Incidentally, I just tried to take a photo of the underside of my mouse (to attach to FB13211706 along with all my new info) and my iPhone 14 Pro produced the first image. (It auto-switched to the ultra-wide camera for macro mode.) (Also, all these images are crops of the originals.) The second image is a RAW from the same iPhone 14 Pro ultra-wide (converted to JPEG for posting here). The third image was taken with my Sony A7 III. (This is the one I attached to my Feedback.) https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/111/171/900/686/615/489/original/ef28f73dddc8b8bf.jpeg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/111/171/900/433/865/643/original/99e1653f5fdad8a3.jpeg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/111/171/900/550/581/336/original/eb1865c788341551.jpeg
@a6ff0b2b Add something for scale — if that text is the same size as the text on my Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard, it’s TINY. But “macro mode” or not, the long camera is the best choice for this job — if only to give enough standoff to not block all the light. Two generations earlier produces a perfectly readable photo. iPhone 12 Pro Max. https://fediscience.org/system/media_attachments/files/111/172/107/448/584/612/original/f89d0480d2be74da.jpeg
@6b9b645e Yes, the 1x and the 3x camera do better, but still not great. The text is a similar size, but it's a darker gray so there's less contrast.
