@134318c2 Some ants never leave the nest.
Just burrow near their subterranean food sources and never, ever leave.
Like living in a basement with a greenhouse section.
True bliss.
@3967703f Always love hearing from people who were personally present for things.
It's always a much richer story than any you could read.
They don't just say what happened, but also what it felt like for them.
@134318c2@53a7247f Primates vary a fair bit, too.
The pigmy marmoset is smaller than a gorilla's mandible.
I couldn't find a primate pair where one is smaller than the other's eye, though.
The largest primates really don't have big eyes.
@134318c2 And then slowly you escalate to a fully automated, self-replicating greenhouse which starts to take over the city.
People don't fight it, because the fresh produce is free and extremely high quality.
@3967703f I just don't know that enough will get done before things get really ugly.
It's scary.
There are so many signs the weather is getting really spicy, and there's still no political will for radical action.
@3967703f I'm honestly worried about what happens if 2 years' worth of rain happens local to me.
That would flood the entire place for days.
Yeah, it would get drained MUCH faster than any place which isn't the Netherlands, but it would still fuck me over a lot.
And I'm not convinced I've seen the max possible storm intensity, either.
I think I'm just lucky to have been missed so far.
@3967703f@1336114a@e59df6f1@e9dfee67@242b83c8 Cursive is a dying art.
There's just no pressing need for it, anymore.
I noticed that in a very crude way when going over some family bullshit.
Documents would get transited to digitized whenever I touched them.
The originals were all in cursive.
Most under 40s can't read that at all.
Under 20s think cursive is just old timey bullshit.
It used to be a whole world, though.
@7ba4ab84@3967703f Oh, sure.
In a sane DOJ, prosecuting Jared Kushner would be a no-brainer.
But they're so worried about seeming impartial that they're okay with being heavily partial in declining to prosecute people.
@3967703f I guess it was only a matter of time before bothsideism got in there.
"Well, we're prosecuting a guy who tried to autogolpe out of losing an election, so we better have a prosecution of the other side, too."
@3967703f I just think it's wild to have someone pretend NYC doesn't already have damn near all cultures of the world send some people over.
Like, I'd have to carefully go over the census to find which ones coincidentally haven't had someone immigrated yet.
Extra wild for it to be the mayor.
@3967703f Always want to tell people, just because you can endure doesn't mean it's right that you have to.
What if we could spend that strength on making the world better for everyone?
@3967703f It's often hard for people to grasp it's not just the bigotry which hurts them which has to be opposed.
It's all of it. Not one skipped or ignored.
That's what being intersectional ought to mean.
@3967703f There isn't even anyone alive who lived at a time during which the USA had a viable third party.
It would be nice if one emerged and all, but there are literally zero signs of that happening in the next 20 years.
