I used to work and spend a lot of time in that area, and I had 5-6 hours before I had to be at the airport and thought I'd have lunch and stop at a couple of book stores.
I did get to the book stores, but only for a few minutes, and had to skip lunch, the drive over there and back to the airport took the rest of the day.
Insane.
I mostly avoided the interstates the whole time.

I was staying downtown, were I hadn't spent much time before, and the traffic right in the middle of everything was much better than the fringes and OTP. Druid Hills and out by Snellville was ridiculous. Seemed worse than just a few years ago.

I was wondering rehabbing McCarthy was the point of all this, or what the point is.
I don't believe the Civil War.
Republicans do what they're told. Gaetz isn't out there making strategic decisions, his risk of falling out a window is too high.
@2a70c54d
I saw Waterworld in the theater and pretty much had no reaction to it, and have no memory of it.
I remember thinking it wasn't as bad as they said, just a non event.

I'm really trying to learn to take compliments more elegantly. I like them but I don't think I realized how weird I was being about it.
Just kind of freeze up.

I'm trying to stop using gendered phrases like "Hey guys" and use the more neutral "Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up!"
I like to remind everyone occasionally that these billionaire Nazis are not just going to quietly go away because we tell them we don't like them. They didn't come all this way to just turn around and go home.
We need to be prepared.
"MASTODON IS DOOMED!" he shouted to anyone who would listen, "DOOOOMED!", and they gave him a little smile and a pat on the head and then continued on with their jokes and discussions and pretty pictures.
@3967703f
When Dan Rather said "Americans will put up with anything provided it doesn't block traffic" I thought there was a bit of hyperbole there, but apparently not.
@3967703f
Thinking maybe the Nazis aren't just going to give up and always planned on this coming down to forcing our hand or seeing if we flinch.
Are we going to flinch?
Mastodon has more of a world wide user base than most platforms I've used in the past and it's been really eye opening to realize that it's not just the U.S., there are assholes and weirdos everywhere.
What a crazy coincidence that billionaires and their big tech companies are ruining the internet as a reliable source of information, crippling search and filling it with AI produced nonsense, right as there's a world wide Nazi billionaire movement to destroy democracy.

The last few years have shown us that most people just listen to what the media tells them and don't question it. If the media isn't making a big deal out of Republicans trying to overthrow the government and install criminal Nazi rule then it must not be a big deal.
People can't seem to figure out that the media is in on it.
In general I'm surprised at how many people can't see things happening, only what has already happened.
