Last time I bumped into Adam was in the economy queue at an airport.
Yet another reason why I love the dude.
Saving what few sats are left getting LNbits to v1 of course!
 Gm
Tell a normal person to sign up to Bluesky, then tell them to sign up to nostr.
Don't help them, just observe them. They'll join Bluesky with ease then become confused wrecks trying to sign up to nostr.
Running nostr.com we're as guilty as anyone for not providing the handholding needed. I am sorry.
LNbits Inc is trying to raise a small seed so we can dedicate resources to low hanging fruit like this, but it's moving slow. Organising the raise itself is a massive time suck. We are also on the last sprint to get LNbits to V1, so lots on, and very little resources.
For such a small raise and with so much on offer its crazy to me that raising money for LNbits Inc/nostr.com is hard, but hey-ho, I'll keep slugging at it. Stressful times.

 Bluesky is younger than nostr
"normal people are lazy" isn't productive.
Bluesky did nothing for years, we had plenty of a headstart. We don't need to make excuses up for ourselves, improving the onboarding journey is such low hanging fruit, and aiming to onboard normal folk is a good thing.
 😂
Is it really true that Bluesky has better marketing than Nostr and is a better product than Nostr...
 Yes. You're right.
That and it's one simple client, with a traditional sign up and interest based initial discovery.
Once big accounts move their it'll be hard to get them off.
People just want simple and easy to use technology that fades into the background.
Yerp, also one that doesn't shove bitcoin/bitcoiners in your face. Nice simple interest based discovery/omboard.
(Then when they least expect it we creampie them with bitcoin)
I also really want someone knowledgeable to chime in.
nostr:npub1j8y6tcdfw3q3f3h794s6un0gyc5742...
People like a self righteous witch hunt. It was nvks baby and I get his frustration, btcclock was too similiar to not cause issues. It's better to build something new. I also love Druji, and look forward to him making something original and great.
On the whole btcclock/blockclock drama. I totally get how NVK feels, it was his baby. I imagine he agonised over taking action.
I also deeply respect Djuri and his building skills, and understand it must be horrible having a repo taken down.
Personally I avoid treading on other projects toes when building. I get in foss you can, but it doesn't sit right with me. There is plenty to build without replicating,
What I'm really looking forward to is Djuri building something completely unique and brilliant (which he is more than capable of doing).
Yes we often are building on shoulders of giants, for which props should be made as much as possible. But there is plenty to build. I had 3 great new ideas today, with these new tools it's fertile ground for great ideas to blossom. We needn't be treading on each other's toes.
If our ever repeating style trend cycles continue, all of the dudes with ball caps and mullets wi...

 The Guardian left X.
The institutional account exodus from X is ramping up, and they're all exploring alternatives 👀
Bluesky is doing well, with its 1min sign up, clean design and diverse userbase.
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2024/nov/13/the-guardian-no-longer-post-on-x-twitter-elon-musk
Guardian has some excellent journalism. I was made aware of the story when my father in law joined Bluesky following their lead. All should be using nostr
 Haha, love the passion 🙌
I'll be honest, I know f all about Bluesky beyond the ui looking nice and simple and onboarding looking easy
I think it just comes down to simple norm user onboard, and it looks a lot like twitter did, and when they get there the users are more diverse.
We need nostr clients onboarding on interest rather than just recommending bitcoin/nostr folks
Bitcoin Escape Velocity: when the appreciating FIAT value of your stack far outpaces outgoings.
Some words of wisdom for my newly enriched giddy peers.

* Big purchases will flatten the hockey stick, avoid them.

* Do not quit work/earning - your outgoings will increase significantly.

Sounds obvious I know, but over the years we have lost plenty of good/bright people who took BEV for granted.

Stay safe/spend conservatively
Watched The Apprentice last night, a film about Roy Cohn/Trump connection. Its a great movie. I've been weirdly fascinated by Roy Cohn for years, something about him seems important. Glad they made a film about him. He was the precursor epstien NYC kompromat lizard, I always imagined that gig was somehow passed down to epstein from Cohn.
Very dark human obsessed with power.
70s/80s NYC power elites were sketchy mofos

Just how useful digital payments (including bitcoin) are in a war scenario with limited Internet access breaks my maxiness.
Sure keep little bottles of liqueur and cigarettes for bartering, but having stash of cash is prob a good play. In an unstable world can we afford to not have physical currency?
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/30/sweden-and-norway-rethink-cashless-society-plans-over-russia-security-fears
Mass attack happens on your country and it's suddenly at war, internet is down for vast periods, what would you rather have to hand?
$1000 cash
$1000 bitcoin
$1000 gold
 Ecash needs Internet
That of course, but we are talking whether it's useful to have MoE you can use aka some cash
Certainly worth keeping some on hand just in case, but for the grace of God go I (and you good folks ofc 🙏)
You can't, unless you have an exorbitant amount of trust in the people you're buying from. Weird how this misconception seems to be so widespread.
With that level of trust just write and sign some ious. It's in no way a valid replacement to physical cash
Gosh you're interesting! Thanks for chiming in on the thread with irl experience 🙏
Yes. It is in no way a useful replacement for physical cash in this scenario.
What would you actually rather have, $1000 cash, or $1000 sketchy ecash you can only use between a few people you really really trust, then have to onboard all outside recipients (soldiers, officials, someone from next town, etc)?
 MAJOR #Inbits #FOSSA update:
✅ Onchain & Liquid withdraws via trustless swaps 🤯 (first for #bitcoin atm).
✅ ALL FOSSA forks can add swaps.
✅ Easy web-installer. 🚀
✅ LNaddress, invoices supported.

