Supporting this genocide is US policy. It won't stop because it is intentional.
We have to understand this. This is full US and Israel partnership.
US support of Israel apartheid, settler colonialism, war crimes and genocide will not stop because it is intentional policy. The "warnings" are nothing more than a pretense and a never-ending delaying strategy.

@7a7e3e36 I would say this is for the wealthy 10% of the planet, the US and associated markets. $26,000 for what looks to be a single seater, way too expensive. What is needed are solutions for the entire planet. Affordable, simple, repairable, micro vehicles that can haul 1-4 people and groceries/goods 20-40 miles which covers many/most needs. E-bikes, public rail, small golf-cart sized vehicles that be charged from the grid/solar.
"The assessment, published in the journal Nature, Wednesday, looked at two decades worth of data from more than 1,000 scientists...
...found that the status of amphibians globally is "deteriorating rapidly," earning them the unenviable title of being the planet's most threatened class of vertebrates.
Forty-one percent of the assessed amphibians are threatened with extinction in the immediate and long-term.

@edc128e6@f2c10967 Excellent post Rob. I'm glad Apple has offered the option, especially useful with Stage Manager. The iPad being a smaller screened device when compared to the Mac, the option for more space is helpful for people that might have more complex workflows. I think screen size/constraint on the iPad is a frustration that is felt by users but doesn't often get expressed explicitly.
I left a comment on the blog but I'm not sure it went through.
"This summer, the United States roasted like never before. People got third-degree burns from simply falling onto hot pavement in Arizona, filling up all the beds in Maricopa County’s burn center....
Off the coast of Florida, the ocean warmed to hot tub temperatures, leading to mass death in the coral reefs..."
Of course that's just a tiny sample of the many ongoing climate catastrophes covered in the article.

Is it possible that Apple's Freeform app could be used as a micro, semi-private, collaborative social space for shared interests? I'm thinking of a social media that's spatial rather than time-line based. Imagine hanging out in a coffee shop rather than standing by the side of a road as information just flows by.
Are there any such online gathering spaces that are a spatial experience rather than a timeline/feed experience?

Apple’s Freeform as Social Media Collaboration Space
I woke up at 3am with thoughts about climate change and started composing a blog post in my head. Sometimes at this moment I just fall back to sleep and the post never sees the light of day. But in this moment my mind is awake enough that I reach for my iPad. But instead of opening iA Writer to start a post I’ve realized that this might actually be a case for using Freeform. ... https://beardystarstuff.net/2023/09/29/apples-freeform-as.html
@610dc2fc@c35f18b4 You mentioned using Settings to restart the iPad or going through the process of searching for the button combination to do so. The quickest way I've found: just ask Siri!
"Scientists have said climate breakdown caused by the burning of fossil fuels is the cause of unusually hot summers and winters with very low snow volume, which have caused the accelerating melts. The volume lost during the hot summers of 2022 and 2023 is the same as that lost between 1960 and 1990.

Experts have stopped measuring the ice on some glaciers as there is essentially none left."

@cfb180ce Excellent post! I'm doing the same with the 13" and Mini 5. Sometimes find them useful together using the Mini as my second screen to refer to text sent by clients while I work on the larger screen iPad.
@f2c10967@379d8cad Yeah, there have been a few bugs but just the usual for a beta. The worst was early on a text entry bug that caused apps to crash fairly often. Been resolved for at least the last three betas. Pretty stable since then.
@379d8cad I've found shortcuts really handy for blogging. Select text on a web page, tap the sharrow, select the shortcut which then creates a new markdown file with the formatted markdown from the selected text including any links as well as a link to the original article. Or, it could just be copied to the clipboard for use on WordPress. Can even set it to open a new post on your WordPress site in Safari. Shortcuts is amazing.
iPad Stories Follow up
A few days ago I posted links to recent stories by fellow iPad enthusiasts. Since then a couple more have come through my Mastodon and RSS feeds. Both of these are really fun reads.
First, there’s Michael Sliwinski, founder of the Nozbe to-do app. I’ve been reading Michael’s blog for awhile and this recent post about the versatility of the 13" iPad Pro is excellent. I think he perfectly sums up why so ... https://beardystarstuff.net/2023/09/16/ipad-stories-follow.html
"In the Atlanta suburb of Peachtree City, teens and older people alike rely on little electric vehicles to get around. Is this a potential model for a more sustainable suburbia?
With about 9,300 golf carts registered among its 13,000 households, this town 31 miles southwest of Atlanta might be the most golf-cart-friendly municipality in America."
E-Bikes and golf carts would seem to be perfect for slower, safer, more climate friendly local travel.

“ "Clearly, saving the planet is the most important issue facing humanity,” the Democratic senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon, said. “But here’s the ugly and brutal truth: right now, humanity is failing.."
The rally was one of some 200 global climate actions taking place this week in countries including Bolivia, Pakistan, Ethiopia and Austria."

@379d8cad Yep. I spent time this past winter adding older photos from an archive on a small SSD to my Photos library and it worked flawlessly. I've also got a Mac for a file server and that's just as easy to navigate via the sidebar in the Files app.
@428bec74 @pratik Yeah, constant snark. The tech press/pundits have created this constant expectation of snarky cleverness. It seems to set the tone for almost everything they do. Most notable with event commentary but almost always a part of their performance. Gross.
And as for the commentary on the environment, sadly, I'm not suprised. While many of the tech press seem to lean liberal, the latest tech toys seem to be prioritized over all else, including climate concerns.
@cfb180ce Fantastic! I really appreciate all the details of your observations as well as how the #ipad is used in your industry. I think it would be helpful to have more stories about real-world use cases.
@379d8cad Agreed. It looked great at the WWDC demo but in practice, yuck. I keep way too many tabs open. And it makes the url field more difficult to use too. That said, I've heard good things about the side tabs in the ARC browser. Years ago I enjoyed using OmniWeb in the early days of OS X as it had an interesting sidebar implementation of thumbnails. A sidebar tabs option for tabs seems more interesting!
@379d8cad I'm biased towards the 13" Pro as it fits my use case. 11" too small, 15" would be too large/expensive.
By cutting one of the 11" models (currently 3 at that size, they'd still have 2 at that size) they'd be removing current size duplication and expanding to a new size. Would service more people's needs with that broader yet more efficient size range.
@379d8cad My ideal line-up:
- iPad for Education A series chip 128 GB
- Combine Air/iPad 10.9" (don't care if they keep or drop the Air branding) M2 next version 128, 256GB
- iPad Mini with M1 next version 128, 256GB
- iPad Pro 11" M3 next versions, same storage
- iPad Pro 13" M3 next versions, same storage
- iPad Pro 15" Added option for even more memory
New Magic Keyboard, backwards compatible for current Pro models. Built in battery to extend battery life of iPad.
@379d8cad Well, hopefully my last effort gets through if not I'll have to just post it as a blog entry because I can't not post something I've written. 🤪🤣
@379d8cad Excellent post. I attempted to leave a comment on your blog Jason but having issues with WordPress so it may or may not have gone through. Or it may have gone through multiple times. 😂
