@439a880e Thank you! I knew this was a popular lake but I hadn’t seen photos or heard it described. Truly magnificent. Almost no one around when I was there too.
@722bd124@f374e1a2 Thank you! I didn’t initially understand how bad the situation was. Still learning. In hindsight, the day was fun but i’m glad I’m back home.
@3868fb3d Thank you! ☺️ I’ll post an update when I have cell. There’s a surprising amount of coverage out here. Worst case, I can’t make it all the way and have to camp again. I charged my headlamp back up.
@68734993 I’m super warm now and trying to eat. Feeling better now. If anything, I have high blood sugar. But that probably dropped. Thank you for the advice! And the trembling and numbness went away. I might be on the road to recovery.
@46553046 Thank you! I’m drinking it slowly. Unfortunately I only have about a liter until I can get to a water source. I currently have to pee so not completely dehydrated. Closest water is 2 miles or 4 round trip.
@c02fb0a2@7320f548 No good. I 100% filter my water every time and i’m careful not to cross contaminate my smart water bottles. I don’t discount it as a possibility though. The symptoms do align pretty well. But I would imagine a stomach bug or food poisoning might too. I did eat some freezer fish a couple days ago that gave me weird vibes. And my diet is horrible, could be catching up with me. I’m craving a salad right now even though I can barely eat my sweet and salty trail mix.
@b6ed0f0c I’m kinda a lone wolf unfortunately. No one in my family could even get to my location due to medical issues and/or age. I may be improving though. My wife can get my location and I posted a photo of my coordinates. But I don’t need rescue at this point. I have an InReach device as well if I can’t get myself out but definitely last resort. I even have rescue insurance so I’ll use it if I have to. Oregon doesn’t charge but ambulance or life flight would.
@46553046 Thank you! Honestly, my wife is in no medical condition to rescue me so i’m going to have to get myself out if I don’t improve. I also have an SOS button if really bad. I might be improving, not sure. I’m also along the PCT and a few people are passing by.
Oh wow am I struggling this morning. My stomach has hurt real bad for 6 hours. I’m in the three sisters wilderness. I took some acid reducer and other stomach medicine. It’s hard to drink water but i’m forcing myself since i’m mildly dehydrated. No way I could eat. I think climbing south sister is out, not sure if I can complete the loop at this point. Probably going to make camp in 4 miles and try to sleep it off. I have limited resources on me but would appreciate any suggestions.
@5b7fbe1b OK, awesome! Sounds reasonable then. I did sleep one night in it with my backpacking air mattress before hiking in the glacier peak wilderness. The back and middle row fold down flat and were large enough. They advertise that sheets of plywood can fit back there laying flat.
Final update tonight. You all were right! I’m glad i’m bailing. Stomach doesn’t hurt but definitely some gastrointestinal issues. I’m about 3 miles from my car and going to lose reception in a second. Will post some photos tomorrow. Have a great night all. Don’t worry, i’m very proficient at hiking in the dark. I’m confident I can get there with no issues.
