@e98d9fa0 man, thank you so much. Just fucking loving this project.
By the by - the 3D render, it is making me laugh in the best way possible - I love it. Can’t wait to see it come to life.
It’s one hell of a round of FediPaint already.
BINGO! I promise I’ll work on my #FiveforFriday patter.

@e98d9fa0 *nods manically* utterly acting the bollocks on myself this time round. I’ve a stupidly month, should be getting my ass 100% into job hunt mode, and instead an idea I’ve no idea if I can execute it came into my head and will not go away. So, wish me luck 😂
@50f56f6a Looking at the result, totally worth it. They're pitch perfect. Always wonder could you bring up the old card buildings to 3D that wouldn't look over the top or overly busy. You've nailed it here.
Relaxed interview with #JohnBlanche talking through some of his artwork. I think the channel is due another video with Blanche and Pirinen around #Mordheim is briefly mentioned by Tuomas who himself briefly features. Well worth a view.

@1709f638 cheers! That’s really appreciated, it does feel like I’m on the right track with this one. Always fancied having a crack at the Marienburger scheme but never fancied the effort of working with so many vivid colours, this is a great reason to have a go.
@13df7ed9@941023ef there’s great insight in them. It’s very much want in a hobby interview, tell me something about the goings on under the bonnet within a really nice chat.
@e98d9fa0 there is really some great detailing to it. The Sigmar S on the shoulder totally passed me by until today. The whole Mordheim adjective range they have is the same. So super characterful across the board.
@7b4f43a1 shame there’s not more of that in the system though, it feels like the right place to launch multi species teams with some big narrative to it.
Enjoy Stargrave!
@7b4f43a1 nothing in there at the moment like this sadly. You could always a count as force, but I’m struggling to think of the right team to give you the Farseer, tough space dwarfs, and some more light infantry… hmmmmm
Have you had a look at Stargrave? Sounds like it’d be right up your street from the narrative side of things!
Make blisters a thing again.
Limited Edition Luthor Walfenbaum (the narrator of the #Mordheim rulebook) produced by #HeresyLab
There is a damaged hilt to sort out, but that is fine, I’m going to try and sculpt a hilt guard there. Hoping that’ll push him even further towards looking like a Marienburger. Let’s try and paint all the bright things for #FediPaint 2.0; the colourful edition. 😂

@e98d9fa0 Oooh that’ll look great if you go that route. Any creature in mind?
I’ve got a rough plan at this stage, I’ve a few copies of the second Luther Wulfenbaum miniature made for the Mordheim FB group. Thinking of painting me a Marienburger out of him. I’ve some stuff planned for the base as well as I enjoyed that part so much last time. Red, Blue, Yellow, that’s a serious riot for someone who paints mostly in mud 😂😂
@e98d9fa0 Feel the same. I really like the type of interactions, like this, that you get here. They’re totally different to hellsite, insta, or Facebook groups. I am sure that for some folks they prefer the other kind of platform. But same as you for me, I’d rather one natter here, than any number of RTs or whatever.
On the minis - me too, being completely over ambitious - can’t wait. Loving the idea of colourful, not a colourful painter, and utterly love the idea of the challenge.
@6b6e36ca I was just scrolling this morning and seeing boosts heading to 50 and I was just instantly happy. Really looking forward to getting lost in another mini. Was scribbling what I want to do all last night. 😂
Just boosting this again. It was really fun last time round, there were loads of great minis and #WIP shots to see on #FediPaint. Best of all, it was some lovely relaxed #hobby community building. Again such big praise from me to @6b6e36ca for doing this.
Also, looking at the numbers this toot’s doing. I think it’s disingenuous to say it dead quite here anymore. It’s slowly growing and the culture is evolving along with it, but it’s still a largely positive hobby space.

