#asknostr anyone familiar with getting unsolicited SMS messages from "insurance companies" in portugal?
i've received two today and there is zero relation to anything that is my business
probably just a wrong number though... they seem to recycle numbers at vodafone in madeira pretty fast
also, i had very bad tummy problems when i was little, right from the beginning, even the cow formula upset me, i was "colicky"
well, turns out i have celiac
this is the Dom Tower in Utrecht i think
never did the walk to the top of it but spent time there in christmas 2015, i think it was hmmm maybe 2016... i forget exactly
it's a beautiful city
visited the place out at Boa Ventura today, had a coral stout and chat with the agent, signed the lease, now paid the deposit and first month
have keys in pocket and can go there as soon as i want to now
got work to do though, so i'm going to do the move after the work is done
oh yeah i also learned that possibly one of my dutch cousins is also a client of the agent i'm renting through... i will have to try and arrange to meet him sometime, i bet he is not that distantly related... he's from the netherlands and there is only a few hundred of us in the world
i was instantly smelling fishes because of how it was being presented
it appeared on my radar because of that carvalho guy and he never won any credibility from me from his past performances
i'm not familiar with this german acceent but i can almost comprehend the german... or is it swedish or something?, so many german words in it though, bereit, schuss...
australia has a great firewall now doesn't it?
most countries have government blocks on stuff now
like rutracker.org can't be seen from portugal, but via my wireguard tunnel to bulgaria i can see it just fine
and then, the other day, i had a site blocked in bulgaria, but turn off the tunnel and works from portugal
hooray for VPNs lol
you need to get a VPN that goes outside of australia
i cannot recommend enough wireguard as a basic first step to getting out from a restrictive network... if you know SSH and bash shell stuff you can set up something with a cheap VPS anywhere in the world, even set up multiple, for liek $5/month, and be able to appear wherever you want on the internet to the rest of the world
i get a lot of cloudflare captchas on some sites but i also rarely see a "this site is blocked yada yada" message
i take solace in the fact that the more governments try to stop messages passing across the wires the more incentive there is for other governments to turn a blind eye to letting traffic transit them since that profits their treasury
and that global government is never going to sell. end of.
ok tbh i'm not sure about at free... most golang signature and encryption implementations include a step at the end of stuff where they write zeroes to each byte/word of the memory of the objects
i think someone wrote a nice memfence thing also which triggers an interrupt when nearby memory is accessed
if they made the GC zero the memory at free that would be awesome... but i can see why it might not be... they should add a flag or something for sensitive values so they are definitely zeroed, that would put Go above all
i believe that the toyota corolla is the model of car with the most produced units of all time also
when i was in serbia my friend would say "what is the car with the most manufactured units in the world?" to prompt for Corolla which sounds the same as the serbian expression Ko Rola? "who's rolling?"
man, i really totally forgot how long it takes for me to recover from the egg alergy... days... now at 4 days, still getting bronchoconstriction... i ate lettuce and goat liver and pototatos today... if it's the damn frying oil >_< but probably is, too... and more generally just the continuing immune malfunction still misfiring
hopefully this won't take much longer to clear... i may have to actually fully go on a fast at this point, i still feel pretty bad
it was also a big part of how an animal rescue organisation was getting donations too, the whole thing is disgusting.
new york. everywhere those blues run the place it's a shithole
i knew there was something suspect about pubky
the name alone puts me off, personally... but if it's basically just rebranded keet then sorry #notsorry it's not going anywhere
it also reminds me once again about how important auth and paid relays are for privacy on nostr, and getting messaging working will be a huge boon for adoption
alby opening up signup is a big booster for nostr as well, because being able to streamline the key management and lightning in one little tool is critical for enabling payng for relays, which is critical for actual privacy... tooling to streamline deploying private relays like what cloudfodder does with relay.tools is also a big part of how we win
nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzqwrcm9wm0wz5cwsd8vkkk7lehu5txctzhejrym64yxa8rnemgknfqythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcqypcmrxcfylnllhlyhzu8f4c69vs6qj3j7mqafd3na7gqjhun90mhzl9nkff
it's stringified json even lol
and yes, generally no impediment to changing it, most codecs will swallow whatever you can un-escape out of the content field, so long as it has the main fields in it
relays don't even look at what's inside the content field at all for any reason, only the tags, and only the single letter prefixed ones are indexed
changing the rest of the structure of an event is probably gonna break stuff though, but honestly, for what reason would you do this? and profiles don't even use tag fields necessarily, though often clients will populate them with any hashtags in the "about" field
unlike mastodon, or BS, or FC, you don't need to ask someone to implement it in your client
btw is it you who came up with this idiotic name "pubky"?
