@edc128e6 I read all of this and I am struck by what I'm always struck by when I read Tom Nichols: this man is paid to have epiphanies as a supposed expert with decades of experience what I realized twenty five years ago fresh out of college. 

I understand why so many people are Republican intellectuals: it's the ultimate grift for people with no talent.

Mitt Romney built THIS Republican Party. Institutionalized racism, misogyny, homophobia, and white Christian separatism as party platform. No matter how "conservative" Republicans claimed to be, The Southern Strategy was the core value and singular driving force for the past 60 years. MAGA isn't a symptom, it's result
