Check out this cool solar-powered Aptera EV that supposedly gets 1,600 km on a single charge. The solar panels integrated into its design can add an extra 64 km of power a day, leading the company to claim that some users may never even have to charge it. ☀️

The company apparently has 26,000+ pre-orders for the vehicle, which they hope to start delivering by the end of the year. The base model costs US$25,900 – which doesn't seem insane to me?

@7a7e3e36 I would say this is for the wealthy 10% of the planet, the US and associated markets. $26,000 for what looks to be a single seater, way too expensive. What is needed are solutions for the entire planet. Affordable, simple, repairable, micro vehicles that can haul 1-4 people and groceries/goods 20-40 miles which covers many/most needs. E-bikes, public rail, small golf-cart sized vehicles that be charged from the grid/solar.