did you consider that maybe you are just being obstructed by a problem almost all nostr devs whine about except for the in-group who have push access to the nips repo - that being the ridiculously slow and arbitrary responses to any proposal at all... i've pretty much quit even bothering to file issues over stuff these days
also if you aren't #nostronly you may kindly sit and spin
me too... super excited about checking out a new madeira "little house" out on the edge of nowhere that i visited the area around it the other day
the further i am from the machinations of government and evil bankster sumbitches the happier i am
i think any far out of the way place has sufficient quality of a frontier about it though
doesn't have to be actually unknown to have that sense of peace and possibility
w00t!
i'm seeing this house in Boa Ventura tomorrow morning
by what the guy said, i was very close to stumbling upon it on my outing the other day, it is quite a ways down the hill near Sao Christoval not so much in Boa Ventura, which i'm excited about... he said there is no buildings on one side of it at all down to the gully/valley near the hill, which is what i suspected by the photographs
i have to organise something by 22 december anyway, in any case, so this works out well... and he also told me that it's not a long walk from this house to the nearest shops, which is also very helpful
w00t w00t gonna live in a crappy little brand new madeira "little house" way out on the edge of nowhere :) relatively speaking, way more isolated than here, and quiet, no dogs next door, he said, that is great - when i told him i live next to 3 chihuahuas he was like "ohhh" hehe
also, i'm guessing they won't complain about me growing some vegies in that dirt patch to the side there... it's winter coming but it doesn't frost so i'll for sure be able to grow lettuce and cabbage and a few other things, not even sure what i would grow
it's on a minimum 2 month lease too, but i'm gonna probably just stick there until i stack enough sats to make the move to wyoming or montana or utah or whatever
oh yeah, i bet i can grow strawberries in it too... that's a bit more work but i know they grow well here, over on the other side of the island in Camara da Lobos i walked past big strawberry fields
yeah, it is possible, also i looked into it and all of the instrucitons included the use of apache or nginx... which put me off completely
making a git repo that is only https is the easiest part, literally it's just SSH, the rest is done over SSH... if you know of an easy guide how to get the http side working i'd be very happy to hear about it... i don't want to use docker or apache though
I'm used to eating beef and sheep liver and it's way too stinky and nasty.
https://i.nostr.build/liLRwDTGJC1LE9jN.jpg
This is goat liver, and it has a much milder flavour, and it's nearly neutral when boiled. This is fried, and has more of that liver funk.
Reminds me I have a liver and heart in the freezer. Should eat it before it gets too much older.
#goat #liver #foodstr #madeira
Alifi is always begging when I eat meat at the local sombuente, but he https://i.nostr.build/GJZTSE4K2HiGeN6N.jpg is extra extra excited about this goat liver.
I was reading something the other day about vitamin A and liver is one of the best sources
And this is the best liver. It's going on my regular now. Goat is easy to get around here. I love goats. They are the GOAT
#monero ded
This will be big for lightning too, I'm sure.

Oh man... I remember now how much relief I had the last time I was eating eggs and got the nasty allergy and how much better I felt when I stopped, after a few days.
It's awful because eggs are maybe my favourite food at all.
It surely must be what they feed the chickens, and I can eat them if they aren't fed this toxic waste.
Just yet another thing to look forward to once I get my homestead/hermitage organized.
Just must not forget. Absolutely cannot eat eggs on this island. Period. They make me very sad and sick.
i like the yolks of duck eggs but the white is icky compared to chickens
but that makes sense... here there is practically only one kind of egg you can buy and it's cage eggs that must be fed soy... soy is just so fucked up, i mean, i was fed it a lot as a kid and it was probably less toxic a product then but now i wouldn't eat it if the alternative was to starve, this genetic modification is *shudder* so utterly wrong and unnecessary
i've never had problems with eggs before but i realise that i've mainly ate free range for years
Yeah, I think so. Quantum computers have a complex somewhat analogue computation mechanism but I can imagine ways to do it to get a 12 value "bit"
As it is, transistors work via a three part mechanism made of three diodes. Diodes are basically like those valves with balls in them that in one direction they don't obstruct flow of liquid, but in the other they block. Or a simple Reed valve (yes, diodes are valves) where you have a flap that closes when fluid pushes it one direction, and opens in the other.
Transistors only do two states, but I think you can even stack them so they have 3, and then as I say, two normal transistors and a trinary, and you have a circuit that can represent 12 values.
