I do. #nostr attracted bitcoiners largely because of the public/private key and decentralisation understanding. That understanding and why it’s important needs to become “normie universal” alongside making #nostr easy-to-use and a place for all topics (and the “other stuff”).
I see “normies” as those with interests other than bitcoin who I might follow and engage with (because I find them interesting). The term is very open to interpretation though.
True - definitely had an impact. I’d also argue the MSM had an impact too. BlueSky garnered significant MSM coverage post Elon Twitter acquisition and it’s easier to use for those used to usernames and passwords.
Hmm, I’d follow an expert on lichen. 😁 I’d class them as a normie though - with an area of expertise. It’s a funny term. Perhaps I think of the term more as a non-dev, non-bitcoiner. 😅 Someone who posts about interests, experience, expertise outside of bitcoin and dev. (caveat: they can still be a dev and a bitcoiner 😅).
Yep, although I’d argue that more are not actually. Real science research community is poorly represented on all social media in general. It’s simply not suited to it or the “done thing”. But of those who are on there, why are they? Ego? Peers are on there as well? Twitter market penetration over time?
I agree (I have interests I don’t post about akin to the lichen expert). Can even compare this with the number of Brits here. Feels like that number is barely into double figures at the moment. I’m hopeful things will evolve in time though.
It’s basically to prevent “goal hanging” (players hanging around the opposition’s goalkeeper). It’s quite a simple rule. What makes it contentious is being able to tell if the player receiving the ball was behind all of the opposition’s defence players at the exact time the ball was kicked to them. Hence the introduction of VAR to digitally do what the official linesmen do (those officials running up and down the side of the pitch).
Other main rules include “fouls” I.e. impeding another player - the severity of which leads to either a yellow card (a warning, but get two of those during a match and you’re off the pitch) or a red card (bad or dangerous foul) and you’re instantly sent off. Fouls committed in the penalty box area lead to a penalty.
You also can’t handle the ball hence it’s called football 😁
That’s crap! Name is not even close. I could understand if it were ClockBlock or even BlockWatch but one references the coin the other the chain. Weak and very fiat, and not a good look especially considering the community that it’s aimed at.
Breaking my self-imposed “no posts until $100k” to say this:
This NPUB is unofficial. No official British broadsheet would spell decentralised and centralised with an -ize. It even states this in The Guardian’s own Style Guide.

Nice! Very nearly bought one of these as a runaround a few months back but decided it was a bit on the small side plus I didn’t really need it. Fun little things though. Enjoy!
Lovely words that I can really identify with having lost my father at a young age too. It’s amazing how their small actions can become very profound. Cherish them as I know he cherished you. 🫂 We’re also all perpetually young at heart and you’ve many years ahead of you. Plenty of time to figure it out… Sleep well! 💜
Almost 25 years later and I STILL haven’t watched the “The Beach”. Must get around to it…
Always found this quite pleasant (along with others from the film’s sountrack):

😁 I hear you. That said, I’ve been back to the Ministry of Sound in London when I broke the big 5-0. I decided the young-uns would have to deal with my presence and not me with theirs. Was a blast!
This is true - it really doesn’t leave you regardless of age. It’s why, if you can get them to open up, 80 year olds from any generation are incredibly fascinating…
Totally. Used to catch the last tube at night and the suspense definitely builds up. Lived towards the end of a tube line that emerged into the open. (I think ‘twas the Northern Line towards Woodside Park and it was always quite eerie when alone).
