What is @Satlantis ?
It's hard to say.
It's a new kind of social app, that's part NomadList, part Meetup, part Instagram, Google Places and Trip Advisor.
Some might say "this is not a good thing" bc people don't know how to categorise it, which is a fair criticism, but I'd argue, there was also no way to really describe Facebook or Instagram when they first came onto the scene.
Building something NEW requires that you discover what you are along the way. Especially if you're trying to fundamentally transform an industry. If you just want to build another widget or app - sure - it helps to solve a very narrow problem, and position it in a way that's very easy to relate back to something that exists.
But...if your aim is to do something both new, and transformative, you have to push boundaries and build things in a way that makes more intuitive sense, than logical sense.
That being said, it's got to be done in stages, with each stage delivering some form of very clear & precise value.
This week, we'll roll out the first version of Satlantis at @BTCPrague which is basically a "City Home Page" derived from social content on Nostr.
Anyone can follow a city, post content about anything in a city, search for & join events, find people in that city, connect with them directly, learn about a city (scores, stats, gallery) and see a dynamic feed with content people are posting on OTHER Nostr apps (if they hashtag the city).
In the coming weeks and months, we'll be rolling out rich user profiles, a feature rich merchant map with some really cool review & content features, and much more.
Stay tuned.

I assume you got the funding from being a deep state Manchurian project, since localization + decentralization is a double-dangerous combo for the military industrial complex
Still excited to check it out 🙏
How do you calculate your montly $$ for cities they seem like insane prices for some cities i know are way less expensive
Loads of metrics, from Numbeo, some other sources and surveys from people who live there.
In an up coming release, we’ll give more insight into what’s included in the total $$
Good job Alex !
Looking forward to exploring it.
Love it! Also feels like something tech hardware will catch up to soon? 2-3-4 years? so we aren’t all chained to the larger-screen-view of laptop or desktop. Feels a bit like how graphical/creative content evolved from 2D, to 3D, then spunoff into Layers to allow for flexible manipulation and view of the data… can’t wait to check it out.
There will be a mobile version for easier in-hand browsing long before that
Hi, nice! Is there also an integration with events created in Flockstr? And how do you plan to do merchants, is there already a kind for that one?
Yes of course. All events on Satlantis are Nostr events. So visible on Flockstr and any other client that renders that kind of event will see it.
And with merchants, we’ll be using the new “places” event that we’ve been developing with Arkinox
👌🏻
I’ve done some tinkering (building a proof-of-concept) with a location check-in event kind (also building on the work of @arkinox)
Reach out to @SatoshiSound - would love to have a look!
I will make a short demo video next week ⏱️
Interesting! Who does the scoring, how does that work?
Mixture of people in the city (qualitative) and data from sources like Numbeo (more quantitative).
In the coming releases we’ll have more fidelity on where the scoring comes from
Oslo is missing, no search results. Can I contribute with anything there?
Let me know if you want to help establish Oslo. DM me
Great ! Wishing you great succès with this
This is a very interesting concept! Definitely checking this out 🤙
The meetup angle is vastly underrated imo. The whole point of a physical meetup is for non-KYC arrangements. That whole project seems like it just runs off of network effects.
Would be cool to see this angle evolve to the point where even normie no-coiners curious about bitcoin meetups etc could onboard seamlessly and RSVP to bitcoin meetups etc.
Pretty cool, keep up the good work brother 👏🙌👏
Great start, lots of potential 🧡💜
Although, it took me a while to successfully sign up with my browser extension (nos2x on Kiwi Browser Android) and after being lucky enough to manage to sign up, I couldn't find out how to creat a new place by myself and couldn't figure out what to contribute and how to engage 😉
Some feature ideas to build engagement:
- integrated with on site Bitcoin meetup calendars, e.g. https://einundzwanzig.space/meetups
- integrate with map e.g. btcmap.org to find local BTC merchants
- "been there" option for locations, to build a travel diary, e.g https://findpenguins.com/
- local tourism with Bitcoin payment
--> Get your guide marketplace
--> Airbnb for Bitcoiner
I love the direction @Satlantis is paving, because travel, places and people are at the heart and Bitcoin is just the facilitator bringing it all together.
Keep going!
Thanks for the ideas! Lot's to build and appreciate your patience.
Satlantis to me represents Home away from Home.
Awesome seeing you brother and speak soon!
So excited to see where this will go! Bravo on the PoW! 🙏💜
