I have 30 or so ‘street’ pigeons that hang around and eat my neighbors feed. So I’m off to a head start. 

What I had in my head is to let the feral birds be free and just ‘lure’ them into my backyard to get used to feeding there. 

Though I don’t know the legalities of this method in my area, although I did read once they are considered pests and not regulated in most of North America. 
 yeah, they are very tough and fertile animals, at zero risk of extinction... here in the rugged mountains of Madeira they are the second only to the hawks or eagles or whatever they are for the height they fly at but they fly up there a lot more hard style... the eagles ride the wind but the pigeons just work so hard ot get up there
