#Amethyst keeps timing out on image uploads, even when clearing cache (several times). nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qythwumn8ghj7anfw3hhytnwdaehgu339e3k7mf0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tch2deau
I don't really mind lol but I think this could really annoy and confuse new people. (If we have any lolol;) )
Didn't realise Kamala hasn't made a public appearance (or statement?)yet. There's a concession speech due shortly.
I can't imagine what kind of person would go to a Kamala concession speech? Staffers only surely?
Kamala will be quickly forgotten. Even during her campaign I genuinely kept forgetting who 'Harris' was. But I'm not American.
The Voyage app's onboarding is the only client (I know of) that tried a different approach with hashtags /topic follows, rather than people follows.
The recommended follows on nostr are particularly offputting. They are either people from bitcointwitter who barely even post. Or people who are a tight clique here but perhaps offer little to no interest to someone new.
But then again you assume everyone is social media-savvy enough to know that user recommendations on platforms are typically not the greatest offerings, anyway.
Ah I see. I was wondering if maybe eg has nip05 become an important factor? Joining a paid relay? Maybe not now that the spambots are away (for now).
Cos that would be very tricky added onboarding experience problems, for people on zero sats, people totally unaware of lightning. (ie people who have no come from bitcointwitter).
It seems like for a lot of people this election was one based on a decision making process along the lines of 'The lesser of two evils'. And most people thought Kamala was more evil.
And tbh if a Kamala presidency was going to be like a Starmer government, I think they might have a point.
I think it is odd that an advertising relay hasn't been made. (I know there aren't many of us here that might be a factor). I think it could actually be a selling point for some people, especially people arriving on zero sats. I know it's not for everybody and most people here are probably quite wealthy and on above average incomes,.so it wouldn't appeal to them. But I think it could function like how Brave Rewards should be.
Obviously it would need some mechanisms so it wasn't abused with someone spinning up thousands of npubs and claiming advertising rewards. (Maybe PoW and caltchas - no idea).
(Anyway if anyone wants to go into business with me lol...)
That does exist yeah. But I was thinking of people opting in to a relay that adds paid+for posts to the timeline, and similar to brave (or Slice), the viewer gets a certain percentage of this 'ad space' revenue. Or something.
Atm following the asknostr hashtag is a bit like this lol, there are people self-promoting and some of it feels a bit like spam. So it wouldn't be too dissimilar lol, but at least the recipients would get paid to see the self-promotion.
(This is also part of a wider problem of discovery, something which eg the primal trending sidebar totally fails at when it shows you their top 20 read-receipted posts. But that's another story lol)
I'm surprised Slice didn't do this first. But it's a good idea. I think it could also be a good way to attract some people (not for everyone obviously lol). Good luck:)
I don't know if there will much civil unrest tbh, a lot of the left didn't support Kamala and I suspect there is not much of a rabble for them to rouse anyway.

Just learnt about nyctography because of some cheesy YouTube short. It's an invention by Lewis Carroll to help him jot down his ideas at night without turning on a light, apparently. Thought you bitcoin heads might like this for a seedphrase storage or something.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyctography
Nyctography is a form of substitution cipher writing created by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) in 1891. It is written with a nyctograph (a device invented by Carroll) and uses a system of dots and strokes all based on a dot placed in the upper left corner. Using the Nyctograph, one could quickly jot down ideas or notes without the aid of light. Carroll invented the Nyctograph and Nyctography as he was often awakened during the night with thoughts that needed to be written down at once, and didn't want to go through the lengthy process of lighting a lamp only to have to then extinguish it.

Didn't realise Curtis Yarvin was working on Urbit stuff again.
Funny to see Urbit and Nostr users want some of the same things lol

They also say you have to 'pay in crypto to use nostr'. I think this is partly some of them being deliberately disingenuous and their usual snarky 2010 twitter tone. And partly cos the nip05 verification thing is confusing.
But I wonder how that message spreads and how effective it is to put people off
Does anyone have a good syllabus/reading lists on Christian theology? #asknostr #christian
Are there any particular universities/courses to look up for this?
Was thinking a site that listed syllabus details from university courses could be interesting.
You could just download the syllabus and go it alone or you could form some sort of public and/or private group of other people also 'taking' the course.
I wonder if AI is good enough to assess coursework?
Anyway just an idea. Maybe this sort of thing already exists?
thank you:)
these are great suggestions. I was hoping someone knew a site that has people leak the course syllabuses and reading lists for courses to people outside of their intranets and whatnot.
Have you felt she was gonna win throughout the whole campaign? 🤔
I started thinking Kamala, then trump, back to Kamala. Now I'm thinking it's too close to call. Lol. But I'm non-US.
Slightly confused...

Are St. Gregory Palamas's Triads included (in full) in the Philokalia vol. 4?
I'm which case I may as well buy that(?)
I am tempted to leave nostr entirely, i sort of settled with using nostr very sparingly during a 'bullmarket', and not at all when there are a few % pump days. (There's no point, I know what nostr is saying without opening it).
My twitter feed is on the whole much better all round, but certainly during biggish price moves up, and down. (The only person on my twitter feed talking about the price of bitcoin pumping is jay dyer lol).
I think a lot of the post Actually About Bitcoin get lost in the Slogans About Bitcoin and posts About The Price of Bitcoin. Which is why some people mute the word(s) on nostr, when there is no real need to do this on twitter, even if your twitter feed I s a bit bitcointwitter bubble.
Lack of subculture bubbles, definitely. Lack of mechanisms to foster subcultures thriving here and little or no reach to attract other subcultures here in the first place.
But mostly no one cares cos they want bitcointwitter2, and they have it too lol.
it's quite literally the most common and damning complaint about nostr lol
but it gets brushed under the rug with 'they're not ready for freedomtech' and 'there's no algo here to spoonfeed you on nostr'. completely ignoring the cultural problem and lack of network effect and even worse... a lack of any hope for a network effect.
it's sorta funny for a bit, but it's been the same since i've joined a wee bit ago now.
I think I agree. Mostly their recommendations and sidebar. Very fixable. But they seem to have no desire to appeal to anyone outside of bitcointwitter. Although that is not unique to them, even.
