I think it really comes down to the lack of people that are on this protocol. You have to keep in mind that it's only 3 years old. The devs are building it as fast as they can without having that much funding. So they're doing it at their own expense with their own free time [there are exceptions obviously (Opensats contributing)]. But I think what you're feeling is the growing pains of being early to something that is revolutionary. It's not supposed to be easy and it's not supposed to be comfortable. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth it. Stick around and dont give up. You got this 🫂
It's also about stalking and potential fear is serious injuries. I was nearly killed by a stalker. Curb stomped and almost killed. It's not comfortable that the only thing I can do is mute a potential threat, but they get to look at what I post and share it with their potential bad actor teine of friends.

I'm an adult worker. There's no not sharing my face or body and it's the only thing that works, and I don't want it to be the only thing that works but it is.
I hate that those risks exist for you. I dont have all the answers. I'm also not here to lay judgement. But you have to know that having all those eyes on you increases risk. You have no way of knowing who's eyes they are.

Also, i don't know if you can because it depends on where you live, but you should learn how to shoot proficiently and carry a pistol. Seems like you should have that on your person 😉

You are absolutely right, I wouldn't know what suggestions to give you. One has to have luck and perseverance. Bad times pass and Nostr is always better than any other social network I know.
It’s easy if you’re not a Dev or a follower of a Dev to lose interest. But use this protocol as a platform as you see fit. We’re in the growing pains. We’ll get there and when you continue to use it and it blows up (which it will) you can say you’ve been here from the earliest stages.
Not sure if I’m muted but, as a non dev I couldn’t agree more. There is definitely a lot to improve in terms of content, most is either Bitcoin, Nostr or programming in general related. That being said, we are the ones that make it different, we can start doing content we would like to see. You do content and it is probably not being appreciate it enough, but is just the limitations of diversity. Is not your fault, we just are early. Give it time, or maybe just do like I do and just engage with other users without expecting anything from them (or at least that I tried, sometimes I can’t help myself and I expect some sats back).

I don't think you need to understand all the nerdy talk or even participate in it. In fact, I often say technology is best when it fades into the background. That said, we need to grow Nostr to more conversations. As for the stores, I've sold and bought more stuff via Nostr over the past year than I have in my previous 3 years with Bitcoin. I've sold phones, I've sold crafts, I've bought shirts, steaks, and artwork all because of Nostr via Nostr marketplaces or my own. My friend @John52, the friend that I told you about, that I setup his online store, sells lots of merchandise for bitcoin. @isolabell.art 🎨 sells artwork for bitcoin. People do want to part with their bitcoin, you just have to find the right people and audience. As for safety, I'm sorry that you can't truly block here, but please remember that if you blocked someone on Twitter, they would just create a new account to view your content. Blocks don't work. Hopefully devs can build more tools for you to give you more control and more privacy.

I just use the Shopstr.store integration on Amethyst now. Proof of Ink uses Woocommerce and BTCPay server. I bet videos in those already exist.

I'm too stupid to implement BTC pay server myself. I've tried the vids, it still escapes me. Shopify is also dropping BTC pay server er API. Will others refuse to allow it to function as well? I've also tried woo. It also escapes me how to use it. Your reach and list sold items for you Derek, not just the products. More eyes equals more buys. None of the stores even leverage NOSTR to sell and zapervise. The stores could have a page and bot that randomly boost listings and leave room for the sellers to zap people for sharing listings.

Could you help me understand how they do work? For example, I've had someone block me on Twitter and I just opened up Twitter in a different browser session and viewed the tweet. I did this recently to screenshot the Moscow Time origin tweet since that bozo blocked me.
Use an anon account to engage with and keep your current account active just don't use it. Then tell only those you trust who you are using the anon account. Then use your original account once you feel safe enough to use it again! Emphasize safety measures when using anon account and with time I'm sure devs will fix the problems you see affecting you while using your original account. Hope things workout for you!

You can. You can run a relay, set rules, use others that are paid, etc...

If you’re willing to encrypt the notes independently for each of your subscribers, akin to sending all of your content via DMs, then your subscribers could unencrypted and broadcast your content, but the unencrypted version would not have your digital signature, which means no one would have proof that the rebroadcasted note originated with you, which would decrease the motivation to rebroadcast it in the first place.
I suppose not if they also have access. But if you controlled access, you could easily block. If they couldn't see your relay, they wouldn't see the note at all. Freedom means people are allowed to be free. Free speech means they can say what they want. I fail to see the issue.

your notes would be private if you only sent to 'members' allowed on your relay. They could then be able to rebroadcast. You could then perhaps kick them off?
That's what that accomplishes, but it doesn't prevent someone from downloading or screenshotting, same as everywhere else.
I'm not worried about screenshots, most people understand not to do that. Rebroadcasting because they didn't realise it was a private relay that I had given them access to is more of a worry. If that can be stopped that's great. We probably need a way for people to buy virtual relays. I don't want to share pictures of my family publically, but if I could get them onto nostr I would like to in a way only they can see.
I don’t understand most of what’s on here either, but I’m optimistic about it - and, it’s really early. Building a reliable revenue stream is damned hard everywhere, but I think you are going to do that here if you can hang on a while longer. A lot of good people here will root for you, buy from you, zap you sats, and these tough times will inspire great dark art.

What the others said, but, additionally, having people with your life experience and willingness to speak up here on Nostr incentivises the community to work on features that support your needs. Customised, proactive filtering is something I've been working on, and persons like yourself are the most valuable source of feedback.
That's why I've been saying that we should have option to send our follows private notes, or to take an entire npub private, with encryption. In addition to private relays. Some people need more reach than they provide, but they want to be able to block someone in particular. DMs aren't enough.
I think that could be implemented in the client, with mass-sending of DMs to a follow list. We have all the components.
Of course, it could be implemented. It's a matter of setting priorities.
