How NOSTR Works
Plebs. I remember watching a short, cute, animated movie on how NOSTR works and it uses an analogy of post office. Ring a bell? Yes?
Can you please provide a link? Thx!

Weird SatsMcd. I was just reminded about Tom Brady a few minutes ago and whether he is needed to perform another hail Mary. For the crypto community that is.
How's Ivermectin working out? I bought some but it didn't work for me. I needed to get rid of some inflammation, eye puffiness mainly. Still trying though :)
I buy water. It's expensive. I drank tap when I fasted 44 days and didn't lose weight. Something's wrong with the water. Virginia, in case you're wondering.
Take Two
@ThyLobster I am confused as well. hence the thought. I will take another crack at this.
Assuming we plebs can afford more "storage" and "processing speed" in the not too distant future, then maybe we can increase block sizes and stay "sufficiently" decentralized. Mining equipment is "keeping pace" with technological innovation and making ASICs more efficient as time goes on. More hashes per unit energy spent, that is,
But node runners are subject to limitations (i.e., basic home computing capability) when it comes to block sizes and network speed. That is the feature, the killer app, the secret sauce to Bitcoin's success. I know not to mess with that.
I wasn't there for the Block Size wars (I joined team BTC in 2019) but my question is: could we also take advantage of technological advancements, like the miners, when it comes to block size or network cadence? I assume these fall in the umbrella of node runners, not miners.
I just have to ask the question because I foresee this being an issue as more and more people want ownership on the base chain, not just layer 2 solutions. That IS self custody.
Ultimately, it is about learning why Bitcoin is architected the way it is. The delicate balance keeping Bitcoin alive :)
Finally, I will say this in my defense. I am a card-carrying Ossification-ist. I probably would have voted against taproot and segwit. Still, it is good to discuss these issues to better understand Bitcoin. It is not religion. It is understanding. That's all. nostr:note1jcn5se2g5ex4ntdwndzrln0s387wrd5ezyxucq5qewy5zz63uckqt482l9
Good evening Plebs.
Brace yourself. Ready? Are you sitting down comfortablely? Great. Here goes.
I hate to say this but the thought crossed my mind and now I have to give it air.
We all know Moore's law, right? Basically, computing processors get more powerful and cheaper at a breakneck rate, in layman's terms.
Soooo...if the main worry for the Bitcoin network is decentralization which is plebs having the monetary means to run a node, doesn't that mean we CAN at some point increase limitations of the Bitcoin consensus protocol and still be ok? What level of affordability worldwide are we solving for?
I realize people in the G7 countries can "afford" to run nodes much easier than say in emerging markets.
Don't shoot. It's just a thought. I am ready to be schooled ;)

ORANGE ALERT: Ask Nostr
I think I need to change my Apple products, iPhone, macbook and perhaps my cellular provider (T mobile).
What would you recommend as a security, privacy maxi?

The thing about PIA, it is the same name as the national Pakistani airliner. No, I'm not Pakistani nor Asian. Just OBSESSED with all things airplanes lol.
So Lighthouse, another question for you. Where do I find an old IBM Thinkpad and which site do I use to download Linux? And where do I get win10 (as opposed to 365 these days)? Believe or not, I actually had one but that puppy ended up with my ex. To be fair, it was his laptop not mine :)

On Rant #It'sOn
Lately I have been seeing a few references to Black Swans. It is irking me. Why? Well, because Black Swan are by definition unforeseen events. As Rumsfeld famously alliterated his known knowns, and known unknowns, Black Swan are the unknown unknowns. Put another way, they are acts of Gods. Can't be conceived of ahead of time. So, if you are describing a doomsday scenario, then it is a known unknown. Not a Black Swan.
Clear as mud, right?

Kane, I appreciate your thoughts 🤔 Clearly, you live in the tails of the normal distribution. I just have a thing about being both accurate and precise when using technical terms like Black Swans, derivatives and such. People throw terms like that willy-nilly without understanding and it causes confusion among the uninformed. Which is most people, thanks to our "educational" system.
There might be ideological reasons for some Bitcoiners to join certain pools. For instance, my understanding is that @OCEAN recently took a stance on ordinals and created a template (one out of three so people have the option to mine without filters) that filters them out when mining. They are willing to forgo premiums in transaction fees to "optimize"
for monetary Bitcoin transactions. So that is one alternate case....
Hello there. Recently saw your appearance on @Simply Bitcoin and started reading your articles. Enjoyed your "Bitcoiners are the Remnant, the masses don't matter." Will be going down the rabbit hole reading stuff you referenced. Two analogies came to mind by the end of that article. Reagan's "trickle down economics" and the whole airplane "first put on your oxygen mask should cabin pressure suddenly drop" trope for parents before helping your child. Here's hoping no offense caused. BTW, I'm one of the trainers for spiritofsatoshi.ai. Oy, don't kick me out ;)
It wasn't as easy as previous times but I try to set fasting goals and push to accomplish them. It doesn't happen overnight; It is a "muscle" you train over time. I have been doing it for many, many years. If just starting out, I would start small, just 18-6 and see how that feels.
So that's what happened. When I joined nostr, I expected instant decentralization. Instead, I felt shadow-banned. I still do. Feel shadow-banned. What's the cure?
