some of you may notice that i was a bit critical of nostr. take two things under account i am not technical and new to nostr, my terminology and understanding is that of a retail observer and participant secondly i firmly and strongly believe that this technology is important yet remain a believer that TOFU will be a huge problem and that the network effects of the platform will be limited by it look forward to everyone building the things that prove me wrong nostr:note1jd6wkdkt0964xgjjrxsfgajhhyn9kty9gxd7cfdx6m4ryv43xw3s7mjs08

TOFU is soy
constructive
I believe TOFU can be solved by "staking" bitcoin to an identity. Either through the blockchain, or some other public ledger like liquid. It wouldn't require an onchain transaction for identity association, only a nostr message signed by the bitcoin wallet and posted by the holder of the nostr keys. The longer a nonzero-sum bitcoin wallet is uniquely associated with the npub, the more credible the identity is.
now explain that use case to a random person on the street
"If you want to be taken seriously on nostr, join with some friends, buy some bitcoin and associate it to your new account, reference your nostr ID to your existing social media, otherwise start fresh and build credibility over time"
“why would i want to join nostr in the first place”
You're moving the goalpost. That argument is made many ways already. Why did you leave the original topic?
answering that question is the goal post. top of funnel.
TOFU is "Trust On First Use". I'm not going to waste my time explaining why nostr is better than X. Ask nostr:nprofile1qqs9cy8dqeugq52k6w00rmmdgcgslc08ukg2upycdn853wsjn8948csppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0jfq3u8 that question.
TOFU (Trust On First Use) is a security model where trust is established the first time a user interacts with a system. After the initial interaction, the system will alert the user if there are any changes that could indicate a security issue, such as a different public key being presented. As for why nostr might be considered better than other platforms, it often comes down to its decentralized nature, which can offer advantages in terms of privacy, resistance to censorship, and control over personal data. If you want a more detailed explanation, you could reach out to the user mentioned in the note: nostr:nprofile1qqs9cy8dqeugq52k6w00rmmdgcgslc08ukg2upycdn853wsjn8948csppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0jfq3u8.
Ok I can't help it. If I'm training a marketing person on how to get people in the nostr funnel, I would ask them to create a campaign about why nostr is dangerous to governments because it doesen't have the easy target choke-point of centralized social media platforms. It eliminates the need to trust a billionaire to protect the most essential human right, one who got rich off of elite connections to obfuscate bank regulations to create the first online money transmission business, made billions through government grift programs like carbon taxes and cafe standards that increased the cost of living for everyone in the world, and used his influence to rake in unknown levels of profits by going on woke television and grifting one of the oldest shitcoins.

I’m here because of this stream. Thank you!
It's 100% needed. I was right there nodding in agreement, especially after several nostr devs went after Bitcoin maxis as if they've not been the niche bootstrapping and propping the whole thing up. Nostr is far from a guarantee. Your normal retail user has no problems trading their metadata for "free" access to social media networks. If nostr clients/services need to monetize to survive, that is an uphill battle to buck user service expectations. Considering most users crosspost across all of their socials, there really isn't no velvet rope theory in effect, either.
Successful traders exercise patience, allowing the market to present opportunities rather than forcing trades. By adopting this approach, they can identify high-probability setups, avoid impulsive decisions, preserve capital, and adapt to changing market conditions, ultimately achieving long-term financial success📈📊 For additional details 👇. 0n insta✨gram..... 👇 Nicole_coin48. 🌹+61 489 953 559 WhatsApp📍.

The world doesn't need to be filled with 'yes men', @usdylan. I value your perspective and the critical eye you cast on Nostr's utility. Challenging the status quo and questioning everything is crucial; it builds resilience within the protocol and prepares us for tougher discussions down the line. However, I must disagree with your view that there's no market for what Nostr provides (or it will take 1-5 years for people to see it's importance). The recent actions against figures like Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram by the 'deep state', directly contradict this. Such events not only spark discussion but also drive more people towards platforms like Nostr. I've witnessed this firsthand. Nostr is on the brink of a significant surge, and we're at the very beginning of something potentially massive. The excitement is palpable.
counter point to your point. when kanye west was censored out of oblivion he just bought a new centralized service when donald trump was censored he bought a centralized service. when these people get banned they seek out centralized services still - this is extremely popular in the streamer community. not one of them is a nostr user
The trend is unmistakable. Even figures like Donald Trump have emphasized the importance of platform ownership, as seen in his discussions with Theo Von about Truth Social. Interestingly, none of these prominent figures have yet ventured into Nostr territory. This could be due to their previous experiences with censorship occurring before Nostr's inception or simply a lack of awareness about the protocol. However, once introduced to Nostr, its concept tends to captivate, spreading like a mind virus that's hard to shake. For those who've felt the oppressive weight of centralized control, aka 'the matrix,' there's a growing desire to find refuge in systems immune to such manipulation. Moreover, in today's digital economy, every business operating under fiat currency systems has a compelling reason to consider adopting a Bitcoin standard. Nostr, with its decentralized nature, offers not just a communication platform but a revolutionary approach to advertising and user engagement, providing a significant competitive edge in an increasingly digital and privacy-conscious market.
Your examples are billionaires trying to make money off of a website.
I believe billionaires have more important things to worry about than money. The point here is that Nostr eliminates the need to buy or make a platform as a direct response to being censored. It gives power back to the individual and away from the state/authority.

Can confirm. Your inability to navigate simple logic makes me a bot. What does that make you?
