> If the vast majority of users end up needing custodians to interact with the protocol, then controlling the direction of protocol development is irrelevant. Just control the custodians.

You should get involved in bitcoin protocol development and bitcoin core to understand some of the things shared in the post.
Everything looks good from outside. It's the same for every open source project.

I am sure HRF and Opensats can support contributors, maintainers etc. in this repository.
I work on a different coinjoin implementation which is simpler and works fine with descriptor wallets. However, I want to see joinmarket do better.
This is the architecture of Qubes OS. It can be used to create secure vaults WITHOUT covenants. One VM to use covenants and get pre-signed transactions based on output restrictions. Another VM which generates a private key, creates pre-signed transactions and securely destroy the key.

I had lot of enthusiasm in 2017 when price went up.
I don't feel it anymore and think bitcoin is dead if it remains a speculated asset being traded by trusted third parties.
I don't know. I feel very emotional about it because I can't see something being captured by governments I used for payments on darknet.
I think we disrespected and ignored satoshi when all the funding, efforts etc. went to fedimint, cashu etc.
Not just satoshi but all the people who discussed ecash without trusted third parties before bitcoin on mailing lists. We are just slaves for investors at this moment and there are very few transactions settling payments on bitcoin.
It's a speculative asset that everyone enjoys when price goes up and not the same as when I started researching bitcoin in 2015.
I can assure you all the conferences in US do not affect normal people in this part of world. Asia still prefers other things for payments and I don't know who are you scaling for.
I will be surprised if more than 1% of Asian population is using or interested to use bitcoin for payments.
Sometimes I am confused who are we scaling for.
Happy to see joinstr in the coinjoin section.

People who pretend that something like nostr or better has never been tried are either too young or dishonest.
I was interested in nostr since 2022 because:
- Simple protocol (at that moment)
- Enough libraries to try and implement
- Some known bitcoiners involved in it
Multiple things have happened in a few weeks irl that made me realize I dont have enough money.
I don't want to become millionaire and flex. If you think my projects could help bitcoin, please donate: https://geyser.fund/project/joinstr
Thank you everyone.

In some cases it's better to avoid payments in coinjoin transactions. Payjoin or Octojoin works better in such situations because less or no coordination and transactions look normal.
Also wabisabi isn't the only implementation that allows payments in coinjoin. You can achieve the same with joinmarket and joinstr.

I like the bus analogy. There is another way to describe joinstr.
- An ostrich creates a nest (pool)
- Some female ostriches lay their eggs in the nest (register inputs)
- Incubation period lasts for a few minutes (coordination using relays)
- Hatching of eggs (new UTXOs)
Eggs were of different colors but the ostriches that come out of these eggs look the same.
