on a mission to cull out the least quality from my follows right now
don't take it bad if i'm not following you now, i just am pruning back how much energy i spend on nostr and i had been putting too much into using it versus building on it
i'm quite partial to the idea... getting papers in mongolia is easier than russia though, and mongolia has other benefits as well, though the wetter mountain slopes are on its margins, in the center is mostly flat cold desert
you know you are in a good place when they sell you eggs loose in a plastic bag
went up the road to get some eggs, cheese and a snack... the main place up the hill was closed, well, almoso, but so i went on further up to the next and last place up the road, and i was served, old lady was out the back pottering around and came around to serve me, front door was open and all... i called out to get her attention and waited
the most striking thing was on the second straight (it's a zig-zag from my place to this place) it was so silent, i mean, deathly silent, beautifully, meditatively silent
and i realised something on my way back down the hill
in Madeira, the higher the altitude, the quieter the people, mostly
if there is a lot all bunched together, maybe it's a bit more noisy, but suburbia density up high is still quiet
i also realised that if i were to move to a more out of the way place, i would have to spend more time climbing hills but it would be quieter
so probably if i don't hear sooner, on monday i'm contacting the place i've looked at that i tried to find yesterday
i will not regret being up there on that hard to get at place, on the edge of a steep hill that has nothing below it
fun fact, shaking a gas can makes the mixture too rich in gas to actually burn
i'd rate it a one in 100 chance that it flashes back and kicks off enough of an explosion to pump that highly concentrated vapor back out the nozzle and explode hot and hard enough to ignite the whole canister
still stupid tho, i mean who is gonna play russian roulette even if it's a 100 round cylinder?
too much gas in the empty part of the canister, really, not enough air
most of the time, even before you shake it, a gas can will not explode even if you put a lighter right up to the open mouth, but there's a good chance once it starts heating up the air it can warm the gas and that will lead to a massive amount of boiling gas to pump out the nozzle and actually explode
i once set off a small explosion involving naptha (zippo fluid)... there was probably less than an ounce of gas in the pot but it was all boiling, and then i bumped the pot against the resistive elements and with all that gas spilling over the edge it caught fire and the whole ceiling was turned black and i had 2nd degree burn on my arm where it went off
not saying "don't be careful" but rather, retards will get away with this, until they don't
yup, you have to smother it, that's what fire blankets are for. any blanket will do though, pretty much, so long as you aren't near another big fire and it's not acrylic
#gamestr
as i kinda almost predicted
#stalker 2 is still not here yet... not surprising considering it's probably rolling blackouts there due to the damaged power infrastructure around the Dnieper
but all of the original games from GSC are still available, and are so on special that i was like 40 eurocents short of having enough to get them all so i have them all again
this is the kind of mental derangement that occurs when you suddenly have a OLED 240hz HDR capable display
i'm looking at all these games and thinking... am i actually going to spend the time to immerse myself as i did when i first fell in love with them or not, idk... it's hard to say, but i want to, it's definitely aspirational
i remember an expression, "oh bomb yeah"
pentagon and bureaucracy depend on new laws and new wars
federal government will never be anything but an imperial force
yay, i did my duty on the #arweave aggregator
they wanted us to make a thing that bundles the aggregated transactions and puts them to one of their bundler thingos and when i change it so it sends bundle transactions the standard arweave keyfile, which is, amusing to me as an amateur cryptographer, RSA... i tried the ethereum signature type but for some reason the arweave library didn't support that and the arweave key file i had from their browser plugin only does RSA signatures
ah well... i've asked for some support on how to proceed with this, and until i get answers i can get back to #realy 😉
the common christian doctrine that the 7 days of creation is literal really on one hand emphasises the omnipotent and deemphasises the omniscient
a lot of people think of God as simply a really smart person who is also stuck in the realm of time but that is impossible, how else could he give us prophecies that come true, if he didn't know it... why do the texts always say "it is written" and talk about the future like it already has been recorded as history?
