Just found out smart bulbs exist. Do people use them?
I was looking to buy an orange bulb but coloured bulbs don't seem to exist any more or not as available. 🤔
????? Anyone gonna stream this?

Realistically I think nostr needs whole pre-existing, self-contained communities to join it, and facilities for them. Especially platforms that facilitate them being kept away from the bitcointwitter2-style chatroom.
It's not impossible to imagine tho. 🤔 Not any time soon but still.
I'm very positive about nostr atm. Look at me. Lol
Twitter increasing (but not entirely) hands-off approach has already been sat play along those lines. Most people find it an acceptable trade-off for the huge userbase and reach.
Nostr-as-microblogging hasn't been nostr's most interesting selling point imo.(But I'm in the 'isnt this just bitcointwitter2?' camp lol)
AOC removes pronouns from twitter bio.
Are the Long 2020s over?
Is this a sign that the Long 2020s timecapsule aka BlockSky aka Bluesky is on the brink of collapse?
Now that's what I call marketing :)

This suggests a false dichotomy maybe?
Someome who isn't a BTC maxis / BTC tourettes poster isn't automatically a 'normie'.
Also BTC maxis / BTC tourettes posters are also seen as 'normies' by a lot of people.
Buying BTC and/or saying BTC slogans doesn't make you a non-normie. Imo
But yeah 'normie' is just a pejorative at this stage. I think it used to mean something more along the lines of 'NPC', but now it just feels like 'someone who doesn't like the specific thing I like'.
Not sure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Nostr attracted Bitcoiners also maybe partly because it was promoted, mentioned by other big follower account Bitcoiners. Most Bitcoiners seem to have a limited reach of influence (as far as I can tell). Which is why nostr is spoken about and known on bitcointwitter, but almost totally unknown and never mentioned on wider twitter.
I think I agree with you then lol
Eg. Is someone who is an expert on lichen, a normie? No.
Even if they don't know much/anything about bitcoin? Maybe they save money (fiat!!!) in a (god forbid!!!) bank account..? Still, no.
just generally speaking about niche interest and expertise, (not specifically 'lichen expert' lol) they're on twitter because there will be other people with their interest and the possibility of finding even more, or the possibility of reaching people via the massive userbase. And having meaningful conversation, making real life connections, events, career opportunities etc etc.
Now imagine a lichen expert on nostr.
That's why they're not here, none of these conditions are already here for them, and even worse, there's not much hope for the possibility of these conditions emerging on nostr. Certainly not any time soon.
I think cross-posting may be more for users unlike myself (and you? Not that we seem to use nostr in the same way either lol).
Off the top of my head I can only really think of nostr:nprofile1qqstvak76lrk34n2w4a289nmzfpajzl40tasn5gyf5epnkx5ynj2agqpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszythwden5te0dehhxarj9emkjmn99uhhckyu as a good example on here.
But it is generally common practice, perhaps more significantly with video platforms, where there's more alt-youtube options and competitors (and uncertainty).
But I see it fairly often on content creators who list or link to their alts ('find me on rumble, bitchute, osysee...'). And also socials ('find me on gab, minds, bsky etc'.)
Co tent creators hedging their bets, perhaps one will win the the future, and they will already have a presence there. They also seem to use analytics tools where available, and are notified of comments and interactions, perhaps one alt is drawing and audience. They can then shift more focus between the options.
I've also seen content creators comment that it's not worth the effort ('its like grinding gears') focusing on an alt with little footfall/userbase. Convincing someone especially who is earning on twitter/substack to be Nostr only is not going to go down well here. They may have a following larger than the entire active network on nostr lol, the topic of interest has no/little following here, no/little meaningful community or interactions. But the idea is to make it easy for them with the hope that there is a lingering 'for now...'.
Plus it also works as advertising. A lot of these people do verbally and/or have links on one platform for their alts 'find me on etc'. And they may (ideally) have an audience ouraide if the bitcointwitter bubble.
Barely anyone has heard of Nostr outside of bitcointwitter.
