@872ab8e1 keyboard in a baseball cap brim, cap doubles as a phone or tablet holder. Why not.
Just waiting to see the first hat bro doff his ever present cap to set up some ad hoc desk while saying ‘let me look that up’ in some stranger interaction.
@a6ff0b2b Is it only with pets? Just Daisy (and Daisy Mae?) What if it surfaces Daisy May? I’ve gone as far as creating a folder for the subject and naming the folder that name, which I highly doubt does a single thing. It’s the way superstitions form.
@a6ff0b2b I’ve had successful merge (I think) on iOS when it has identified an image wrongly, or not been able to, assuming the avatar used is a basic ‘prototype’ for that. If I type an existing name, it merges then, choosing a different master prototype avatar but not sure if it is doing the same with multiple examples.
Sometimes it’s a profile it thinks is someone else. Sometimes the subject has aged and changed considerably. It’s like it’s tossing out the bad hash.
@03a95182 Well I saw chatter -about- it. Doesn’t mean that counts as a warning exactly, but I was more aware of it. Cudos to those with the foresight to test the ‘I wonder if this will just vibrate if on silent mmkay?’ switch. I added 2 + 2 on the shade they were throwing at alert settings then. It was like an alarm went off
I was in a crowd during Trumps ‘wonder what this switch does?’ Alert, and through many Amber Alerts since, it’s entertaining to watch people ‘jump’ in surprise. I’m a jumper.
@b92dcc07 An interesting thing happened as a family of grocers lost their distribution network when their brand franchise supplier decided that knock-off auto supplies was a more profitable business model. They reverted to old school and sourced locally. They long had a clientele that called on them as butchers- they had always cut their own chicken and beef and pork. They built their own produce greenhouse in a lot next door to their supermarket. They eked out a few more years.
@872ab8e1 they used to advertise VW Beetles this way, touting that full body drip pan. Which probably would not have kept water out and generally rusted out wherever roads were salted in winter.
@a6ff0b2b@948015c9 I suppose if you are ‘aAdmin’ stuffing the other accounts with goodies, that’s fine for Linux, but my old Luddite ways have never thinking one desktop or laptop, one log in at a time, one user.
That is, other accounts would be
Logged out automatically
Are multiple log ins open simultaneously on one terminal common everyday practice?
@a6ff0b2b I find such algorithmic fudging a problem in macro mode- I am trying to make the near microscopic more visible, not needing to smear Vaseline on the lens for a close up Mr. DeMille.
Truth before beauty.
@edc128e6
I think you might be leaning with ‘prepping for another update’ maybe? And I’m leaning towards machine learning metadata, format shift.
I notice the iCloud syncs are more real time while you observe rather than, ‘we’ll get to that while you aren’t looking, mm Kay?’ Which I find an improvement.
‘Restore’ may be a loaded, poor choice of words however. But what hat else is new, re: Apple clarity? It’s a bit improved IMO. And there are still head scratching moments, perhaps new.
@edc128e6 perhaps it is metadata syncing later? Or hashed clues for machine learning, as in ‘found some new faces, doggos and kitties!’ Update to HEIC?
One thing iOS 17 seems to have fixed is the long standing dialog about a certain number of your photos NEVER being analyzed in the People and places. No longer there. I always thought this ‘never updates’ ‘bug’ might be referring to duplicates.
@edc128e6 Why is it ‘a problem’?
I mean, if you had made a change on one device (let’s say you used your Mac, Apple TV, whatever… wouldn’t you EXPECT your library to be restored from iCloud? That is, I’m interpreting ‘restore’ in this situation as a mere sync, to make sure all devices are on same page.
It is just that my iCloud syncs are in the direction ‘TO the cloud’ only.
I was assuming yours is still refreshing new phone from iCloud.
Could also suppport ‘new update soon drops’ idea
@edc128e6 I’m assuming you have a new phone and did not do device to device transfer. Or sync multiple devices to the same iCloud account. Either or both Correct?
I’m curious, if it is merely from an earlier phone- how long have you had the new phone?
If it is from a change on another device, how long has it been since activity on other device?
Have you noticed a time of day that iCloud syncs happen? I’m noticing (to iCloud) more frequently, when changes happen. Perhaps new info for us?
@a7fc4fa6 nice to know though. Almost no one reports on TVOS update time, but I would imagine it to take as least as long as watch OS, which has never taken less than 90 minutes in my experience (with a surprise ‘do you want to update now? dialog to quick at some totally unknown point between minute zero and minute 90.
@c3f6e3f1 I prefer being able to ignore too many options than to not be able to find them at all, which seemed to be the playbook during Jonny Ive’s reign.
‘Oh, it’s complicated? Make it undiscoverable!’
@a7fc4fa6 is it anything like warda ice, the Philly street snack?
I think it’s old school Mac text to speech synthesis, but the history of how to wreck a nice beach, and synthesize it is very old.
