How many of you keep an analog clock up in view, and actually read it? I just recently got mine working again. :)
I have many. All of them are capable of receiving WWV and they all set themselves every day, including accounting for daylight savings.
I want them in sync from my internal NTP server XD
So you can get an atomic clock with the reciever. If the reciever doesn't pick up the signal (try to get an ultra atomic one, it's the newer protocol), you can kinda hack it with your own DIY transmitter. But, if you just want one get one of these: https://www.lacrossetechnology.com/collections/ultratomic-time I've seen them for 50% off at Walmart though.
I wear an analog watch. I'm not sure that counts.
It counts! Whats the peice of choice? I haven't warn a watch in a while. Analog only, however I did switch over to a fitbit for a little while because it was a gift. Knowing your line of work its chonky?
$6 temu special. I haven't broken it yet. That's better than the $30 chinesium unit I had at lasted maybe a month before I shattered the "crystal." This one even came with a NATO strap (my preferred style) that actually fits my upper-decile wide wrist. That's also rare. The coating is incisors rubbing off and it never sweated up, though I do not trust it to be even water resistant. 10/10 would buy another one. I might, just to have it here before tarrifs hit and double the price. 😅 #watchstr #watch #edc https://files.sovbit.host/media/0689df5847a8d3376892da29622d7c0fdc1ef1958f4bc4471d90966aa1eca9f2/52ea1e0871fcb3c36e152c032910c5acea203eb616af2a2288ef0bd8dec7eed6.webp
That s not bad. I some point I started to like metal link bands. Anything but rubberized stuff. I could probably do the fabric too though.
Metal = grounds = getting zapped more. No thanks. That happens enough every day... 😅
Yup. Yup. Checks out. Carry on. XD
Yup. It's an issue with most jewelry.
@goldfishthumb1 builds watches just sayin
Yes. But I'm very bad with watches, in that I never pay enough attention to them when I'm wearing them and it's never been worth it to get a "nice" watch. I do think that they are rather snazzy. I'm just... Not that fancy?
Eugene said to me when I first met him and asked what’s the “best watch” and he said “the one you’re wearing”. 💯
Heck yeah, I'm interested!
that is what i am talking about!
I will definitely be updating #watchstr as soon as they are available, should be next year!
How buy? I took a look at his bio/websites. I'm not seeing any of his notes older than about 2 days from my relays.
He was thinking about making a custom one. Talk to him about what he offers now.
I don’t actually work on watches actively anymore, sorry - I worked at a watch shop a couple years ago and built watches there. I did design this watch, but just the exterior. It has a MD7081 movement in it, my old boss designed the movement, but it’s still in production. This is just a final proof before the order was placed by my old boss. THE WATCH: titanium case, 41mm, sapphire crystal, with custom titanium bracelet links 20mm lugs so it’s easily swapped out for a NATO strap from BluSharkStraps or Panatime. 4 bezel/dial variations: blue, orange, textured bezel/carbon fiber dial and totally luminescent. it will be around $500 and you’ll be able to buy it from Maryland Watch Works in Hagerstown, MD. If ANYTHING happens with the watch you can send it back and Eugene Stohlman will fix it himself. Since it will be sold through MWW, I don’t know what kind of warranty will be offered, but I’m sure it will be really decent. Regardless he is very reasonable price wise since he’s a one-stop shop for ANYTHING watch related. I will definitely keep you updated as soon as it’s available, should be next year. https://i.nostr.build/tkPkKh8gAkoLzV43.jpg https://i.nostr.build/CQfWA8pUmh7E94u1.jpg
Yes
Of course it does! I met a kid recently from Toronto my sister’s age that had no idea how to read analog.
I have a digital clock on my stove and phone, but the rest of the clocks I look at are all analog. I find it easier to read.
Yes, because that's how everyone Gen-X and older learned how to tell time. And add it, subtract it, calculate it, etc.
We do. Led light makes you sick so
Always. On person, In kitchen, And a 24 hour one in the shop.
You're the second person to mention wwv. I will have to check this out apparently.
What is it?
It is TIME for you to learn a new thing. WWV is the callsign of a radio transmitter run by NIST that transmits an accurate time signal clocks with an appropriate receiver can use to keep themselves accurate. Most clocks with this feature are sold as "atomic clocks" because WWV and the other radio time signals like WWVB and WWVH use the atomic clocks as their source of time. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWV_(radio_station)
