#RageQuitAlert 🚨🚨🚨 My dad used to say this to try to minimize the sting of not getting what you want: “if we had eggs, we could make eggs and bacon - if we had bacon” Well, i’m not sure who needs to hear this, but it could be all of us Just because you and me and others see amazing potential in something does not mean it will come to fruition, especially not in the way(s) we expect Bitcoin has already shown us this by going from for cypherpunks by cypherpunks, to being for everyone - including the “commies” and “normies” and “trannies” and “joos” and “suits” that some of you shit your pants over regularly as if that’s a healthy mentality. It’s still heading towards what i personally believe is its destiny, full-blown global money. So that’s cool. Could be wrong, but that’s my highest conviction in terms of any belief regarding the potentially distant future BUT, and sorry but i’m just being honest here… i am not so sure about nostr. I’m not saying it’s due to the predominant topics of conversation or the onboarding flow or the funding structure for development or really anything in particular But the truth is that this is a niche community on the internet. A very small niche where a lot of incredibly smart and talented people enjoy each other’s digital company and many build things together on this dynamic, incredible, open protocol. It has a lot of potential for sure… but stay humble, i guess that’s ultimately what i’m trying to say. Think for yourself and be honest with yourself. Double check three times daily that your head’s not up your ass and you’re not in a small deadend cult-de-sac, and if in doing so you find that you are, genuinely assess whether you’re truly ok with that Personally i’m not ok with that and right now i’m feeling like that’s sorta what’s going on here. I am certain the potential is real, and i hope the potential for the potential to be realized is high. I guess i just need a break! So that’s what i’m gonna do. If history is any indication, i’ll be back shortly. But in this present moment i hope i can give myself more time this time. I’m a poor mfer living in obscenely expensive fiat world. I have to focus my energy on productivity for the sake of my wife and myself and the son and daughter i’ve been having visions of someday raising, and stop embracing diversions My sincerest apologies for expressing such uncomfortable feelings. I'm not so sure. I tend to agree with most of what you say, but there may be an assumed premise I disagree with. If you're assuming there will ever be another #Twitter of #Facebook, I don't agree with that. In that respect I disagree with Musk too. From now on I think it's all fractures. Some will use Mastodon, some #Bluesky, yet more will use #mewe or #gab. Some will move further off base and use #XMPP groups or #Matrix - which now has 60 million users and hundreds of thousands of groups and yet the media is ignoring entirely. My point is, there will never again be a global town hall and that's because we don't actually need one. I think #nostr and #mastodon will connect for those that want opposing views and stay apart for those that want enclaves. That's the #future :)

Breaks can be healthy, and I wish you the healthiest break. Remember that every commonplace technological innovation was once niche—telephones, cars, indoor electricity, the internet, etc, etc, etc. As you said, think for yourself, but also don’t be blinded by yourself. You're a real one. We'll be here (hopefully) when you come back. Yes it's definitely miche with a ton of potential. I think nostr is currently pigeonholed as a Twitter clone. I think the focus shouldn't necessarily be on non-bitcoin content, but to build out useful non twitter-like applications on top of the protocol. I believe the true killer property of nostr is digital identity and reputation that follows you across apps. This applies beyond just social media.

This doesn’t sound like a rage quit to me, sounds like honesty. 🤙 This part really resonated w/ me right now: “Just because you and me and others see amazing potential in something does not mean it will come to fruition, especially not in the way(s) we expect” Been struggling lately with my own expectations and seeing the full potential in certain things that are not being fully realized to my satisfaction. It’s a rough place to be in and has been leading to a lot of frustration and wanting to ‘rage quit’ pretty often myself.
