All of the jackasses running their mouth about #capitalism when they don't know what it is are making me about to give up on social media and the whole human project.
If you think "capitalism" is the root of all evil you don't understand what capitalism is.
Am I defending capitalism? No. No, I'm not. What I'm saying is you're
A) using a term so broad it's confusing the real issues
B) you're at best identifying a symptom and saying it's the root of the problem. It is not the root.
@3967703f@62a04c04 a coup is an act of sedition. This appears to be aiding Russia in a war against our ally and the United States, treason. These mfers are so anti American they've managed to commit sedition and treason.
@419623b4@3967703f Al Gore won that election because he won Florida but Roger Stone led the Brooks Brothers Riot to get the people in MDC to stop counting.
Oh, and Third Party Ralph Nader got 97,000 votes in Florida way more than the 500 or so votes in MDC that supposedly tipped it to Bush.
So, no, Gore didn't lose because he was a climate kook. He won and the GOP stole it.
@3967703f hopelessness. The point of the Gerrymandering and the arresting of people and the neutering of laws that give ex convicts the right to vote back and the attacks on everything from gay pride parades to DisneyWorld is to fill people with hopelessness.
The Florida Democrats get almost nothing from the national party to combat this besides condemnation and agreement that it's hopeless.
It's NOT hopeless. It's time for rage.
I didn't agree with #DianeFeinstein on a number of issues. I also wish she had retired rather than running this last time.
But I stand in awe of what she did in her time in the Senate as a trailblazer for women. No hagiography from me but I salute her today.
May she rest in power.
Oh shit. #KamalaHarris is going to be on my campus tomorrow. I just got the invite. But good Lord with this short of notice I'm not sure I can make it. 😱
@3967703f@4088c5b1 his own party said he did.
But he gets what he wanted: an overwhelming reelection margin built on lies and fraud that Philip the taxpayer will have to pay for.
He's doing this often--the human trafficking of asylum seekers in an example.
I learned yesterday one of my classmates in Florida claimed asylum in Florida TEN YEARS ago and is still waiting for her trial.
@f884fa2b this week Trump has called for the highest ranking officer in the military to be executed (for working with the Trump White House to keep China from attacking us no less), imprisonment of any media who are critical of him and the resignation of all Democratic Senators.
A couple of weeks ago he suggested he'd have Biden arrested and executed.
It's not a stretch to say he sounds like Hitler. It's a fact he sounds like Hitler.
@3967703f this is 100% correct. Too many liberals and never Trumpets think the Right has a different idea of what government can be under the Constitution.
They hate the Constitution. That's why they rebelled against it in 1861 and why they still wave the flags from that rebellion. They want the Confederate States of America and the CSA had only one priority: enslaving and owning humans.
@3967703f I was trying to explain to my classmates today why I still consider Biden a neoliberal (he really only cares about the economy). 🤷♂️
Better than fascism (and most presidents, honestly). I'll happily vote for and campaign for him.
But damn it the alternative to a moderate neoliberal shouldn't be fascists. It should be caring about people regardless of the damn economy or the cost. Life is precious.
@3967703f absolutely insane that people at a nursing home / rehab center would be unmasked. Same with schools. COVID rampages through those spaces. Greatly improved HVAC could be a way to partially maybe significantly mitigate that but well that would cost money spent on people not contributing to the economy right now and we can't have that. 🤬
@46cd5609 my favorite part of Prey (the predator prequel) is the dog. I couldn't watch until I made sure the dog lived. And he does.
Apparently, the dog, which was a breed that may have been present at the setting of the film, was not a good actor. Didn't follow directions. But it was super lovey and every one loved her (I think it was a her).
@46cd5609 I actually rather like that movie in general. The dog and the main character are great.
Predator, Predators (with Adrien Brody) and Prey are great.
Predator 2 is kinda like They Live, so bad it works.
The rest I pretend don't exist. Including the AvP movies.

@edc128e6 I read all of this and I am struck by what I'm always struck by when I read Tom Nichols: this man is paid to have epiphanies as a supposed expert with decades of experience what I realized twenty five years ago fresh out of college.
I understand why so many people are Republican intellectuals: it's the ultimate grift for people with no talent.
@e396cd52@74aff7f9 she's really fantastic. She was tied with Warren for my preferred 2020 nominee. And I'm hopeful and excited that she'll be the next person to occupy the White House, God willing, in 2029.
@3967703f@59a7c264@00ae2f40 I swear affluenza is real. So is unlimited access to cocaine and speed (and no one telling you to moderate using). Pretty sure those are connected too.