thus, if he is not bounded by time in our universe, at least, then as far as it goes, he is simply omniscient, and doesn't have to change what he already perfectly created
it is only our limited view that makes us think there is injustice in it, in the small span of time we witness this universe and our small place within it
that he merely created this little place and painted all these lights on a sphere around us and everything else isn't real is so limited and retarded Truman Show style evil, i can't believe in a God who is this small
yes, i'm very aware of this and it's because the browser companies threw so much money at making "ninjas" and it is so incredibly cringe
i spent a few weeks working at a dev shop in Bosnia that was full of "ninjas" and i have so many sads at the lack of actual programming ability there was in there, i probably was in sum equal to the whole 30 staff or so at skill in writing algorithms
give me a bazaar any day over a cathederal
pompous cardinals granted their reign by God, i mean the pope
nope, the solution is relays that talk to each other and share events, that forward queries to each other and use each other as second level databases
i understand the frustration at some of the stupid things that people have written for nostr and the 300+ pending PRs on the nips repo
so, i mean, go ahead, make this fork or whatever, but it's an uphill battle to bring people to a protocol, i'll be here, innovating at what it is instead of pretending i'm some kind of priest of decentralization
both are mammals, He may have made one earlier that had this feature and one went to the caves and one went to the water
also, you may have heard of Rupert Sheldrake's Morphogenetic Fields theory... Could be this was all designed in so this "convergence" was likely to happen to similar creatures both in the dark
there is too much evidence of genetic variation and speciation to say that sometimes there isn't hard forks as one species turns into two, but to say that God couldn't have made it that way deliberately is kinda silly
that's the thing
i prefer the idea that the universe is formed out of one perfect word and everything is part of that word unfolding towards infinity, maybe because i'm a programmer and i work with codes that do this on a regular basis
i've heard of that field before and in general i am very interested in systems theory, it really is the most abstract science field... i have also experienced things on several occasions in my life that laid out the top down view in this way
and that's the thing about it, it's language, ultimately, a theory of language, in the sense of grammatical, semantic structuring across time and space
it's a very nice viewpoint when it gets hold of you, it gives you that "everything is as it should be" feels
yeah, i really enjoyed Mises part in Human Action about the thing of the impossibility of omniscience and omnipotence at the same time... it reminded me of what the Qur'an says about many gods making a universe impossible and i'm pretty sure there is several verses in the bible scattered across both of the books that explain how polytheism is wrong because of the impossibility of agreement between multiple gods
the people who use the capital or definite article don't believe in many gods
those are just powerful people, or things
who wrote the source CODE though? yes, the God
in the absolute sense, that's precisely what i believe - God is always here and now and always was and always will be... but continues to increase as more good things emerge and rise to heaven... but it's ultimately unknown because in the end, there is no end, and it is only in the end He is complete, but he is always the most complete, so it's a funny thing
#orbot ?
#torbrowser ?
you use your PC as a monero user without TOR all the time?
i'm not gonna weigh in my opinions on this at all, because you clearly have some ways to go in understanding why tor is not everywhere
a simple bucket, filled with zeolite, with a pinprick hole and under it under the stand holding the bucket, a water container with a large funnel with some cotton stuffed in the neck will do the trick
most filters also have carbon which removes the chlorine gas that forms out of the sodium hypochlorite they also add. that stuff is nasty too... it does eventually gas off and the zeolite also removes the sodium hypochlorite, it additionally removes the calcium, magnesium, iron and other shit in the water (much like RO but much much cheaper, i mean like $50 is gonna filter you like 10,000 gallons)
zeolite isn't that expensive though, it's just a relatively common form of stone
my immune system is on hyper at the moment... i have not been anywhere near any cat all day but my eyes are itchy and red like i have touched a cat and then my eyes
my chest is tight and my breating is more difficult than normal, though it's not as bad as it was yesterday
something i ate last night definitely has left me with an unusually intense allergic reaction, and it may be because it was the same thing again 3 days after the first time, which also gave a mild reaction
i have no idea what it could be... some preservative maybe, like BHT in the oil or something, or in the chilli sauce... or maybe some residue from the wood used in the spit my food was cooked in?
i don't get it, but this is a really really unpleasant allergic reaction, i haven't had this kind of multi-day reaction since i was stupidly eating bread for weeks on end again even though i strongly suspected i was allergic
it was only a month ago i finally realised that i have celiac, based on the presence of a red bumpy skin rash that is very frequently associated with a celiac allergic reaction
so, idk what it is today but i'm still fucking pissed off because if i'd just ate regular goat leg roasted over coals i severely doubt that this would have happened
yeah, for all i know it's some margerine or some fucking bullshit
the "officeal" nutrition guidance is so bad it's incredible... i mean, this shit goes back way way way back before vaccines became gene therapies as well... and all the other shit, the maltodextrin, the artificial sweeteners
i just feel awful tonight, i'm really pissed off i'm totally shunning that place now, i already asked him clearly twice for something and he serves up this shit and two days i'm feeling like hell because of it not being what i asked for
GRRRRRR
i wish i had some antihistamines though, that would for sure help right now
haha i was reading jack kruse 12 years ago
the thing is that it's really hard to find adequate paleo food on the market around here, everything is UHT this and maltodextrin that and artificial sweetener the other, i need to get out of europe
they can be kept in cages just like chickens except obviously they can fly so you have to put a roof on it
