Okay then. As I have said this still adds one step that can be avoided with any L1 crypto. And the fact that with any other crypto all you have to do is remmember 12 words to fullh recover your funds but with lightning you need to have the 12 words, the hsm secret and all the channels (the second and the third one you cannot really write down on a paper) makes it harder for journalists, especially if they are using something non persistant like tails
To receive? Yes, there is no more steps. But to send there is. Which is the important step since to use the money you have to send them. And hsm still has to be backed up on some kind of digital storage that can get confiscated at any time.
You still have to open a channel to the lsp if I underatand correctly whivh still vomes with all the downsides I mentioned in my first comment. Correct me if I'm wrong
To send transaction on
Monero:
- Open wallet
- Scan/paste receiver address
- Eneter amount
- Send
Lightning:
- Create a node
- Open at least one sending cahnnel (pay the on chain fees)
- Hope that you haven't messed any of the settings and everything goes through
- For some unknown reason get a channel with less money than the one you opened
- Open wallet
- Scan/paste receiver address
- Eneter amount
- Send

I don't understand what olympus is and how does it work. Is it basically a node that you connect to and it opens channels to other nodes you want to open channels to? If it works tjat way it still has the problem that it is centralized (if you only oprn a channel with them and not anyone else).

Seriously though, this is such a cool app that is connecting many open source networks. It's a big shame that it is proprietary and I and probably many others can't trust it with their cridentials.
How is the government going to track who made a transactions. It is not possible. Especially of you "wash" the coins. Yk, I am not telling you to break the law 😉
I am not talking about the bank transfer. They notice it. The thing they can't notice are the transactions on the blockchain(s). Especially if you have passed through coinjoin/monero/(insert privacy layer here).
They can follow transactions but if you clear your coins it would be much harder
Then you would need to buy wahtever coin (I recommend litecoin since fees are low there and isn't as regulated), swap it to monero, make a transaction from one wallet to another (in monero) and swap it again to USDT. That should erase you from the coins.
Additionally you could make the second swap in 2 parts since having two swaps with similar amount in fiat could still be traceable to you. You could even do it to two different wallets from two different VPN connections to completely erase the path. But those are for the really paranoid.
I can't assure you that the glowies won't knock on you door but that is a method.
Alternatively cash by mail exists.
Tagging attack isn't a reliable method to deanonymize you since it requires all rings to be compromised which isn't likely.

There is a huge possibility for spam and fake reviews here. Right now it is not a big issue but if (more like when) nostr grows it will become a bigger issue. There needs to be some sort of human verification.
I have also lost +/- 6 years of photos with google. When I started degoogling my life I tried loging into my acc. Yes, I did write my real age before I knew anything about privacy but I was using that profile for many years without any issues. The issue comes with the fact that they didn't give me the option to download my photos. They gave the options to only save my emails and contacts.
