This isn't really a debatable point.

What we're worried about is fucking HUMANS surviving.  The ball of rock is gonna be fine without us, and something will evolve to live

It would be nice if humans, the creatures  wandering around at this moment, continued to exist.  But that's kinda up to us, and nobody has done as much global change as us, so there's no guidebook here
