To be fair LED bulbs are not all created equal. Some are really poorly designed without proper heatsinking and they die within a year unless they are not enclosed at all. The better ones are cooled properly and will last decades. I don't have anything against incandescent light bulbs though, particularly in cool climates.
#Orbot's transparent VPN functionality does not work at all on #Android if a regular #VPN service is also used, and #Orbot does not warn the user about it at all! #Orbot's SOCKS proxy functionality does work, but it you just select a set of apps to tunnel through #Tor, or if you request #Orbot to tunnel everything, it will not work at all, the data will completely bypass #Orbot. I think this is because #Android does not support multiple VPNs in parallel unless it is rooted.
I think the only reason I was able to orange pill mine is the fact that they hate dealing with money and investments and they tend to trust me with it. Otherwise it might have been much more difficult.
Unless you are paid in sats to me it seems less efficient to be 100% on a Bitcoin standard, and due to capital gains implications & FX spread considerations it makes more sense to pay for monthly expenses with dirty fiat. If you are willing to take the spread and cap gain hit, then yeah being on a Bitcoin standard must be awesome for the circular economy.
I think there will still be borrowing and this won't go away. However the interest rate with a money that inflates less than 0.1% annually in 21 years cannot be as high as it is for a fiat inflating 7%+ per year on average. Given that bank deposits are not able to sustainably yield 5% in fiat now, I don't see how can Saylor expect BTC deposits to sustainably return 5% in interest in 21 years. Maths simply don't work, that BTC denominated interest rate will have to come down.
Is the rayioof bad vs good cholesterol more important than the individual level of bad cholesterol? I.e. is it better to increase good cholesterol through through food / supplements vs taking medication to reach a target for yhe bad cholesterol level alone?
Thanks a lot for this, it is the most useful information I have been able to find so far. I think I might have inherited a genetic condition (waiting for a test result that is supposed to take 3-4 months!) and I am hesitant to go with statins right away. I need to get ApoB and LDL-P measurements. My diet was not so bad and I am not overweight, but I did cut on sugar and saturated fats (cereals for breakfast, occasional butter, cream in coffee, coconut oil for cooking) as much as a could recently and tried increasing proteins (lean chicken, nuts, 0% greek yogourt) and vegetables. I was considering taking Omega3 supplements as well.
For me it is the Broken Money video from nostr:nprofile1qqsw4v882mfjhq9u63j08kzyhqzqxqc8tgf740p4nxnk9jdv02u37ncpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9uju6mpd4czuumfw3jsz9nhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wsq3yamnwvaz7tmsw4e8qmr9wpskwtn9wvql3tqm : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk_HWmmwiAs&t=1
#Orbot's #Tor service and #Wireguard 's VPN service keep turning off by themselves on my Android phone and it is quite annoying not being able to rely on these. Anyone else having similar issues?
Your book and the associated video you mafe are always the first resources I recommend to newcoiners. I find them very accessible and inclusive for anyone who would like to start digging the rabbit hole. Thank you for bringing these resources to the World!
Often I notice that the Tor service on Orbot turns off by itself, such that just adding apps on Orbot is not reliable at all. Enforcing Tor as an option at the app level seems better
How can I create a new anonymous identity to post with #Amethyst ? I heard nostr:nprofile1qqsqfjg4mth7uwp307nng3z2em3ep2pxnljczzezg8j7dhf58ha7ejgpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqgmwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxy6t5vdhkjmnsv9exktnrdaksz8rhwden5te0dehhxarj9ekh2arfdeuhwctvd3jhgtnrdaks9hhj2c mention a few times that it was possible, but I could not find where... Thanks!
Ok I see. I thought there would be a button in compose mode to generate a single use account. It would make it faster to write a single message under a new entity and eliminate the risk of reusing it by mistake. It would not allow to continue replying under that identity in a thread though
Often I look at #Wireguard on my Android phone and I notice that it is turned off although it should be on all the time. And it does not always coincide with a phone reboot (it is configured to start automatically anyway). Anyone else has this issue?

The #tailscale app uses Google accounts and such for authentication by default, and the app logs meta data and IP addresses with their server. Hopefully none of that happens if someone uses their own coordinator with #headscale, but I don't know if it is the case or not...
Lots of signal in this episode from nostr:nprofile1qqs82kcxtx2ts0gs6hdaywksurgdyhgtuzg26569ee3pv4ygm5c9qhsprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctvqyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2qg4waehxw309ajkgetw9ehx7um5wghxcctwvs9e367y : https://fountain.fm/episode/mHWYMYqeDilc4XC0A0Gw . This MrRGnome is no BS.
So many brands use the exact same components, there is a big overlap in the offering. Usually unless you go for commercial grade you will not get more quality by paying more, you will just getmore gadgets that are likely to break. I try keeping and fixing all my appliances nyself gor as long as I can, because the newer stuff is even more flimsy and not serviceable...
I came across this today. The list is very exhaustive, but the information about lightning payment support does not seem accurate at all from my experience. Any recommendation for a basic VPS?
Scary stuff. Difficult not to think about the moves of the governments in the UK, Canada and elsewhere regarding the so-called hate speech when reading this article.
I really appreciate all the work you guys have done! I tend to focus more or technical stuff in general, but I do value your perspective a lot regarding making bitcoin accessible for all, either for people that should not have to read code, or for new coiners from less fortunate countries. I especially enjoyed the series of interviews you have been doing recently about being self sovereign without owning an utxo. I believe that nuanced voices like yours are important in our community!
#Tailscale allows you to get encrypted connectivity to your node, and it works even if this node is behind a firewall you can't control or a NAT. #Tailscale does not obfuscate the IP address for your services through multiple hops and exit nodes, as opposed to Tor. So through direct P2P #Tailscale will be much faster than Tor and likely less subject to DoS attacks, but it does not accomplish exactly the same function as Tor. If you want to use #Tailscale it is likely that you will want to combine it with a VPS.
Wireguard works great, but it will not do NAT traversal as opposed to #Tailscale, correct? My understanding is that NAT traversal likely requires a coordinator of some kind, and this is the main function of Tailscale. What I am concerned about with Tailscale is the meta data they collect and if this can be turned off reliably with the Android client if using a private #headscale server
When you start using the same private key to sign multiple transactions, isn't a security issue over time? Wouldn't be safer of they provided a zpub since the zpriv has more entropy?
I meant by providing a zpub, it would still have been easy to verify the holdings, and for them to avoid signing multiple transactions using the private key for the same address. However @ODELL mentioned that they would change private key and address every time any outflow occurs, so the security concern I had does not really hold anymore.

Why haven't any of these ETFs published their shares/BTC yet (except for GBTC maybe)? It is the most useful metric to value these shares... All Canadian ETFs report this metric
