@e2bf1c5d
I would say that's androgynous rather than gender neutral. I mean... none of the gender neutral people I know dress like that. They're rather more... flamboyant, with shades of anarchy.
*shrugs* but I'm no dedicated follower fashion. 😀 I'm sure someone loves them very much!
@836df508
As the foremost expert in German oral folklore that I know of... 😀 ... any thoughts?
Looking for stories where a villain blocks a path and prevents people/heroes passing.

@f966abff
I'd be interested in that as well.
It feels like it's just specialist and game designers here. :-/ I really like helping people get started and there isn't really the opportunity here.
Ah well. Maybe that'll change.
@f966abff
I'm missing the big megathreads where people complained about D&D and then I could show them the places where A5e fixed it.
I also sort of miss the perennial "how do I implement X "race"" so I could just link the books I wrote.
Everyone here either doesn't play it or doesn't talk about it in any depth and, weirdly, I miss that.

Things that make my life as a game runner easier.
Plug and play stuff. Quality pregens. Things I can just grab and use. Maps. Love a good map.
I want to spend my time playing not prepping.
@f966abff
I think it was pretty popular on one of the US RPG forums, but at the time there were UK forums I could post on so it never seemed relevant.
And now we live in the smouldering ashes of web 2.0 with Twitter going full X, the algoblob of FBIGWA going full Twitter and LinkedIn snarling at TikTok.
Although maybe Tumblr is good? I couldn't tell you. I've never been able to follow a conversation that wasn't a screenshot there.
@97fb20af
Ah you've been too good and I've run out of free articles for Wired (!!!, a first I assure you!)
I have a policy not to engage with subscriptions where they want a credit card and then it renews automatically, but that's 100% not your fault.
@0662281d
Considering the absolute shambles of Kindle Unlimited and real authors being crowded out of their own work by AI generated word salad books...
But grifters gonna grift.
@484aac85@4464071c
Well, a lot of creatives have found their way to the better moderated Fediverse. They've brought beautiful books, art, games, music and all sorts with them. People who enjoy such things are generally supportive but it's much harder to get your messages and your work in front of others.
Boost them along, and perhaps sometimes throw them a coin, if so moved? Certainly publicity always helps eh?
@4464071c
That's a tricky one because I check smbc as part of my routine (don't have RSS) so that's where I find out about your books and sometimes back/ buy them.
My personal Facebook experience has become abysmal. I can't even see my friends posts half the time. IG is a mess with a constant barrage of right wing propaganda! So weird!
@cb401a9e
Yes, MicroblogFedi does lend itself automatically to "think global, act local" by design, making it easy to keep track of the foremost thinkers in the field and also people local to you.
I find the inherent self-organising properties very attractive which is why I like putting # on posts and helping connect people. 😀
@3862d25e
That seems like something that anyone who is considering #Temu should know about.
Did you know you can edit posts here? Pretty sweet eh? :)

Twiddling my thumbs, waiting for people to get back to me. Got a nice little project to announce.
Buttttt.... can't link to it until I get the all-clear.
@cb401a9e
Well it's probably worth finding climate scientists or other environmental professionals and following them so you have a better understanding. Then find the people who think that things should change and follow them.
At some point there'll hopefully be something that you can contribute towards and since there's a bunch of people here that could make quite the difference.
There is some leadership going on, just insufficient.
Sometimes you read something and think "eh". Other times you read something and say "yes, exactly this."
A case of the latter.

Useful to know. Follow the thread for how to disable this new fuckery from Google.

https://infosec.exchange/@malwaretech/111019619190896517@99019452 - For anyone unaware, Google Chrome is currently rolling out an update that track your interests based on browsing history, then share them with 3rd party websites. The notification page makes it sound like they added a new privacy feature, but in actuality they automatically enrolled you into their tracking system and you have to go and manually opt out.

Dramatic Recreation of the conversation the counsellor had.
"Well, they said they needed a place to stay so I let them have the auld back room and they chucked me a couple of euros for it. Next thing you know I'm a landlord! Now what do you think about that?"
@73204541
Yeah, apparently something is being done with the search function, so that's nice.
You might want to whack some more # on your profile.

and possibly tag a group from the @a.gup.pe family with the sort of history you do.
I quite like that I've seen more German today than I saw my entire time on Twitter.

"The idea that you’re not actually allowed to give your employees nervous breakdowns"
That hits close to home. "Performance managing" people out of a job seems much more the go-to response.

AI company relies on exploiting humans. I'm shocked, sh... well... kind of expecting it in honesty. "Whose training the models?"
https://mastodon.social/@jasonkoebler/111018506673796864@37fd20ed - New from me and @josephcox: buzzy AI company that turns 2d sketches into 3d models with "magic" has actually been using 3d artists in developing countries, who have a goal of delivering an asset to a client 15 minutes after they request it:

I think awareness of the way life actually works is spreading.
When you realise that a lot of the people you see on TV have parents with their own Wikipedia pages.
When you find out that most jobs are filled via social connection
What's the point in working hard for a company that openly or obviously regards you as disposable? The reward for working hard and efficiently is more work. And it all pays the same.
Extremely dispiriting.