I do think that base 12 is the best. I believe our universe is entirely based on 12s. The Babylonians had a base 60 system which is based on 2, 2, 2, 3, 5
A lot of math is more precisely calculated compared to the 2 and 5 of decimal.
part of the reason why i became a mech keyboard freak was after killing dozens of shitty membrane keyboards
i can destroy one in about a year, laptop keyboards are even more delicate, maybe 6 months i can kill one of those
my current keyboard, i have two of them, one for backup, the switches are socketed so i can pull them out and replace them if i need to
the switches stand up to way more usage than membrane switches though, i mean, probably i could get away with not getting another keyboard for 10 years, pretty much if i do get another one it's going to be because it has more keys, i'd like at least 90 so i can have a dedicated number pad on it. there is a cherry POS ortholinea that i've had my eyes on, it has 140 keys... but for now i'm good, really i just want the 90 key 5x18 grid
well, you read my posts... that's part of the reason why i love these ortholinear mech keyboards and why i type dvorak layout... it's literally because i type so much... if you typed as much as me you wolud also want light keys, mechanical, and ortho too
it took me about a week of 2h a day doing typing lessons with the new layout before i could type again without looking and about 3 weeks i was typing faster because it was less strain... dvorak is definitely superior
i'd be willing to modify the layout further if i had a tool that tracks the frequency and sequencing of keypresses to figure out if they could be optimized further, but it's pretty good as it is
my typing output is at least over 5000 words a day on average... "a lot" is quite relative
i also have issues with pain from typing, so i really like these super light gateron whites - had cherry silvers before... the gaterons springs have 38nm resistance force and actuate just under 2mm down, so i don't have to push very hard on them
if you read what people say about these kind of "fast" switches most say "you make more typos" but i have not found that to be the case... maybe at first, yes, but once you get used to the light touch you don't
btw, if average keystrokes per word is 6 then that means 30,000 keystrokes per day
if you look at the specs on many keyboard switches they are only rated to run for about 1,000,000 which works out to 33 days per key
only mechanical keyboards can withstand this much work... i've had many keyboards crap out on me between 1 and 2 years after buying them
lol, bitcoin developer clueless about running LN infra
credibility just fell below 0 for me reading this

It probably can do noise protocol. I mean, private keys are all the same with most algorithms, only the 4ubkey is different. Probably can use these keys with TLS easy enough.
begging to the government to put a commercial garden or build a shop
there is already plenty of law and case law relating to neighbours suing for damages over your impeding their customary enjoyment of their own property, such as building a tall building next to low buildings, and such. it's really not necessary to have a government zoning bullshit, it just makes for an ugly, uniform, institutionalised vibe
zoning laws in most of the Balkans are extremely lax if any at all... most of the commieblocks have shops at the bottom floor, or workshops or garages... people set up shops wherever. there is no laws against you laying out a bunch of stock to sell on the side of the road even, anywhere, no permission required so long as you aren't blocking traffic
Very interesting stuff.
In Apocalypse of Yajnavalkya it talks about how after Jesus the Age of Pisces would have two phases, just as the symbol and the constellation are two fish in opposite directions, the age is divided into two periods.
The first, about 1200 years, is the Age of Jesus. This spans the time from the life of Jesus and the establishment of his church. This period is notable by the lack of strong governments and the beginning of free markets.
Nick Szabo has a good article about how Christianity and church clocks were the basis of the modern concept of employment, by establishing a common clock, similar to how Bitcoin's protocol is all about what computer scientists call "weak synchrony"
Then, beginning around 1000-1200 we see the first establishment of copyright, and letters patent, government protected monopolies on business, and the government registered corporations.
From then until now has been the real dark age, the second fish of the Age of Pisces. The age of Satan. The age of atheism, which is really just satanism lite, with the Devil hiding under the capital S Science. As in Fauci style.
There is a massive disaster coming in the next 30 years, that will almost like this podcaster describes in a hypothetical total destruction of centralized power, mean the end of the modern state.
It will also mean a massive loss of our modern internet, because the sin is going to fry most electrical infrastructure and radio systems are going to mostly be destroyed. We will have to go underground, we will all have to be armed, because the centralized systems will no longer function, and there inevitably will be marauding gangs who only listen to when you are prepared and able to kill them.
But what we have gained will not be lost. We will continue in the pockets and holes we build to shelter from an "evil" sun, as happened the same 12800 years ago. We will devise telecoms devices that use entanglement and computers that run purely on light and magnetism, and energy from nuclear and antimatter.
Probably our ancestors who long ago left, leaving behind Giza, will return and help us, maybe they evac, or maybe they just come teach us as they did long ago to Adam, giving us the agriculture we now depend on.

I may need to try this as a form of fasting.
Haha.
I need to think about this for a bit but it might just work. Especially if I brew it myself according to this recipe and brew it for like 2% alcohol.
