It has been my experience that those most condescending & dismissive of the rights, opinions, and autonomy of anyone who holds an opinion different from their own, are often also the loudest proponents of "democracy." 🤔
I call them libtards. aka “progressives”
insert something about giving up liberty and safety and deserving neither...

 Yeah because they’re retarded
'Retarded' is such a glorious word. Allthemoreso since other platforms shadow ban you if you use it. I love nostr
Been using it my entire life and I’ll never stop
They've been trained to be condensing and dismissive. They have also been robbed of history.

Yep. Simple democracy is mob rule and they want to be the mob bosses.
Those who cry, "Democracy!" are the least democratic.
Those who cry out against fascism are the most fascist.
Those who decry racism are the most racist.

Obviously there are exceptions, but this is usually the case.
idk if i exactly cry out against tyranny, that isn't effective

i whisper and write text and stuff, i'm actually dead silent when i compose this thing... maybe you could say that typing is very nearly the same as whispering?

especially in lower case... i just have always had a thing about that because what the fuck pinkies are weak!
yep. I call them, the sleepy folk
That’s the whole point of democracy: The stupid stealing from the smart through majority rule. Unfortunately, from the little time I’ve spent on this Nostr app, it seems full of the kind of people who like to support democracy and leftist ideologies. Less than other places, but it’s still not immune
I think it's also a question of power and knowing where you stand.

I'm pretty familiar with the work of some on... let's just say 'the right' who can be condescending, dismissive of.... who would never be proponents of democracy at all.

Give them power and they'll dismis the same things for different reasons. They, for the most part, aren't as vocal because they are aware of their current place in the power structure. Right now it's always 'safe' to cry about muh democracy.

Thus for me the question looks less at political power balances and more toward how I should value the rights, opinions and autonomy of others where and when I have power to act on those values.
I stumbled upon some old Metallica yesterday. It strikes me that one sings 'Shortest Straw' or 'Don't Tread on Me' with different intent and emotion depending on where they find their 'side' fits in the power structure.
