There's definitely a relationship between freedom & responsibility.
It does seem like people prefer to play the judge or victim rather than admit that the situation they're in is of their own doing.
It also seems it's a rare individual that seeks not to be controlled by or to control others. These are the people I want to be surrounded by.
💚
I don't think people realise the importance of the implicit & explicit agreements they make every day.
Those that seek to control humans understand the importance of agreements. They know that applying force is less effective & results in rebellion. Fear is their most affective tool for gaining agreement.
Bitcoin is permissionless money, a bearer instrument requiring no trusted third parties. He who controls the UTxO owns the Bitcoin, everyone else has an IOU.
Coinbase is a third party with a lot of trust placed in them. There are better exchanges but I'd trust none of them to hold my Bitcoin long term.
The first sign that an exchange is collapsing is often the halting of withdrawals. It's essentially a modern day bank run at that point.
Bitcoin bestows a lot of power to the individual that takes responsibility for holding their wealth. Taking responsibility is an important step to breaking the bonds that have been placed upon us. It feels scary but incredibly empowering.
I optimise for optionality.
For me that entails keeping most of my savings in Bitcoin.
I also have 2 freezers full of beef, a generator, 2 months of fuel and 10,000 gallons of fresh water.
When Bitcoin hits around $300k I'll be trading some for pasture. This will be to increase optionality & not to increase wealth.
You do you though Ken. My approach doesn't require you to do anything. I do not need you to pump my bags. 😉
Not mad but maybe a little disappointed you'd think that they're a better store of value.
I can understand holding some small gold & silver coins as an emergency MoE for trading.
Bitcoin maxis became maxis because they've experienced first hand what holding a weaker SoV is like.
FAFO 🤙
Always look for the winn win.

I'm still not able to zap you Nifty.
Could not resolve https://chain.fail/.well-known/lnurlp/nifty. Check if you are connected, if the server is up and if the lightning address nifty@chain.fail is correct.
Exception was: timeout
Uno had a similar issue last week.

Words are a fraught with ambiguity.
What is God to you?
I've heard many words spoken of God that indicates we each hold a different meaning behind the word.
I think generally people fall into either 2 categories:
- God is an entity
- God is the all that is
1 group sees God as a supreme being, seperate from themselves.
The other sees God in everything & everyone.
Some use the word in both ways & don't see the distinction.
I'd never sell it all unless I'd also lost conviction in its future.
There are price points where I'd trade some sats for the things I desire. There are prices where I think I'd rather have a little more fiat than I currently have (near zero right now).
It was when I realised that I didn't want to sell it all that I actually went all in (except for the family home).
I just prefer to hold Bitcoin than any other form of value.
I see no shame in selling Bitcoin.
I've been selling it sat by sat for the last year after leaving the fiat mines. It's been emotional at times but it's also been interesting.
It's also partly your fault. I ran the numbers & figured I could live forever by only selling 10% of my stack each year.
And if you have to sell for cash, it's less painful to sell your KYC stuff to an anon for a premium.
At least you know they're going to value their KYC free sats.
Nah - I know plenty of plebs that are still stacking & I don't need that much to live pretty well.
Trust me, it's much easier to sell Bitcoin peer to peer than it is to buy.
It depends on why you use social media. It's purely a personal decision .
Some generate their only income from it. You'd be silly to cut yourself off from existing revenue sources on purely ethical grounds.
If you're starting out, you could focus your attention on nostr while also trying to milk engagement revenue elsewhere.
Nostr favors authentic expression though. I'm not sure you could so easily move between nostr & centralised consumption platforms.
I like the way Lyn Alden does the dance & she always seems authentic over here. She's using Twitter primarily as a source of information though. She's not trying to generate income over there (as far as I can tell).
Nostr is still pretty new. I'm not sure how quickly it will grow & where we'll end up. I'm not sure anyone (even devs) are living purely on zaps.
The real reply guys 🤣
I try to see those replies as opportunities to avoid judgement. To let their words wash over me without getting under my skin.
I forgive them for being loose with their words & yes I also feel a little sad & sorry for them.
I don't think that they realise the effect that this action has on their experience. I know that it usually has little effect on my experience.