They also need to reach an audience. How likely is it that a content creator with a niche interest will find m/any people on nostr? And how many people out of those will click on their patreon/paid subscription/buy me a coffee thing link? It's partly a numbers game.
(I'm using 'content creator' here but I think this has become a genre to itself, I'm still using it in the more old fashioned sense lol. There are definitely people online doing very worthwhile projects and not solely / cynically harvesting clicks and ad revenue).
I think there is also a perhaps small and possibly growing attitude of 'never twitter' or 'never youtube' etc aspect also which might come into play as a factor for people needing to crosspost on multiple platforms to reach the exodus-ers, maybe.
I think the better, more thoughtful 'content creators' have a more dedicated and loyal following willing to support them. But they also rely partly on discovery and playing the silly games of eg YouTube's visibility to grow that, especially in the emerging / establishing any significant following, stage. And obviously this is tied in with building reputations and networks... appearing in journals, at talks or whatever. Where twitter is still probably their best option.
I would say either of the two except B.
B comes across as too generic, ital could be any number of alt twitter's, no info there and I wouldn't click or scroll beyond that.
I think there's a lot of generic design slop everywhere and it's really not eye catching at all. This could be an advert for a bank account or a migraine relief tablet etc etc. it's become very background.
So at least A and C actually have some info to read.
I think I general nostr people should look at something like farcaster's pages and marketing. Would you click on it, scroll more? Probably not. That is how a non-nostr user sees the nostr equivalent. Farcaster marketing also looks and reads like generic slop (slight aside: is everyone writing using ChatGPT or does it just seem like this?). People see slop and ignore it.
It's quite a difficult task actually. I would probably pick the least 'slick' slop options available as a general rule.
Go have a look at a farcaster marketing or landing page or whatever.
You can it, generic AI art slop, purple colours, ChatGPT written copy.
'decentralised... Protocol .... Freedom.... technology....'
Maybe your think something along the lines of 'blah blah blah blah, heard it all before'.
That is how people see nostr too.
Yeah, I'm saying people are quick to scan and turn off when they see these words and associated aesthetics.
You have to bear in mind some people aren't coming from bitcointwitter.
Will watch later.
Didn't realise Paul Kingsnorth turned Orthodox Christian. (I suppose his Dark Mountain project wasn't that dissimilar to St Benedict and the collapse of the Roman empire, so sorta makes sense maybe?)
'We spoke about Paul's journey from environmentalism to Orthodox Christianity, the relationship between Christian millenarianism and the fear of civilisational collapse, the attraction of zombie apocalypse films, and why secularism cannot last.'

Yeah, I like to think if/when I got a new computer I might be able to play one of them lol.
I can't even remember which ones I have, but they've definitely given away surprisingly good stuff ( a lot of total trash too). Especially good around christmas
I mostly just dabble here and there with games. But not played for ages on my old laptop (don't hurt me). And even then I ignored my Epic store library and play a snes emulator :)
Imagine the disappointment of someone actually trying to write a hit piece on nostr as a hotbed of nazi activity. And it's just 24 dudes saying numbers between 80 and 90 all day every day lol.
I look forward to The real Guardian's nostr hit piece. That would be a sign of success lol. But for now this will have a to do 🥲

And I think this is why Elon (rightly) saw/sees substack as his major threat. I believe he still doesn't let people link directly to their substacks(?) not sure actually
Ok this is getting really odd 👀👀👀👀
Everyone gather round.

Since I was in charge of their social media lol
I found it it must be extremely easy to be a social media manager in the age of ChatGPT lol. This may be obvious, but I didn't realise just how easy lol

I don't want to be the Grinch BUT... Lol... with each price increase of bitcoin, nostr becomes more and more unusable for everyone outside of bitcointwitter. (And even some people who are from bitcointwitter.)
That just seems to be a fact.
Unless you disagree. In which case you are...
