If someone has lied to you hundreds of times before and you found out after the fact, you should not just believe them the next time they give you a statement and print it as fact. This concept is not complicated.

Journalists stating that they cannot corroborate the information yet, and that their source is unreliable and a known liar, is also not complicated.

I'm not going to waste time pretending that it's difficult to find *hundreds* of cases of police having lied to journalists. 

 This survey is a big waste of time, because it doesn't ask the important questions about why Black people feel this way, or what would fix it. "More education" for journalists will not fix this.

1) Cops lie about Black people and crime. Constantly. The first thing cops say following an incident is almost always a lie.

2) Every journalist that works a crime beat knows this. Not "suspects" this. Knows this.

3) And yet, they print the lies anyway.🤡

 I told y'all a few weeks back that the commonly held belief that "toxic, hate fueled, enragement based content, drives the most engagement on social media," is an easily disproved lie.

The most engaging social media platforms (Instagram, Tik-Tok), are not fueled by this content. The most engaging content across all platforms, by far, is not rage content.

The original of this Tik-Tok, made by brown girls, had over 20M views, and another 90M when re-shared on Twitter.

If every auto company owner stopped buying newspapers, the newspapers wouldn't even notice. That's only like, 1000 people. But if every auto company employee stopped buying newspapers, the industry would feel significant pain. That's over 2 million people.

And yet, UAW stories are framed from the perspective of owners, not employees? Tik-Tok and other social media coverage frames it from the perspective of employees.

And we wonder why paper sales are down. 

 If Elon fired half of his SRE team, disbanded his Trust & Safety Eng team, unlaunched the most important features for keeping marginalized groups safe, and broke the 3P ecosystem of T&S tools... we can all see how this enabled abuse.

 Lots of conversation and swirl over the past few days. Here's what hasn't changed, and isn't going to change:

* A space that is safe for white queer people, and not safe for Black queer people, is not a "safe space for queer people."
* We will make the Fediverse safe for people of all backgrounds 
* We will make it safer, easier, and cheaper, for admins to keep the most toxic abuse away from their users
* We will take our time designing blocklists and composable moderation. 

 The super fashy trans folk want the Fediverse to stay uncomfortable for Black folk. Some want to make it even more uncomfortable. Some are literal nazis.🤷🏿‍♂️

Some trans folk pretend to be surprised that there are actively anti-Black trans folk, and ask questions like, "But isn't the Fediverse welcoming to all marginalized communities?"

I used to try to explain that being welcoming to one community isn't default welcoming to another, but now I just ask, "Have you never heard of the nazi phase?" 

 OK, let's get into it. Let's talk about anti-Blackness on this here Fediverse, "civility traps", and "why nazis wear suits."

First: there are some trans folk that love Black people, care about our safety, and want to see the Fediverse be more welcoming to Black users.♥️ These kind folk volunteer considerable time, money, effort, and social capital, to make the Fediverse more welcoming for Black folk. We love them for this.

But there are some trans folk that are super fashy, and hate Black folk.
