 Gotta get this off my chest: I really don’t like the term “elfgames” for the incredibly petty reason that the games I play never involve elves, and this term is pretty much a non-starter for me as a result 😅 I know that the term doesn’t literally mean a game with elves in it… but I just can’t get past the word

 @f966abff I also don't like the "elf" part but it embraces the silly nature of out "some"games. For me it is both - acknowledging the not-cool nature of RPG in society's eyes as well as provoking the superserious elitist parts of RPG community.

I hate portrayal of elves in modern fantasy and RPGs. I loathe it, despise it with all my heart. Which makes it even more satisfying to say I play elfgames. Suck it, haters

I think it was pretty popular on one of the US RPG forums, but at the time there were UK forums I could post on so it never seemed relevant.

And now we live in the smouldering ashes of web 2.0 with Twitter going full X, the algoblob of FBIGWA going full Twitter and LinkedIn snarling at TikTok.

Although maybe Tumblr is good? I couldn't tell you. I've never been able to follow a conversation that wasn't a screenshot there.
