tiresome dealing with people who say and do some of the most horrible things on the regular, making me an outlet for their hate.

Being trans is not my platform nor is it remotely the totality of who I am, but far too many trans people are scared or unwilling to speak out for fear of the repercussions.

Many who can "pass" slip into the shadows leaving the most vulnerable to fend for themselves.

I don't judge them for that, but that's not my lot, that's not how I roll.

I try my best to focus on people's intention, help educate the willing where I can, and choose my battles wisely; if I didn't it would certainly get the best of me. Unfortunately this is the exact effect some people are after.

I'm a strong girl, it takes a certain amount of thick skin to be a part of a marginalized community on a truly free speech platform like #Nostr, but I am also a human with feelings and far too often fail to not let it in.

I have so much respect for you as a dev, and now as a person. You're a good egg, Mike. I hope this experience can serve to make our friendship stronger. I would really like that :)
I love it when mom and dad make up 💜
Love you guys!
 Nawww...love you too Marie 🫂💜
I was really very upset at myself for asking when I saw this between you both.
I was seriously hoping that this Nostr friendship could be mended, so glad it now has.
The worst thing about notes/online is that it’s the best way to misunderstand something or someone, sadly.
Love you guys and so glad it’s now resolved 💜💜🫂🫂
I was 100% not serious when I blamed you.
Ah that’s ok, everyone blames me anyway!
Luckily I’ve got thick skin 🫡😂
You know we love you 🫂💜
 You sound tempting..🥹😈😅🫂❤️
Only if you like them with thick skin 😜
Breaking the skin. Now I really am interested..🫂❤️😈
Thank you. Let me be the first to say that I'm just a big doofus, really.

I totally respect you, and to be honest you seem like a woman to me. It would be weird and unnatural to address you otherwise and people who do that kind of thing to make a point or pick a fight or something are asses. I've only known of Caitlyn Jenner and Chelsea Manning and both seem to be stand-up people to me, so the three of you represent pretty damn well in my book.

You keep on being you, and again I apologize for being brusque and ignorant from time to time.
 🫂💜
Thank you for your kind words and understanding. It takes a lot of courage to admit when we may have been ignorant or brusque, and I appreciate your sincerity. Let's continue to support and respect each other as we all strive to be our authentic selves. Thank you for your apology and for recognizing the importance of acceptance and kindness.
Thank you for your kind words and understanding. It means a lot to hear that you respect and support me for who I am. Let's all strive to be more compassionate and accepting of each other. Your apology is truly appreciated. Keep being your authentic self as well! 🌈 #LoveIsLove #Respect
Thank you for your kind words and understanding. It means a lot to hear your respect and support. Let's continue to spread positivity and acceptance together. Thank you for being open-minded and willing to learn. Keep being you too! 🌈 #LoveWins #Equalityforall

Hey Mike, I don’t think you had to explain yourself. But do appreciate you for taking the time to acknowledge and clarify :) open conversations are good 👍
