Ok, so I finally figured out where to send the funds. The organization that my best friend works for has been working tirelessly since the storm. He finally got back home for a short stretch and sent me a bunch of images, video, and updates. At this point they are just trying to convince people to leave the area because it's going to be literally months before the roads and power are back in order.
Just so you guys know where it's going, I'll be selling the BTC and sending fiat to the organization below, and there's a paypal link on their website if you want to simply pay them directly to help out. They will use it for helicopter fuel, supplies, equipment, staff, etc.

1. They are just sharing about the V4V economy, and specifically sharing and promoting wavlake, which they have even made available in their own app for people. Fountain and Wavlake are absolutely the two biggest from my experience.
2. I get a ton of sats from Fountain. I just emptied 1,5 million sats into the BC recovery Fund which was a couple of months worth of streams and boosts just for my podcast.
3. Fountain didn’t write the article, it was included by the author and the musicians as specific examples.
4. KYC custodians are a LEGAL problem, you think they *want* to have to KYC people for a few hundred bucks of sats? Are you mad that they won’t invest thousands of hours and enormous amounts of resources into a platform and then risk it all by breaking the law (a shitty law or not)?
5. How did they copy wavlake? Fountain launched before them if I remember correctly, and what did they copy, adding Nostr? So nobody can add Nostr without it being a negative that they “copied” someone. But then you also complain about closed source, you realize open source is specifically so that people can *copy* others right? How on one hand can you demand people be allowed to copy, but then attack people for it, and in a situation that doesn’t even seem applicable? Did Damus copy Amethyst? Did Primal copy Nostur? Did Nostr copy Lightning? Seriously do you think that a vague idea like being able to zap people should be owned and controlled by a single entity?

My favorite setup is a 2/3 with tapsigner, mobile key, and CC. It’s the business account for my production company and it’s so easy to use. It’s basically a PIN and tap with my card whenever I want to use it, and then the CC is my “stored away backup” in case of disaster. Super slick way to use bitcoin daily with a really good security profile too.

I just can’t get interested in Ai talking to itself. I legit don’t see the point. There isn’t actually a perspective here and there isn’t any emotion or actual realization either. It’s legit just probabilistically spitting out what has already been written and spoken about Ai in a first person perspective.
If I wouldn’t read an article of someone pretending to be Ai having an existential crisis, then I don’t see the value or the difference in a podcast doing the same thing.

Fiat did not in the slightest lift anyone out of poverty. It axiomatically can’t. There is no such thing as a net benefit by having some particular group counterfeit money.
There are two ways to obtain resources as people in a society. Literally only two. You either create some and trade what you create with others, or you steal, defraud, cheat, whatever you want to call it, where you take resources from someone else, and give nothing in return. That’s it, you either create them or take them.
Fiat is just one of the “take it” options. That is all, nothing more, nothing less. It does not create wealth, it does not create stability, and any growth that occurred at the same time has nothing whatsoever to do with printing money.
The ONLY thing having a global reserve did, was allow **The US** to print more money with less domestic inflation. It benefitted the US disproportionately and was able to cast out a much larger “network of taking.”
If anyone spent a good honest few minutes thinking about it, the obvious conclusion for what has led to the incredible rise out of poverty has **obviously** been technological progress. And it is very easy to make the assessment that the multi-trillion dollar fraud of fiat imbalances, debt expansion, theft, and resource misallocation clearly and only slowed it down. And that it can literally do nothing else but exactly that.

I’ve not heard any reporting that it isn’t working and I know someone taking basically this route in, it’s sending them through my area, then south, and back up on 26 despite coming from the North. So it seems this is still the main path in and out. If your family can get out, it’s probably best that they do if they have somewhere to go. Depending on where they are it might be weeks or longer before power, water, and basic utilities are even coming back online… if that for some areas. This is gonna be years of clean up. Some of these little towns may literally never come back.
The state patrol has announced that all roads in west NC should be considered closed for everything except emergency vehicles and supplies.
