251. What clothing materials or outfits feel the most comfortable to your MC?
They like natural fibers and simple, comfortable outfits. Jeans, sweatpants, hoodies. In the magical world long tunics and legging-like pants.

12. What would your MC enjoy the most about our world?
Can't think of anything. They'd be horrified. They would find certain aspects of our lives interesting, like tourists do, but they wouldn't enjoy it. They'd pity us and be disgusted. They could enjoy it only in the way we enjoy a creepy, scary horror movie.
Even the people who follow the antagonist would be horrified by how we treat each other and our world.

12. Do you agree with Ray Bradbury, who said, "Quantity produces quality. If you only write a few things you're doomed"?
Who am I to contradict Ray Bradbury?
He talked about writing, not publishing. In my experience, if you write a lot but not publish, you can still improve. But hardly writing anything makes you rusty. Doomed is a strong word. No idea how he meant that. Doomed financially? No success? No fame? Times and publishing were different.

6. Has MC ever done anything contradictory to their values?
Stevie used to be very strict about it back home. Human rights, diversity, nature, environment - these are all protective values.
In the magical world and with things she's learned by now she'll have to rethink a few things. Do not kill gets tricky when you're actively involved in a war.
Robin has similar values as Stevie but he is more conflicted. Both will have to do contradictory things in the future.

@7b682b86 Yeah, I'm 65. Healthcare where I live is reasonably good (though expensive). The only health thing that would scare me with old age, would be dementia or the like. I quite like my brain, it's served me well. 😀
@7b682b86 Yeah, especially at the speed I write. But that's life, I'm 60+. hope to stay healthy but you never know. I'd not post something before having finished at least the first draft of all there is.
5. What are your writing project goals?
Short term: finish the clean-up of the first part's first draft so I can continue with the second part in NaNo.
Longish term: Get all two or three parts written and cleaned up until I'm satisfied (if ever). Get them to my beta reader and then post them on AO3 and my blog.
After that... revive another endless WIP if I still can and old age things don't get in the way.

5. How often do you discuss your writing with your real-life friends and family?
Discuss? Real-life: never.
I discussed my fanfic with my online friend and beta reader and maydo so again if I ever get to that stage with my original work (if she is still interested).
I briefly discussed research with a coworker.
I'm shy about my writing so writing groups scare me. I'm so glad to have found this community here though. You all are so helpful and inspiring. 😍

@7b682b86 I have, last year. There were few people who I found participating, and we played a Nanogre game. A fantasy quest to scare ogres away with our fabulous wordcounts. Sadly, the guy who invented this seems to have deleted his account. So no more Nanogre hunting. But I'm sure we'll all have fun.
@7b682b86 I don't even bother writing an outline any more this year. I know where to start, a few in-betweens and somewhat where it'll end. Relying completely on the pantsing magic now.
If you do participate, let us all know.
@7b682b86 I absolutely love it although I never participate in any social activities. It's just the atmosphere of write, write, write... and I want to meet the goals, yes, and collect pretty badges I'll never look at later.
I'm seriously cleaning up the first part of the WIP right now so I'm all set to write the core of the second part next month. Can't wait. Yup, I'm mad. 😂 Will you be there this year?
89: Do your characters believe in happy endings?
Yes, so far most of them are an optimistic bunch, it keeps them fighting. Of course they have doubts from time to time but if they didn't believe that they could win, they might as well stop now and lie down, belly-up. Even if they were defeated they'd chose to do resistance/partisan fighting.
Of course this could change, people aren't made of stone and wars can break them.

2. How often do you write in a typical week? How do you find the time?
I try to sneak in 2 hours in the mornings. I have very limited time atm which will hopefully get better at the end of the year when I retire. I try to do that every day, but of course there are always 'things'.
November, April and sometimes July are the months where I participate in NaNoWriMo and the camps, that's when I write the most. I'm not sure why, must be psychological. 😄

1. Intro: Shameless self-promotion. What's your WIP? What's it about?
My endless WIP is a 'portal fantasy' about two siblings fleeing from people who murdered their mother and are ending up in a magical world. This world's structure and values are threatened by an outsider and they are drawn into the conflict. They find friends and a new family and help as much as they can. Amidst the horrors of war there's also the joy of meeting dragons and experiencing magic.

13. Do you derive joy from writing? In what way?
Yes. Although I don't necessarily derive joy from reading what I've written. 🙄
When I get into 'the zone' things come almost automatically and I am amazed how creative, weird and crazy my brain can be. I love that stage when the unexpected happens and new ideas manifest. I call it the magic of writing and that gives me joy.
In the rare case of liking what I wrote, I enjoy editing and polishing too.

@d73175df I would love to but there is no way I could meet the deadline and I'm still stuck with a beta read that's so long, it takes me ages to finish.
@7b682b86 Yes it is, and I discussed with a few people, some of them archeology students and one an anthropologist and they confirmed how on top of the then current research she was. We could link it do yesterday's description discussion too. 😁 She wrote a lot of description, too much for many, but I liked it. With that much research there is also always a bit of danger of wanting to show it all.
I've read other fiction about the stone ages but none as compelling. Maybe it was the sex... 😂
@7b682b86 I love it too except for the last book which I dislike with a vengeance. 😬
Ayla was my heroine when I was younger and the series kindled my interest in anthropology, archeology and paleo art.
7. Share an image of a favorite book cover design, other than your own.
I like many designs, modern, retro, you name it. Can't list them all.
I've always loved this particular version of cover art for Jean Auel's Clan of the Cavebear by artist Geoff Taylor. There are many other cover versions, good and bad, but I loved how well the picture covered an important aspect of the book. I also love Geoff Taylor's wildlife art, check it out: http://www.geofftaylor-artist.com/

@a3976b27@7b682b86 I'm sorry and hope you'll escape it. I also hope research will have a breakthrough with Alzheimer's eventually.
I've seen it too. My stepmother had a severe stroke that left her literally beside herself. Her whole personality was changed. FIL had Alzheimer's. It's heartbreaking.