Buy prebuilt from: shop.Inbits.com
Not reason we couldn't add a hopper and do that tho. It's pretty simple, and could be offline adding the lnpos workflow
 🔥🔥🔥
It's all tooling. Just as democracy was made possible by printing press, public key crypto makes possible the transition of "evil" privately owned modes of production to international commons/coops. Democratising capital is very hard, all the tools we are building make it way easier.

The multinational monopolistic Corp is only 300 years old after all, and is a temp inefficient blip ripe for being replaced.

The crazy part is everyone wins! Monopolistic multinational Corps becoming commons, means ancaps also get their free/fair markets of competing private capital/industrialists.

I call it the Adam Smith Invisible Bitch-slap Economic Theory, as its actually in-line with Smiths original definition of the "Invisible Hand".

 It's not in fiat.
Before being a naysayer cunt actually use the service, and understand its a mechanism to support development of free and open source software, which we have been building for many years.
This is against the very ethos of #Nostr

nostr:nevent1qqsw6mg62yr70hr42tyr3djdcca40nstygy...
What is the ethos of nostr?
 "free beer"?
You pay for the nip05 in bitcoin, if you had used rather than being quick to condemn you would know this.
Nostr login will be added soon.
 This is ridiculous

You need to create an "account" and pay $5 for a nostr.com Nostr address

Why...
 Payments are in bitcoin
 Use/don't use 🤷🏼
It's just a Nip05 service.
We use the nip05 LNbits extension, which is completely foss (making this service gave us time to work on it), so you can also use it to sell Nip05s 👍
We will have nostr login soon enough, we are but a small team, so takes time.
I need some quotes that pop for a nostr talk. Names known outside of bitcoin/nostr circles, the Dorsey, Snowden types. "nostr is etc etc"
Anyone have anything juicy?

 Welcome 👍
Finally watched the HBO doc. I always concluded the same. My evidence was, having been a teacher for 15 years pre-bitcoin, the tone of Hal Finney to Satoshi comms were very much mentor to young person, ol'Todd always fit the profile. Young upstart smushing technologies together and annoying a bunch of grey beards.
I also loved the idea of Satoshi hiding in plain sight and travelling the globe trolling fuck out of bitcoiners.
Certainly my fav possible Satoshi (not that any of it matters).
Good doc tho tbf. Well made. Covers bitcoin in very positive and endearing way. Squeezes a lot into 1hr.
Yeah, he is right a lot of time and it is rather annoying.
That's what sold it to me. Only some youngster would dare build the thing all these grey beards had been trying to do forever.

State become superfluous in "true" socialism
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withering_away_of_the_state
The problem are the words used. "Socialism" includes a bunch of things where control is "socialised", including coops etc, far from what you hate.

It's like me saying I hate capitalism because surveillance capitalism sucks on twitter.

You hate State and centralised control. Good 👍, Plenty of socialists also hate those things (Marx himself included).
Today is 88th anniversary of Battle of Cable Street. Where anti-fascist alliance of East London Jews, Irish, and workers unions beat crap out of fascist Sir Oswald Mosley and his 1000s of blackshirts. After seeing horrors of WW2, uk Jewish vets refused for it to happen again.
It was a violent attack on Moselys "free speach", yet it squashed the rise of another Hitler.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cable_Street
Great indie doc interviewing some of the jewish servicemen involved.
I'm always so conflicted on this example of a good attack against "free speach".
https://youtu.be/aSNkTnIsWho?si=wJLN-nHeuGEbHZc7
Gosh you're right! I always conflated with antifacists of post WW2, such as relays 3 group. That makes it more impressive, without the WW2 context later antifacists had
 What led you to nostr?

For adhoc anarchist collaboration (unconfs, idea sharing, event organising, etc) Chaos Pads by Chaos Computer Club is so damn useful. I've used it for years and love it so very much.

In bitcoin, we don't stand on the shoulders of greats, rather a pile of dead bodies of greats, knowing we will prob end up in the pile.

Run LNbits for them, then they can have wallets and play with all the extensions.
https://youtu.be/t28coHBX3aI?si=vUrggHOlfzryznbl
You'll be their wallet of Satoshi. But they can use the boltz extension to loop out to onchain periodically, so the risk is limited of you stealing their funds
You got start9 setup, that's def step in right direction 🔥. You can give your friends user accounts. After they have got the accounts disable making new accounts in server. I would also use a regular user account for yourself, it's more secure. Using super user account install extensions and just play around. They're fun
Most have a more button with videos and description so you can learn what the do. Good luck 🚀🚀🚀

What lovely people we have on Nostr, so open and welcoming.

Also, was a lovely photo 👌
When your extremely talented developer friend, who was a nostr skeptic, flips then tells you they're preparing a NIP 🔥🚀🌕
Nostr is too good, eventually their skepticism was impossible to maintain.
Aww, aren't you lot nice 😍
Zaps and nostr badges makes Nostr the perfect tool for fundraising for charity.
* Raise money
* Do a thing and earn a badge
* Zao the charity (when they are all eventually here), perfect 👌

 Childhood trauma😂
Despite the beating I love them sooo very much. Chucklebrothers is one of the greatest thing this weird island ever produced. God bless em
