I had lot of enthusiasm in 2017 when price went up. I don't feel it anymore and think bitcoin is dead if it remains a speculated asset being traded by trusted third parties. I don't know. I feel very emotional about it because I can't see something being captured by governments I used for payments on darknet.
I stopped caring about the price. The price is just the interface to the old world. The value is for them, not for us.
There is nothing you can do with Bitcoin other than sell it for fiat.
Clearly you’re living under a rock https://video.nostr.build/34c62f4c8718098f9d7bf344ae4b9e1e5ab06caedd82c84e59b0d44b53ba9e6a.mp4
What's the name of the shop? What did you buy? How much did you pay? Do you go there all the time? Have prices been stable? How does the business pay its suppliers?
1. Penha d’ Aguia 2. Coffee, pastries and bread 3. €4,35 around ₿7.000 sats 4. yes 5. Prices are never stable, neither in fiat currency nor in bitcoin. Prices in fiat currency go up, in bitcoin terms they go down 6. Some of them already paying their suppliers in bitcoin Just check BTC map. Maybe you should take a walk around here
> Prices are never stable, neither in fiat currency nor in bitcoin. Prices in fiat currency go up, in bitcoin terms they go down This one would be worth taking a closer look. If prices go down how does the business deal with lower expected future earnings.
I'm looking forward to achieving this level of Zen!
True story! 🧡
But in the real world, we have to pay taxes in dollars, yen, gbp, etc... and due to this, we have to pay rent and other living expenses with our currency, so price does matter. Living solely off gift cards or similar bought with Bitcoin is nice, but not a good way to live.
The future will be transacting with the world in Bitcoin.
I believe a dual currency, alongside fiat. Government will never strictly use a hard money. Never have, never will.
It’s still at $58K
Even though it might be triggering for some, It’s great to see non bitcoiners on NOSTR. If they’re here, they’ll soon get there.
Why it's triggering to see non bitcoiners on nostr?
Bitcoin/BTC are typically maximalists and can be a bit of a cult and easily offended. Hopefully Nostr can grow beyond that.
Ahh, well I am a dinosour, new to all this, not owning coins...yet I see potential of nostr and why it matters. With the right presentation and communication, this could easily become mainstream. This is the way out of the matrix and brain waching machine mass media and this freedom is everyones right. At least that's how I see it. Sure, nostr is a perfect way for all of us who know nothing about coins to experience first hand how it's functioning but nostr is not financial platform. If anything, it's free media and freedom of speech - something that humankind didn't have so far. And that's massive!
100%. But the financial component is actually huge and I think will drive adoption in the not too distant future. It’s bigger than people realise. Once people fully understand that they can monetise on NOSTR and get money sent directly to their personal wallets via the protocol without the involvement of any 3rd parties, it’ll be a wrap.
Yeah…not triggering for me but as was mentioned, some people get a bit weird when there’s people on here that aren’t fully convicted on bitcoin. I personally look forward to the other types of people and content that there’ll eventually be on NOSTR. Right now it’s pretty Bitcoin heavy which unfortunately can turn some people off.
Yeah, I hear you and I agree. I am new to nostr and don't own bitcoins or any coins and first impression was "wtf is this" because of all bitcoin content 😀 so at this point I guess it's better not to reach masses. I am not sure what is marketing strategic plan of #nostr but to me nostr is free media, freedom of speech, free internet, sharing of ideas, potential paradigm shift and leaving a legacy to a new generations. I see it in that sense more important than collecting sats and owning bitcoins. But, since it offers a possibility of tipping aka zapping, it is an amazing way for all non bitcoiners to experience the first hand the world of coins - there is no better way than that! Plus, giving value with zapping to the content we like, we get to choose what ideas we want to feed, we demonstrate the value of sats and making a world of coin truly alive.
Exactly that. I think a lot of people will get introduced to Bitcoin via NOSTR. It’s all just a matter of time. As far as I’m aware, there is no marketing team/plan with NOSTR. It’s a free and open source protocol which means it’s up to the community to share it and decide what it is. The beauty of that is that you get free censorship resistant discourse. The challenge is adoption as people are used to being sold and marketed to and without that they can be sceptical.
Well, being a person from marketing, I say it's foolish to try to let it just be without vision/strategy. Some plan matters because it determines how you will present this protocol, how you will reach and communicate with the audience etc. For example, avarege person has no idea what is client, protocol, private key etc. Marketing plan matters, because if the goal is to become mainstream, someone needs to render complex technical terms into 3d language that people resonate with. If you let it just be without any plan + the design and user experience can't compete with popular platforms, I am afraid it will stay a thing only for a small bitcoin group of people. Nostr have potential for much more, and bitcoin will become massively accepted if nostr becomes mainstream.
There’s a truth to this but bitcoin doesn’t have a marketing team and has literally gone from the white paper to the White House(figuratively speaking) in 15 years. 0 to 89k. Powerful ideas spread like wildfire and the open market has a way of deciding what it wants to participate in. That being said, it’s likely that we’ll get to a place where clients and businesses built on NOSTR might start some form of marketing/promotional campaigns but they’ll need to be incentivised to do so. NOSTR will just be the rails on which we ride on. In the same way that we don’t know how the internet works but we know how the things that are built on the internet work.

This is so underrated... Best post ever. 🔥🙌
The question is not whether the majority of trading volume is speculative daytrading institutions/regulated entities, but whether you still have the ability to carry out your "darknet"/censorship resistant transactions. I think the day-to-day tx volume will always be short term speculators; it's just human nature. But as long as we still can do txs in a permissionless way if shit hits the fan, we're good. And we mostly can although there are arguably already many restrictions, in particular on volume. That is the real threat
Exactly, in fact a feel pity for those who commemorate the price especially now with them cheering for Blackrock and their puppets. nostr:nevent1qqstqvg7k60fhvrd46w5rq6wg9u0yx9jm53qzsj8y27k3zpl28uqqpqpzemhxue69uhkummnw3ex2mrfw3jhxtn0wfnj7q3qv6qjdzkwgaydgxjvlnq7vsqxlwf4h0p4j7pt8ktprajd28r82tvsxpqqqqqqzf2aqfm
Bitcoin is not captured by governments. The means of buying it are. Your income is. They’ll do the same to all coins. There is no pretty way out of this, especially when they want to get rid of cash. Bitcoin is the best hope you’ll get in a world of CBDCs.
I feel with you. Maybe it's because the pioneers are already on the second adoption curve, which is medium of exchange. And that curve is still almost at zero. However, if bitcoin shall remain free, peer to peer transactions are essential. Hodling is not sufficient. A significant amount of transaction fees must come directly from self-sovereign participants, who value privacy and censorship resistance.