Link I can’t find you’d love where Robert Frost was encoded as four sine waves of varying pitch and volume- sounds like artoo when reduced to something that basic- but also sounds a bit like words
@c1ff5b2c it would be a nice addition to an cleaner user based ecosystem like TMDB (the movie database) that doesn’t want the cruft and baggage and gaming of the system that have made IMDb and RottenTomatoes increasingly worthless to the end user.
@edc128e6
How many schools have homecoming at once?
I’m sure they overlap for many high schools and colleges. But Chicago has a lot of high schools and colleges.
But we didn’t need homecoming for that. Halloween, perhaps.
@edc128e6 a major chain made certain that all of their stores received at least one majorly huge jackfruit. I wonder who bought it in my rural smalltown?
I bet the jackfruit bought it.
@a6ff0b2b@cfcf7cd7
So, in my dialect and hearing, I hear John saying seh ruh KEW suh. Practically as everyone pronounces it anyway, EXCEPT he is not using a short i sound in the first syllable, but something more like a short e. EVERYONE says sih ruh KEW suh. He rolls with it. Que sera sera, shirt e.
I am from Tinnassee. We say pin and pincil, not pehn and pehncil.
@bb1a99d2 So many details to flesh out. The Ben Day screen looks like a serigraphy, silk screen. Different angles for each color? Different screens for each percentage?
@a6ff0b2b I’m going to need constant reminding. I remember none of the gestures. I only use the AirPods once a week, and taking in and out of my ear and putting in case are the only ‘gestures’ I use. I control volume on my phone.
@d23fc1b0 but the question behind the question is, if someone is providing some information to a ‘webmaster’ where there links, their referrals are coming from, how are they culling that info? From IP addresses? The back side has been abstracted away for many, who had a better idea 30 years back of view provenance.
@d23fc1b0 is this something that has happened because of web analytics as a business to business service? Info that perhaps used to be avaiable to all has been shanghaied?
@e56cd906@bb1a99d2
He might be thinking either that they won’t bother or have so many to chase down it will be a burden to them.
I’m more concerned if the artists on the series are getting income from the work. Which will probably stay in print. It probably opens DC to toss the concept to other creative teams now if they choose.
Warners has much larger PR issues now for this to even register.
@bb1a99d2
I agree with you.
At this point he sees it as a court battle he can’t afford to get paid as contracted. If others used his character interpretations and dialog and script in their own works, the burden to sue many fly by night public domain claim jumps to protect Trademark would fall to Warner Discovery.
And the base characters are public domain to start with.
Someone who worked on Milne estate Vs Disney might have some interesting opinions. The contracts would have to be aired.
@03a95182 I’m an avoid the rush guy on the hardware updates by waiting until after the holidays, if it’s my turn in the barrel. Just walking into an Apple Store and saying ‘gimme’ has its perks.
I did wait in line for iPad initial roll out however.
@b18e71d1@03a95182
As to Apple TV productions themselves- enjoy some Apple TV. But I also feel a sense of innocence you might feel watching a high school putting on a play they have written themselves in every episode. ‘Hello, let’s unnaturally stress this awkward point that reflects a message we feel important’
@03a95182 my thought was how soon before someone throws a false positive to the watch simply by doing their everyday manual work? It could be worse than Siri.
@03a95182 is that Gen x music? It seems heavy on 80s college rock, maybe a bit of pre grunge 90s.
Whatever ’gen’ genre it is, it is more open to songs than mainstream media was when the songs were first released.
@c3f6e3f1 Too many ideas cooked up for reasons of economy get turned into vehicles for unattainable luxury.
I don’t think it is the object or project itself that is to blame.
@872ab8e1 I’d just expect teachers, editors, copywriters and fact checkers to have to have to bleed on more drafts and call for better documentation.
The documentation should be the AIs job. AI should be an assistant, not a replacement.
@03a95182 It could actually be the *very*same *thing* I saw, as far as I know.
Also, I’m Rip Van Winkle.
::Looks out window now:: No. No loop de loops happening right this minute.
@a6ff0b2b I’m getting flashbacks of watching system extentions load up as a line of little icons on boot-up, and having to dive into a session with conflict catcher later, given your reported Sonoma experiences so far.
@bb1a99d2 I love seeing all those comic strip artists however. Seems like Someone wanted Mendelez to pitch some other ‘funnies’ based animation franchises, then they fleshed it out the footage with song (rankin/bass were actually song pluggers, good return on airplay)
@03a95182@b18e71d1
There are subtle touches, but I see them. It may also point to my not actively watching TV since the 90s when standards of realistically expected behavior differed.
@edc128e6@683562c3
I think even a minimum iCloud backup I think provided to all AppleIDs will preserve passwords. That’s almost as big an issue as personal data as so many apps require unecesssary ‘accounts’ to work at all or are gateways to vitally necessary accounts.
