Solo mining into a multisig is an interesting idea. I suppose you don’t need any special pool software to do this.. any solo pool will do. If you want to host this yourself, the easiest way is public-pool on Umbrel.
They were talking about the Canaan Avalon Nano3. It’s not really $99; they charge extra for the PSU. And AFAIK those cheap units are back ordered.
Solid machine though!
@6392ad91 and I did a teardown. It’s well built. ASICs are a bit dated, but noone really cares in home mining. The only thing I can’t figure out is how they made it so crazy cheap.
We have a pretty break neck release schedule, so there is always a “next generation” around the corner! Hopefully they are cheap enough to dive in whenever you’re ready.
Hey, thanks for the #bitaxe shoutout and discussion! I think you nailed it on the motivation behind the project. There are a couple more interesting use cases, which I’d be happy to discuss with you if ya want. Lmk!
Standard USB-C PD does not provide enough current at 5V for the Bitaxe 😭 so it’s a little more involved change. But we’re working on integrating this into a future model!
This is the issue exactly. Even USB-C PD with the chip you mention can’t provide enough power at 5V. I’m working on this for larger multi-chip Bitaxe though.
That’s not a real hashrate, unfortunately. Can you update to the latest v2.1.10 firmware? This screenshot is showing a couple bugs that should be fixed in this latest version.
The bitaxeGamma is go! The newest member in the #bitaxe lineup features the BM1370 ASIC from the Antminer S21 Pro. So far we've been able to pull 1 - 1.2 TH/s at around 15 J/TH from a single chip 🤯
We've got #bitcoin global freedom money to secure here, so everything is open source and permissionless 💪 https://image.nostr.build/c8e66809242e9557573d52a95340e9505d68e500340ac3ba8e1d8aa7681c03d8.jpg
Yeah, overheat mode sets the hash frequency and voltage to the lowest levels to prevent any more overheating. That will persist until you change it back in AxeOS.
I’m not really sure how to get parts in South Africa either! Have you talked with any local contact manufacturers? They may know how to source the parts.
Alternatively if you want to buy a few fully assembled Bitaxe you might talk to solosatoshi.com
This shouldn’t be happening. (It doesn’t on my end). I’d like to figure out what it is about your setup that is causing this. Are you on the OSMU Discord?
That does not sound good! Initially I’d say you have a bad power supply, but you said you replaced it. Please speak with the seller about a replacement.
Sigh, same here. I think a lot of miners didn’t fully realize what it takes to run these machines, and so they think they need a pool with lower variance.. another decision they’re not fully thinking through. 🤷♂️