@0e241662 if you do end up across let me know and I’ll send you a few bit to do an see. It is an amazing place, loath as I am to admit it (and live in it 😂). @99b9ed46 you too so long as it’s not bloody festival time 🤣
@0e241662@99b9ed46 I think what I’m saying is if you go to Edinburgh, go and see Leith before the Buy-to-Let Landlord Wankers Class rip the heart out of it anymore. Well worth a walk around the back streets and lanes. Lots of under appreciated architectural quirks of it being an interesting port and a former Burgh in its own right. And getting a beer in Malt and Hops on the Shore is a fine, fine way to pass some time 😂
@99b9ed46@0e241662 Hold on a minute Edinburgh is generally dry, like not dry like you lunatics who all live uncomfortably close to the equator have it, but dry. The Netherlands is practically on the surface of the sun, never mind Spain 😂
Edinburgh is a cracker in Sept/Oct. Still a bit of light, if you get a dry spell, it’s bone-chillingly cold but it’s a proper riot of autumn leaves and sandstone. And there’s nothing like taking the scarf off as you get into some of the bars.
@99b9ed46@0e241662 Also, maybe do the festival once? Maybe. This is probably local syndrome kicking in but it’s just unpleasant in the city in Aug. Lots of arts always on, so you’re not missing culture if you come at another point. Your just getting more space to look at the pretty things, and paying normal prices for things rather than the Aug premium.
Now, enough nice said about the City of Edinburgh, as a former blow in Leither it’s a bunch of wankers up on a hill. 😂
@6fe784ab aye, that’s probably the way I’ll go. That said, I am becoming less of an absolute thug with Agrax Earthshade and I think that makes me sad on a level 😂 is getting better at painting worth it? If everything doesn’t look like I threw it in a bucket of mud 😂😂
@6fe784ab Many thanks! Poor fella was languishing behind his two other buddies I’d been working on, so finally got him done. Still think the handle could do with a wash, just a bit flat.

@d73392f9 I think I flicked past the model ranges when I’d looked at OPR, just didn’t click how nice they are. You’re bunch are so good I’m going to have to look at them again. Also, didn’t have the word count to mention the Dwarfs (#BloodBowl equivalents) - the armour on those is a thing of pure beauty.

@13df7ed9@36ae45e5@99b9ed46@dbd5311b I’ve found here that it does come in waves, once the accounts get blocked, and there’s been no clicks, I think the spammers move on.
@36ae45e5@99b9ed46@dbd5311b Snap with Ian. Had been looking since the reports came in, and seen a couple of folks nattering about it. I then looked though some accounts - there’s a good core group of hobbyists over on (Mastodon . Social). If we blocked the instance, we’d cut them off, so unless it becomes regular and utterly crashes the experience here, I would be erring on a cautious approach.
@99b9ed46 keep em coming - I’m only one mind, and will be following logical pathways and not thinking about others, so comments/feedback on Explore/Spam/Tending etc is all welcome, anything really, even if it falls out of my remit - I eventually get nattering to Ian on it.
Just a curiosity- you picked up on any/much spam from here? We don’t get that much, but just curious if its noticed or if we catch it quick enough. Last one was 15th of Sept - can’t remember exactly, had you joined us then?
@99b9ed46 😂 that’s a totally fair comment. Couple of ways to manage it, I can kill the invite link semi regularly, and reissue them to anyone wanting to pass them out. We can block email servers from registering accounts. Worst case scenario we could screen sign up requests. But I get you.
@99b9ed46 I spend more of my daydreaming time thinking about a smooth onboarding to Mastodon than I’d care to admit 🤣
- Simple sign up - invite link to server
- the Explore section is now monitored so has some stuff for folks to get started with
- Suggested accounts all motoring too
I’m tossing and turning on whether to compile a list of accounts that folks could just follow straight off the bat by uploading them like you do when swapping server (with all the accounts consent obvs)
@99b9ed46 also there’s a relay I’ll pick up with @36ae45e5 on that looks like it’d be a good fit for Warhammer . Social to join. Lots of hobby Adjacent instances that would populate the Federated with more hobby content from decent folks across the fedi.
@99b9ed46@36ae45e5@6b6e36ca don’t think there’s any need for that. The invite link just removes the server confusion for folks to wanting to slide across about “selecting a server is hard”

@6b6e36ca love the sound of a theme. You could just tie it in with #Orktober / #Orctober?
@36ae45e5
1. Have any of us still got an account on hellsite 🤣🤣
2. Think chucking a link/note over there would be great. There’s an invite function here to join the server.
3. I’m having a look now about the announcement feature, I’m either being really stupid (high likelihood) or I’ve not got permissions for doing one
4. This was an excellent prompt for me to drop you a few notes today on some admin bits
@c5bffeca I love the KillTeam Combat Mechanism. Both roll all your attack dice, then starting with the attacker declare a dice at a time an attack or a parry. Just find it a really satisfying mechanic.
….but… I think my favourite is the d66 injury table in Mordheim. Just love the variety of misery you can inflict on yourself. Causes all sorts of swing in your narrative- the classic archer who loses an arm and can’t fire a bow anymore.
@9c3277bc have some more, really **really** enjoy seeing the stream of these in the timeline. The style is just so cool, and they’re capturing something I love in 40K that you don’t see much anymore. Just a sort of sketchy and unhinged vibe.
