I moved Twitter off my mobile home screen.
I set a 10 minute daily timer on iOS.
I never let the Twitter algorithm tell me what to look at next.
I keep it around for when my friends send me links to read.
i’m interested in this problem:

anyone do a pros/cons analysis yet? would this be a good alternative to NIP-05 names for nostr?
i’ve seen the satslash addition to ordinals to attempt to solve DNS routing. is that an approach you like or is there something else in the ordinals/inscriptions ecosystem i should know about?
agreed that names are just conventions. that’s why we could have such a thing. we just need a good idea that enough people agree to that it becomes useful enough
name squatting is a good issue to consider. i was assuming claiming names could be done by some sort of market mechanism. not sure the specifics, but maybe its “first come”, but involves some sort of staking of btc
my nostr note writing as visualized by flycat!

A++ trolling the haterz, @Alex Gleason 🐍 😝
to me the namespace seems the toughest thing to find a credible path for decentralizing over time. was that core to your centralization concerns or were there other large categories of problems?
I’m not well-versed on the FarCaster architecture, fwiw, just a long-time casual observer of the project
If you’re just learning about https://wikifreedia.xyz it’s good to start with the structure as described by @PABLOF7z
“Anyone can edit
Anyone can fork
There is no canonical entry for any topic
Use WoT to make sense of it”
Wikipedia: find consensus among a small group of admins on a neutral-point-of-view of “the facts” about a subject
Wikifreedia: everyone shares their point of view about a subject assembled around a hub for easier evaluation by the reader
wikipedia used to seem bottoms-up/internet-native compared to Encyclopedia Britannica, but given the complexity of the world and the nuance required to learn about any subject we need something new
I noticed “E-cash disrespectoor” in your bio @captain ☦️ compromised
I’m still trying to form an opinion. I had a call with someone yesterday who shared some skepticism on eCash with me. Can you tell me more about your view?
Thanks, I’m following both of them now, too.
I’ve always had the assumption that a payment for a good/service always has counter-party risk with whoever you’re exchanging with.
So I would never consider eCash self-custodial, but I’ve always thought of it more like a simplified UX involving an additional party for an already somewhat risky transaction.
You could give me 10,000 sats from cold storage and I might still run away with the coffee we had agreed I’d hand over in exchange.
