#SouthDakota was a pleasant surprise for me. Lots of lovely places. The municipal campground in #Spearfish was one of the best campgrounds ever, and the price was amazing.

At various points, I lived near both UAH and Grey Nuns. It was nice to have a reasonably-priced neighbourhood place for snacks.

So sorry that you're being haunted by your dead friend through these evil people.
I have one former coworker who continually haunts me in my spam but she was still posting on FB at the end of last year.
Hope these evil people at least remind you of happy memories.

OH, the search for an outlet at the airport!! I had my best success with airport cafés and near those giant illuminated signs that must be plugged in.
@a3fff623@cf82808b
For me, reading a lot of text on my tiny phone screen is a major struggle, especially if my reading glasses aren't nearby. Tradespeople tend to do a lot of their communication hands-free when they're in transit between jobs. Still annoying but there could be reasons.

I love to swim when I have the chance and I find that hotsprings, saunas, and jacuzzis pop up in the most unexpected of locations! Family members often had to purchase swimsuits on holiday even though they typically only used them on holidays! I'm not fond of how I look in a swimsuit but I don't feel like it matters much when you're covered in water or steam.
@4a888f94
I used to have the philosophy that you could buy meds or toiletries along your route but I've learned the misery of being without just the right remedy at a crucial time. I now have little containers for all of those essential items. Also, my key rule when leaving on a #roadtrip is: ALWAYS pack a swimsuit!!
@4a888f94@16c3b655
Honestly, folks get the funniest of notions!
I was talking to a paddling companion today who was a lifelong forester and he had hopes that our summer of #WildfireSmoke was a "one-off"!?! That was astonishing to me.

@40ceb4c5 I have had hobbies like scrapbooking that cost me a huge amount of time and money but it carried me through some extremely stressful years so I have no regrets. Just a LOT of supplies I’d like to offload to a good cause.
@40ceb4c5
Honestly, I've received SO many side benefits from most of my obsessions!
#Running brought me friendships and races all over the world.
#Genealogy brought me connections with far-flung cousins and ancestral homes in the US and Canada
#reading has taken me to every corner of the world and every era in time as well as friendships with other readers.
I'm glad I was gifted with an #ItchyBrain and the will to follow where it leads.
#hyperfixation
@40ceb4c5
Yeah, so far. But I'm diving deeper all the time.
I told a long-time friend about my latest obsession and mentioned that I don't usually get just a little bit into something. Her response: NEVER halfway, always both feet!
#kdrama
@40ceb4c5
Really happy that my current OTT hyperfixation is #kdrama. Subscriptions to 2 streaming services and the purchase of a #hangul textbook are my only expenditures thus far. The trip to Korea that I'd like to take in a couple of years is slightly less cheap.
@40ceb4c5 Oh, that's unfortunate but I don't think the gardens have ever been appropriately promoted. When I lived and did social work in Parkland County, I visited pretty regularly. The butterflies in the greenhouse were magical.
@40ceb4c5
Wow! When did you get out to what I refuse to call anything other than the Devonian Gardens? They've had fall picnics that are pricey but cool.
@40ceb4c5@c444654e
I think that my big thing is that a tall glass of cold water is so much more refreshing to me than almost any other beverage. Although I've appreciated many forms of tea over the years, I just have zero craving for it in my current life.
@a3fff623
Ah, you'll probably prefer light cotton on all but the coldest nights. Flannel is still nice if you're going to be sitting around in PJs before or after sleep.
@a3fff623
I think it's okay to sleep nude with just a sheet in the warmer months. Sweat will evaporate more easily on cotton sheets than on most PJs. I bought a "cooling cover" from Costco that doesn't actually refrigerate you but it is mildly cooling. I tell folks I've been hot since menopause since wearing anything with sleeves is pretty much unbearable unless it's actually winter.
@40ceb4c5 Over my lifetime, I've drunk many different styles of teas and tisanes. For whatever reason, I just lost the urge over the last couple of years.
@40ceb4c5 That makes sense. I've basically stopped drinking tea but still have a fair amount of it in the cupboard. I think I should make a pot a week once the temps get colder.
Enjoy!
@40ceb4c5
Ah, you've probably already sensed that they'd be okay with that!
Still, it's best to save work communication tools for professional communication and save the GIFs and quotes for personal communication.
@40ceb4c5
Oh, I'm well-aware that teambuilding is well outside the comfort zone of plenty of people. Being an extrovert, I love the opportunity to get to know coworkers on a different level.
It wouldn't hurt to suggest axe-throwing or an escape room to your team as a not-work activity. Much better than the extreme consumption of alcohol that happens at many work gatherings. I'd rather not watch my supervisor puke, thanks very much!
@40ceb4c5 Ah, if it's the same employer that I previously worked for, the full-team days were the best aspect of the job, even when I had to elbow other trained staff out of the way to assist a woman who'd collapsed while we waited for an ambulance to arrive. Folks get jittery about real-life crises, apparently.
Anyway, I hope that you survive the day intact, or nearly so.
@00a04ce5@3409b63c
Best to set a timer when you turn on the dryer and then shake out your clothing and hang it ASAP! I hate ironing clothing to wear but I own an iron for sewing, which is when it's essential. I don't mind that ironing at all! We humans are weird.
@mmiasma@mastodon.sdf.org
Haha, their "Alfredo looks like friend chicken with Mc'n'chees but that coconut cake looks stellar! So funny that they're serving classic American cuisine at a "Canadian" restaurant, not that our food is very distinctive. Finding amazing places is a delight of #roadtrips!
