people could get creative by giving first listen free, purchase 5 plays at a time so you don't have to keep paying every time it comes up in your playlist, purchase unlimited plays for more sats (like buying a song on itunes), bundle songs together for 1 price (like an album or EP).
This would allow creators to create better business models for themselves and not have to rely on the generosity of zap donations.
V4V is just tipping. Tipping is not a valid business model. People will never voluntarily tip you the value you expect because people have a hard time assessing absolute values of things on their own on the spot, they are better at seeing a price and then making a binary yes/no decision about whether the value justifies the price--YOU have to set the price. It is hopeful to think that you can sustain yourself with the generosity of plebs, and in some communities charity and generosity does sustain people (e.g. the church), but I think in this case it is unrealistic to rely on the generosity of random people on the internet
I spent the better part of my 20s learning about stocks, bonds, the financial system, etc, and settled on the conclusion that I don’t really want to be an investor, I just want something to store my excess productivity that doesn’t lose value over time.
