Why do people hate Zuck? He seems like a cool dude in a psychopath vibe way. Probably things of is as less than ants but prob fun to hang out with. So he made a social surveillance/ political influence machine… so what? Don’t use it. Why hate the dude for wanting to rule over the peasants?

Sounds evil when it's put that way. But, consider what practically every business does every day with A/B testing. Literally playing on your emotions to buy. Not defending FB, but they sure do get a lot of focus when everyone is basically doing the same thing.

That's very fair. The scale is probably the thing that makes it so clearly unethical because you're not casting a line into a crowded pond anymore, you're competely changing the environment the fish swim in.

Jack is a hero. Twitter grew by quickly implementing ideas from user feedback which created the multiplier effect. Jack was lucky in a sense that people at that moment in time were eager for a realtime digital town square. He asked, listened and delivered. But then the bureaucrats and woke people captured Twitter. In contrast, Zuck’s approach with Facebook focused on profit, employing techniques that could manipulate user behavior and emotions for financial gain, without prioritizing user well-being. Despite his success, this strategy is criticized for its ethical implications.

I agree. Even in the book he seems to just want to succeed. Be seen. Be able to communicate. Have sex. A little controlling and entitled to peoples data (surprise surprise) though, but he’d have to be to make it this big. I just like teasing him but honestly got nothing against the guy. I don’t actually think he has sex with penguins 🙏🏽 I don’t agree with some of his choices, but doesn’t mean I got to hate him 🥹🫂💯 he’s probably an alright guy. I don’t like or trust meta, but I don’t hate anyone 🫂

My problem is how they made his skin. It's obviously fake. Personality wise, they did a decent job of making him out to be a squeaky-clean geek (compared to Mt. Dew stained t-shirt that hasn't been removed in 20+ years wearing "neck-beard" that vapes cotton candy flavors).

Creating a mass surveillance tool with the power to control and change political power, maintaining and profiting from it. He has the free choice to choose from good and evil like everyone else, yet he chooses evil. We all do some evil actions occasionally, but he does it consistently at large scale allowing other evil people to do more evil actions and making a big profit over it.

Oh yeah, so evil to create a platform and force everyone's hand to use it! How could he?! And to think he could monetize with data?! Pure eeeeeeeevil! We should have everything for free! Communism, please enter my life.

He didn't force people to use it, but he lies of how it works, it's not transparent or clear. People are responsible also for using it of course. I didn't wrote we should have everything for free. But FOSS is better and more ethical than proprietary software.

Does the average Joe reads all the contract when signing up to Facebook? Plus users can't read Facebook code? Why not make it FOSS? What's sold is not what it really is. Even if most people knew better they would still use it, but that doesn't make it less evil and unethical.

Some people are happy to give up their freedom, if it means that they gain entry into a community. Others are willing to hurt others when trying to solve their own hurt. Zuckerberg was an outcast. He solved his own hurt by creating FB and reigning as its Supreme God. But hurt people hurt others, and Zuckerberg has seemingly not cared about hurting others. If you want to hang out with him, and you think what he is cool, have fun. But give thought as to whether this is really healthy for you. Why do you feel this way? But also respect those who choose to not trust him, or compromise their standards.
