Non licensed off grid texting… think of CB radio only text based that uses each radio as a repeater as well so if you get a few high enough that their radio waves are not disrupted, you can reach across states
I first heard about it a month ago on @jackspirko's podcast and since have tried to digest what I could from other sources too, I see @mrecheese 🧀 is doing a hive talk about flashing them tonight, but a good place to start looking is fresnomesh.org
That took the most time for me was getting the correct driver on my computer for it to recognize it and still I think I sorta just stumbled on to it, I’ll see if I can find the YouTube video that I used
I think that was the one that I used that was most accurate… it was confusing because when you go to heltec’s site to get the drivers to get my windows 10 to recognize it, it was all in Chinese. I run brave also and it doesn’t matter if you use a chrome based browser if the computer can’t find the port
I didn’t have to do anything with brave, I had to go into device settings on my computer to enable the port and download the correct drivers for it to recognize the heltec
Hello Elaine and welcome to nostr, I’d say you did great for a first post. Just some tips for using the nostrverse: #1 you are the algorithm for probably 98% of nostr protocol apps (I think there are a couple that actually have some sort of algorithm) so hashtags are the best way to get your content found randomly and is the best way to find new content that you want to see and if you can’t find it right away, add “str” to the end of the hashtag because it’s sorta a quirk some of the older plebs did and stuck (examples are artstr, catstr, etc.) #2. Comment on stuff you think is cool and follow those that make it. #3. Post stuff you like with hashtags so other people can find and follow you. #4. Have fun with it, nostr is still so new like the internet of 1992 and there is still a lot of innovation and technology coming.
I understand that… it took me a couple tries before I figured out running a lightning node enough to use it… not that I’m the best with it, but it does take some time and unless you have at least a couple million sats to play with and throw onto a node, it is tricky to keep it liquid enough to use without paying for third-party liquidity.
Hello and welcome to nostr. Damus is probably my favorite app to get on the nostrverse also, but once you get used to it, you should try out some of the other apps available. The nice thing about nostr is that no matter what app you use, you take your data, followers, and follows with you to the other platforms.
What sports do you like? I’m a big fan of paintball, but my kids also like soccer and baseball.
I floated the idea before for new npubs to start off in an introduction relay that maybe has a tutorial bot just giving the basics including how to add new relays and how to leave the introduction relay