you just feed tham seeds, not sure what they like best, probably stuff like wheet and millet and such
catching them isn't hard, they are pretty dumb, you could just attract them throwing breadcrumbs or seed on the ground and make a net... i saw a dude, while i was in the central prison in Sofia, use a piece of light fishing line with a loop and just put some stuff to bring the pigeon down near it and when it got its feet in the middle he pulled it and voila, pigeon's feet were snagged, that's probably more fiddly and patience but very easy, just a simple snare
they are really dumb birds, really
the males are easy to identify because they have more shiny plumage and they strut around cooing at the females, just get a few of each, don't eat these first ones, put little bracelets on their feet so you don't forget which ones, and let them breed and feed on good food and the next generation will be perfect for eating
it's a very greasy meat, and it doesn't taste that bad, it just sorta looks a bit mucky, quite grey and greasy, also the texture is a little soft, maybe a bit similar to catfish in this way, but not as bad as catfish
yeah, they are very tough and fertile animals, at zero risk of extinction... here in the rugged mountains of Madeira they are the second only to the hawks or eagles or whatever they are for the height they fly at but they fly up there a lot more hard style... the eagles ride the wind but the pigeons just work so hard ot get up there
"they" are basically casting shade on the idea of a woman without tattoos being desirable
it really is though, almost all women have them now, and they don't age well and most of the shit they get put on their body just makes them less attractive
plus i'm really not so sure that the pigments used in tattoos are that healthy to have under your epidermis in your living skin layer, especially the black pigment, it must be either iron oxide, manganese oxide or carbon powder, i doubt any of those are good to have in your skin
i have a tattoo, but honestly, i mainly got it to cover up some stupid shit i got when i was 16 hanging out with some low lifes to impress a girl
anyhow, point being, each to their own, i mean it's your own skin, there's nobody else involved unlike with slutty bitches getting partially developed human beings scraped out of their dirty cunts, but it's just stupid and hipster bullshit
clean skin is more beautiful, IMO
tattoos are for science research animal subjects, if at all for anything
they still need someone on board
i was more thinking of light rail anyway... i hate buses, and trams have all but vanished from so many cities even though they are awesome... automatic ones would be the best urban transport IMO
and small scale intercity transport... that's another thing that has disappeared or gotten extremely absurdly expensive in the last couple decades
i like the pace of rail transport... and the straighter paths, and teh lack of up and down bumping
cruise control is just a speed regulator it's a million times less complicated than a thing that keeps you in a lane and stops when things cross your path, i can write algorithms for this kind of power control, bitcoin has one and i made a more fancy one, and then a couple years ago someone pointed out that they are like a Proportional Integral Derivative controller used in physics experiments for various kinds of force and power regulation.
goland only... but if someone made one in Go i'd use that instead
#golang only also, that's never gonna change... it just keeps getting better and better, also
i'm happy with GNU but Linux has failed me on hardware this year, took me almost a week to find an OS that actually worked with my new AMD video card
also i'm pretty fixed on sticking with Zen processors and Radeon video
I've got windows now but really it's mainly there now to properly run games that don't run so well on Linux
hell, i'd advocate for desktop Android if anyone was bothered to actually properly implement the WIMP interface, it's half there, but many other really great features are way ahead of desktop Linux
to be fair, nostr uses taproot cryptography, and bech32 encoding
not sure why it didn't use JSONRPC2 like Bitcoin P2P network tho
i think fiatjaf thought it would be clever to do something super minimalistic and full of implicit semantics
it's the indexes that are the problem
isn't the bitcoin core data directory have a separate folder for the raw blocks? or is that btcd
it just occurred to me, the indexes typically are no more than 200gb, you could totally put the block files on btcd, at least, on a spinning disk and the rest on a 512gb SSD
government is centralization, what ends it is decentralization
with decentrtalization technology available in the form of money its communication and organization facilitation capabilities will exceed, per person, the efficiency of production funneled into a centralized system
partly because the aspirations of power are petty and they value their power above actual efficency
The peripheral neuropathy is really bad today... Just feels like my fingers and toes want to clench and curl together. The most painful is when my calf muscles lock up, they pull hard.
There is a lot of cats like this on #madeira
https://i.nostr.build/hPDQCWuMeIKJynMv.jpg
Also dogs, rabbits and pigeons. A white dog lives a few doors up the street from me.
Notice he has blue eyes. This and the lack of hair pigment are a recessive gene mutation, same thing that makes white and redhead humans.
I think this one is deaf also, he didn't react to my pspspsps ing
This probably is a waterfall sometimes. There is some water https://i.nostr.build/OoxuOdYSLcqEOi4K.jpg visible lower down.
Beside it and next to the tunnel exit, which continues into another tunnel, is the old goat track, carved into the side of the cliff and bolstered with a massive stone and mortar wall.
It must be hundreds of years old.

Yeah, it is like this on most of the Atlantic islands, canaries, Azores, cape Verde.
Madeira might be the tallest one though, 1800m is the tallest peak. There was a little snow flurry up there this spring.
those people are tall and have bigger eyes and elongated heads, and yes, they had a technology to levitate rocks, there is too many extremely large rocks weighting hundreds of tons that are with certainly transported hundreds of miles to their current location
the "giants" in Genesis are hybrids of them with humans, F1 hybrid vigor, extra large... like Goliath, he was one of these, like 8 foot tall... the normal ones were 6-7 feet, and you can find quite a bit of descriptions of humanoid "aliens" like this especially among the stories of ass probing and phantom pregnancies and whatnot
this is a beautiful thing to see... like the kernel of a new society forming
