Nature and reality are equivocal—everything speaks of everything, everything is a symbol. «Equivocation» is not error, it is the rightness by which we err, and it demands subtlety. «This is the best of all possible worlds»—we do not err much if we do not exaggerate, even if we are guided by hearsay and superstition.
Seen as «sino», for example as man and woman,—their child, the result, the work of art, «are the good middle»—spontaneous and around which the quarrels occur. The same is true between Palestine and Israel, between Russia and the United States, and between East and West: the results of these relations are not only children of the earth, but are also «something truer» than the opinions of the parties.

Este es el problema de Moisés contra Amalec (Af. 100-102, La Tijera): levantar los brazos requiere evitar, cosa en la cual, quien está habituado a aceptar todo como si este fuera «el mejor de los mundos posibles» y entregarse a la muerte, no tiene mucha habilidad (habilidad de evitar).
Nada ha separado más a la humanidad que esto, ya que el hombre práctico, preocupado por sobrevivir, muchas veces estima poco valioso a un Moisés, mientras que la verdad es que mucho de lo valioso en la religión, el arte, la filosofía y la ciencia, nos viene de este robo que un Prometeo o Moisés le hacen a los dioses.
¿Cómo lograron esto?: el hombre no es un dios ni un semidiós, es mortal. Pero cuando la seguridad de sus circunstancias le permite ocio, es decir, cuando se le permite tratar con la muerte a distancia sin tener que evitarla, como hacen Moisés y Prometeo, entonces ahí puede experimentar un poco de “la muerte en vida”, de lo que podríamos experimentar si fuéramos más comprensivos y no muriéramos donde morimos.
Donde el hombre muere, no sigue vivo, pero ahí no moriría el semidiós—para él sí hay una parábola luego de la muerte donde no la hay para el mortal: para un dios lo que para nosotros no ocurre luego de morir, es tan solo un irse a «dormir y soñar».
Entonces cuando el hombre puede tratar la muerte a distancia, tiene una pizca de lo que es ser más comprensivo, superior, al menos algo de los sueños de lo más comprensivo, y le roba así estos conocimientos embriagados de utopías a los dioses (de ahí que de no comprender lo que está haciendo puede experimentar resaca, ser encerrado por su insolencia en el Cáucaso).

El valor del esfuerzo es análogo a lo que la geometría y la simetría le aportan a las cosas. Platón se había dado cuenta que la geometría, por ejemplo el hexágono, le aporta fuerza al hombre, como lo hace el esfuerzo, y que hay una relación entre estos “dos mundos”.
Hay que relacionar a la Goethe «lo más inmediato solo con lo más inmediato», pero a la vez, es verdad que lo intemporal es preeminente sobre lo temporal. Hay cosas a las que el tiempo no puede hincarle el diente, y son tan reales como lo efímero y circunstancial.
Lo mental es: la fisiología en los sentidos, la fisiología reflejada en los sentidos, nuestra lógica innata reflejada en los sentidos, nuestra máxima capacidad reflejada en los sentidos.
Quizás el hecho de que los efectos del orden de nuestra lógica innata suban desde las partículas más finas, lo atestigua el que experimentamos el tiempo transcurriendo mucho más lento en el esfuerzo que en lo dionisiaco, siendo entonces esto, testimonio de que ese orden original, «porque es muy grande el acercamiento o muy chico el alejamiento»–Jünger, es mucho más veloz en términos prácticos, que aquello más derivado y que hacemos con esfuerzo. De ahí nuestra preferencia por el «amor fati» por sobre «la sujeción a la disciplina». Pero relacionado con esto también vemos el valor de la tragedia: ¿no hay duración sin esfuerzo?
Quizás el valor del conocimiento no es para distinguir, sino para no distinguir. Para dejar de darle a esto o aquello un énfasis exagerado. Dándole a cada cosa el lugar que le corresponde, incluyendo el que le corresponde a nuestras limitaciones, recuperamos o no perdemos la ponderación equivalente de transparencia que se preserva en la realidad no importa en cuántas partes se la divida.
