RV living to avoid homelessness
https://coloradosun.com/2023/09/29/can-rvs-help-solve-homelessness/
This talks more about staying in an RV park or similar facility. What I see on my daily walk is a couple campers / RVs that move from time to time up and down a side street in a commercial area.
I will also guess there are far more than the 6K or so this story talks about.
The Manhattan Contrarian looks at a Royal Society report about green energy and storage
https://www.manhattancontrarian.com/blog/2023-9-28-a-semi-competent-report-on-energy-storage-from-britains-royal-society
Tens of terawatt hours of storage is needed - "far more than could conceivably be provided by conventional batteries."
A chart of generation is also shown - a 23 year period of relatively good production with a HUGE shortfall that followed as well.
Other good stuff in this story plus a link to the original report near the top.
Alan Dershowitz describing "equal injustice"
https://dersh.substack.com/p/equal-injustice-menendez-indictment
For both Menendez and Trump - the DOJ publicizing the images of what will be evidence is tainting the jury pool and witnesses. It can be that both sets of images are inadmissible in the trial - but the damage is already done.
Plus you have the DOJ requesting gag orders on Trump. Two different sets of rules....
@4206c9f7
But that is a look at the kind of "journalism" this outlet publishes. Yeah - this one is labeled opinion but there are other stories there that are not labeled and about as bad.
It is long past time to mock these kind of stories.
Engoron summary judgement against Trump
https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-letitia-james-fraud-lawsuit-1569245a9284427117b8d3ba5da74249
That is the MDM treatment of this ruling.
You have to go down a bit to find out what the ruling says - in brief
- dissolving several limited liability companies
- turning those assets into a receivership
- Trump attorneys got a $7.5K fine each
- sets up a retired judge to monitor the Trump organization
The trial isn't over - it will continue on several other indictments.
Expect this judgement to be appealed.
Yet another reason to choose your encryption method carefully
https://www.theregister.com/2023/09/26/robot_marvin_rsa/
Another attack demonstrated on RSA. It may even be able to craft a server signature in a TLS handshake (preventing effective use of perfect forward secrecy).
Note at the end - any implementation with general purpose integer arithmetic (several listed) in use can be affected as well.
The Manhattan Contrarian is comparing the Menedez and Pinocchio Joe situations when it comes to bribery
https://www.manhattancontrarian.com/blog/2023-9-25-the-bidens-stone-cold-crooked-10-how-do-you-tell-when-a-payment-to-a-pol-is-a-bribe
Three elements for bribery are
- you get paid with a "thing of value"
- in return for
- some official act that benefits the briber.
That second one is usually the hard part to prove. He isn't sure of the backup in the Menendez case but for Joe it looks pretty clear with the email messages already disclosed.
"Legally safe" AI generated images from Getty

Their model has only been trained on the images from the Getty service. You pay a fee to Getty and you get your image (varying price plans).
We will see if suppliers of images to Getty may sue them.
@ee1d158a
Yeah - I've posted a couple items about it. I ignored the one yesterday about all the secrecy that is involved in the trial. Some of the things (like no TV coverage) is normal for federal trials - but some people want to make a big deal about it.
@ebc06089
Why do you need to change the wifi on the printer. The last time I replaced the router I used the same network name & password. Had to reboot the printer to make everything work but was fine. (really odd that I could open the printer's web page but not print)
I just replaced a magenta printer cartridge and all color prints come out with that color mixed in. Will figure it out after my road trip.
@6b11481b
Maybe too much space for one stall but not enough for two. Or an access issue.
Plenty of width to get into and out of a wheelchair (plus the handles).
@ee76a5c1
Hmm. I was at some local restaurant and they did something similar for the sauces I got with my meal. It was a "Bavarian Dinner" (brats, sauerkraut, and pretzel) - so I got a hot mustard for the brats and beer cheese for the pretzel.
The opposite is Two Elks at the Vail Ski Area. They have a large tray with 50-100 bottles of Choula Hot Sauce to take one to your table.
@76985ca8
How is that different than "StarShield"?
https://www.space.com/spacex-starshield-satellite-internet-military-starlink
If you think about it, whatever they come up with will take time to deploy. The satellites have line of sight to Ukraine for maybe 5 minutes out of a few 90 minute orbits. Then it is out of range for a few hours. Will need hundreds or maybe thousands for good coverage.
@75ee5ad7
Not likely in or near San Mateo. He said more than once he is near Oakland and Berkeley. Plus he has a view of the mud flats.
A quick search for John C Dvorak House brings up an address in Albany CA - which is near the bay & just north of Berkeley.
@d4f294ac
Odd that I can't find my copy. I remember it because a professor at college would read the version in French and translate it on the fly. His translation was just a bit different than the English version we had brought at the bookstore.
Let's tell a story of how screwed up we made the outdoors near Pueblo
https://coloradosun.com/2023/09/17/colorado-carbon-capture-future/
Yeah - it is 91 today in part due to a 2.9 degree increase due to climate change.
Yeah - "carbon" is emitted by the power plants, the cement plant, and so on.
Then let us talk about sequestration and bring up several NIMBY arguments. Like once we stuff this underground it will leak out later.
Sigh.
@341bed5a
Sad that the college I went to almost 50 years ago still requires a vaccine (I checked). Even worse it says that a faculty member could require masks to attend classes.
Idiots!
@d4f294ac
Do I believe? Well, it is the the "official" report according to several MDM outlets.
I am not sure we will ever get the right numbers from that event.
They say the reduction is due to more DNA tests but who knows if that is correct.
@34b3698a
Sad. I had that car for 20 years and 300K miles on it. Yeah - it was four turbos replaced (one under warranty) and MANY other repairs but it was a good car. I gave it away to a charity when moving to Denver because I couldn't justify having two cars for myself.
Okay, this is odd.
I bought a Datsun 280zx in 1981 - the first year with the turbo. I see a Nissan ad for this year's car and it has a "limited availability" note. WTF?
https://www.thedrive.com/news/2023-nissan-z-production-lags-far-behind-due-to-paint-problems-report
Apparently they are having problems making the new cars. I did a search with the Nissan site - they have ONE Nissan Z Performance within 100 miles of Denver (in Colorado Springs). WTF???
Now has a 400HP motor - I thought 200HP was a "pocket rocket" back in the day.
Wow!
@7502a322
Reminds me of some "tough love" I would give my kids when they would fight in the car (Summer in Houston). I would make them stand outside until they settled down.
@e5fdd91a@5c4325ee
Well, a 3lb pound bag of apples (a week's worth for me) is $4.50 in CO. Single apples can be $1 each!
$5 to $8 for a whole watermelon.
@e5fdd91a@5c4325ee
If I had to guess
- $20 for the meat
- $10 for the milk and what's behind it
- $10 for two cans of salmon
- $10 for the bread items
- $20 for the fruits and vegetables
Okay, that's $70. Maybe a premium to buy it in Nanaimo.
@d66a8056
Probably yes.
Especially if you snake the main drain every few years as part of regular maintenance.
What I don't know is if the pasta could act similarly to fats and cause a "fatberg"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatberg
If you have any roots that have gotten into the drain - it could make it worse.
@ee76a5c1
Within 20 miles of "near" - yeah. I would say it is relatively close to the other end of the lake. I think KY thinks it is part of the state park.
@ee1d158a
Yeah - I've posted a couple items about it. I ignored the one yesterday about all the secrecy that is involved in the trial. Some of the things (like no TV coverage) is normal for federal trials - but some people want to make a big deal about it.
