@46cd5609 Watching this saga from afar, I thought it was just various layers of insurance and automated systems fighting, but this is starting to sound like 'Please stop writing my required mental assistance suplment on the leg of a random pidgeon, releasing it out a window, and praying for the best'.
@46cd5609
Earth. Will. Survive.
Life will go on!
This isn't really a debatable point.
What we're worried about is fucking HUMANS surviving. The ball of rock is gonna be fine without us, and something will evolve to live
It would be nice if humans, the creatures wandering around at this moment, continued to exist. But that's kinda up to us, and nobody has done as much global change as us, so there's no guidebook here
This is like those people who think the asteroid landed on dinos
@46cd5609 I'm sure it'll be fine, you just need to focus on these series of tasks that need to be done in a highly specific order to get along with this extremely nitpicky rules, and have to be completed at these highly specific times. If you just try hard, I'm absolutely sure that this won't present any problems at all.
It's not like everyone can't just do this if they try harder.
Okay that actually physically hurt to type out, and I don't even have ADHD. I'm sorry mate.
@7214b6eb@b92dcc07 It reminds me of police reports where the vehicle struck and a weapon was discharged.
Honestly it also reads like someone better at the written word is working on his posts, too

I have said for years that actually Euclid was right all along, and all orbits are perfectly straight lines! It is reality that is wrong, warping space!
Gravity is the real woke menace and it's still just a theory!
@46cd5609 I had to explain to someone yesterday that no, I almost never answer my phone, and these are the ways to get in touch with me.
When I was asked why, I just said 'I don't know about you, but I have no more interest in robocalls or telemarketing data. Caller ID tells me if it's worth answering, but usually I just tell people when I'm going to call so they can pick up, or they do the same'
I could actually hear his eyes light up.
@6b550892@b92dcc07
Honestly, I think there is every chance that this will lead to Godot -becoming- that, and people aggressively moving forward with it, and there's now an emotional investment that hopefully will carry people forward into actually setting it up and working on it.
I'm just slightly bemoaning that Unity is not going to be that (regardless of if they 'walk this back'), and nobody should touch that engine for new projects.
Here's hoping something takes the place.
@46cd5609
Fair, but a lot of the devs (NOT the unity ones, obviously) have come forward and talked things through. Most of what I've seen has been a variation on 'Buy the games and install them now, if you want to, we'll figure out Jan 1st' and 'the current unity engine does not/can not phone home'.
The direct comparison is 'don't stream' during the strike stuff, when actors/writers -want- people to stream their stuff, to show high usage numbers. I'm cuing off the people who know more.
@46cd5609@b92dcc07 Absolutely nobody should trust Unity as far as they can throw them.
But what they can't do (mechanically) is go back and edit these game dev's released games. They simply don't have that power/ability. So no 'new stuff' can be snuck in, no gleeful edits or anything.
Most of these games are just smaller indies (not all, Hearthstone exists), and saying 'People should not give these small people money because the big corp is fucking with them' seems...off to me.
@46cd5609@b92dcc07
Respectfully, I think that saying 'never buy these games that were made with unity' or 'never play them' is the correct take here.
Unity is being shitbags. Absolutely nobody is questioning that. Anyone who is making a game in Unity from this point going forward is going to get a bit of an eye aimed at them.
However, most of these games were made before (WELL before, often) this round of shittiness, and this would harm the indie devs more than anything.
@b92dcc07 The really sad thing, to me, about Unity working like this, is there is/was this fantastic space for hobbyists, or young programmers. Don't really know how to code? Well, go in with this, and set this up, and you can make your own little adventure kit game.
And while you're here, it would help ifyou did this and that and here are some books and hey when did I learn to code.
Godot and others will take over, but it's sad when a semi-mature space like this goes dark.
@46cd5609 I mean, I am okay with this for funsies. As long as we all understand it's pure fiction.
I mean, my favorite genre is sci Fi, and do you know how many sci Fi space universes have ftl but time travel isn't allowed?
I'm okay with bending or outright breaking the rules if it's a lighthearted fiction.
Hell in some of those sci fi universes they have capitalism with nanobot construction and space mining, you just kinda have to accept the stupidity.
@46cd5609 I always thought it was interesting in independence day when there is that huge wave of destruction in the tunnel, hundreds of people dying just off screen, and all we care about is that dog ( who does make it).
@46cd5609 Honestly the thing that gets me, is why does it matter so much to them?
You don't know my accent until I speak, you might not be right about pronouns until I say, so what? Unless you are aiming to sleep with me, why does this inform your behavior to such a degree as to cause this level of distress?
@6d5fa5b5@4464071c
Honestly I have nothing but sympathy for creatives for this sort of thing. Twitter's past the point where anyone really wants to be associated with it, but there's also just no way to get reasonable attention for things that you want to promote/sell/share.
It's frustrating, really, because it's things that groups of people would want, if they knew you were selling them, but with bots and spam and siphoned off media, most of your market is unaware.
@46cd5609 You know, I have long thought I should make a game that works with all nfts!
Except in my version, it doesn't give a shit if you own the receipt of the nft ( remember, the only thing being recorded is the bill of sale), and will happily accept urls and frankly corrupted sector files too. Just to deconstruct the entire idiocy of the system.
@4464071c Entirely tangentelizing here, but I really think we should normalize inviting friends over while you do chores/tasks/etc, be in a shared space and talk and similar. Not so much to actually help you with the tasks directly, but while you're doing laundry they can tell you about that time where that thing happened. Drinking is optional.
'Come over and hang out' seems to be seen as...overly juvenile, and it really shouldn't be.
@46cd5609
Alan Turing, chemically castrated for homosexuality after reporting being robbed in his home (which probably led to his suicide), was pardoned in 2013. Leaving aside that we're talking on Turing Machines, he similarly to Oppenheimer had a few things to do with the allies winning that war.
The things that have been done because the powers that be find some people objectionable is....something. As soon as you're no longer obviously useful to them...
