It’s the balance in my opinion. Work hard. Work smart. Do what you love along the way. Eventually, get free.
I personally don’t just save money. I spend money on travel. I spend money on hobbies and the occasional nice thing. I spend money on gifts for others. I spend money on good food. I spend time running around in the woods and desert and swimming and doing things that make me feel alive.
Like you said, it could all be over at any time. I plan to live for a good while but it’s no guarantee. Got to enjoy the present as much as possible too.
Everyone should keep 100% of what they earn and spend it how they please. There were roads and bridges and infrastructure before mass taxation. People spending their money as needed would fix all of these issues.
I see small towns with multi million dollar fire stations, half a dozen million dollar trucks and multiple ambulances, and I think, would the community fund all of that voluntarily? It is ever all necessary? I really think it’s not in 99.99% of jurisdictions.
I like that you asked them about it. The elephant in the room.
In fiat “jobs” are velocity of money is important. Under a sound money standard efficiency and capital accumulation is important. Such different outcomes long term.
That’s alright. On average there is less engagement on Nostr so I wouldn’t chalk it up to not being into crypto though it’s mostly Bitcoiner’s here (and the distinction between Bitcoin and crypto is important to us).
But I think you’ll find there is a lot of other subject matter discussed on Nostr. Just have to find others who are interested in those other things and interact with them.
Some of the other stuff I’ve been seeing a lot of on Nostr is: art, meshtastic, music, fitness, low carb / carnivore, travel / adventure, philosophy, homesteading / permaculture. The more the merrier round here, add whatever you’re interested in. Chances are you’ll find others that are too.
I read the report further and it did seem that way as far as the larger trends were reported. Mostly older and terminally ill. Which I agree is more humane. I’ve seen people die sick slow deaths from cancer and dementia and wished they could be put down humanely. We do it for our pets…
The report states “in 2022, 463 MAID provisions were individuals whose natural deaths were not reasonably foreseen.” So 3.5% of total MAID cases.
Yeah I was curious about that too. It seems creepy asf and I for sure don’t trust the state™️ to not make mistakes or do things that shouldn’t be done. But at the same time I have seen people die sickening slow deaths and wished they had an out. I also don’t know anything about the specifics of how this stuff is carried out.
