I’ve sometimes wondered if ETs have set a condition on joining their federation, like they require we have a single government/authority before they will openly interact with us.
Be like “my bitcoin? Don’t even ask. Okay, but… you ever heard of nostr? Yeah, f*ing nostr. Was going on nostr and f*ing spent all my bitcoin just zapping f*ing people for f*ing memes. Zapping? Means sending bitcoin to anyone for no good reason. Was doing that all day. Every day! Till it was gone! Damn, you know how much I gave away?! Shit. It’s all gone now. Why’d you have to bring that up? Buy me a drink.”
While syncing: use Ethernet not WiFi. If that’s still too slow, and you’re using an older machine or raspberry pi, consider installing bitcoind (or whatever you’re using) on a faster machine to do the sync. Then move the data files to your current machine.
A new (to me) concern is that institutional/state control of a large percentage of utxo’s provides them an opportunity to use a subset of miners and effectively isolate those coins to their approved and kyc’d network. They just don’t broadcast txns outside their domain. A network fork I guess.
Interesting, I’ll watch this tonight. But right now, I think it’s uncomfortably likely. They don’t need to overpower the existing network. Once they have say 10 million to 14 million btc under control, they just start using a subset of nodes running their own validation filters. And only sending txns within their network. If they never spend to an unauthorized address then those coins are effectively lost to the existing/organic network. They use their own chain fork going forward. I guess the original network could keep going, but it would be stunted.
@Kanzan bullseye. Yeah, that’s what I’m concerned about. I was also against etf’s for some of these reasons plus some or all of them are going to try the paper bitcoin game. Didn’t realize he was saying this 6 years ago though.
was being a smart ass - it’s the main battle scene in the coliseum. River Phoenix says something like “my history’s a little vague, but isn’t Rome supposed to win the battle of Carthage?”
Were you trying to zap @The Fishcake🐶🐾? I tried multiple times earlier and it wasn’t working. No error, but it never brought up my wallet to confirm. Zapped some others and it worked. Will see if I can zap you.
Was able to zap you. Also able to zap fishcake. Maybe there’s some built in sanity thing that blocks zaps when the current fiat rate is at ludicrous level
Right? The phrase is “came for the profits, stayed for the revolution” or something like that. Nothing like skin in the game to make people pay attention and do some research.
I think gas light fatigue was the straw that broke Kamala. The legacy media and DNC conspired to conceal Biden’s dementia, rationalizing that they could get through the general election. Pile on the soft handling she got after the switheroo and general treatment of U.S. voters like they’re 6 year olds that can’t handle the truth. Whenever she was asked actual difficult and unscripted questions she just couldn’t respond. People got creepy vibes. Things would be different if the DNC had just pulled Biden earlier and ran an honest primary.
More of an overarching strategy to breakdown common sense societal norms to sew angst, mutual distrust & hate, and general hopelessness to promote passive acceptance of state solutions.
I have two nodes. About 7 days ago, one started crashing every 15-20 hours. That one’s on a raspberry pi 4 with 1tb ssd. The errors are always i/o related. df -h says I have 147gb available. But thinking the ssd is going down. The other node is on Debian and hasn’t had any problems.
It’s a class thing, not an age thing. You’re naive if you think there aren’t millennials and genXers waiting to take over for the gray haired banksters of the world.
