 @2a70c54d

yup. GOP has been trying to gut public education and college education so there are less folks with critical thinking skills, knowledge of history/civics/economics. makes lying to them easier.

 @2a70c54d

TOS is fun, camp, and definitely sometimes unintentionally funny. not quite to the level of the adam west batman, but i laugh out loud sometimes at both.

 @2a70c54d

the 50+ cis-het white presenting male had the most unearned privilege throughout most of the their life and is the most rapidly shrinking demographic these days. in this case, the dinosaur can actually watch the meteor that will wipe them out.
 No no no, Republicans. You gotta carry this speaker for a full term.
 @c3a3f988

which is perfect, since we all know that once carried to term, GOP totally deny any form of health care, education, or other benefits.

cuts through wood, metal, bone, overly slow coworkers, whatever. ;)
 I feel like I need a small chainsaw.
 @30ce86c6

at a bare minimum, everyone should have a sawzall. you will find that you never run out of applications it is suitable for. ;)

 Explain to your kids what it was like to see Windows 95 launch
 @2a70c54d

i still twitch and my stomach lining is still damaged from it. ;)

my team built the entire WAN and modem network for MSN for the launch and i spent the prior 6 months on campus testing that and the dialup connectoid in win95. want to see me flinch? just play the tune win95 plays on boot.

 @2a70c54d

most of the time, i go to a company with some project/objective in mind. seems most take 2-3 years to achieve. the only places i've stayed longer, i've had multiple different roles & projects and most of those also fit into the 2-3 year time frame per role/project.
 @2a70c54d

as soon as i saw manchin supporting no labels, i knew it wasn't an honest or viable party but some sham, bought and paid for. digging up a trail to crow just confirms my initial assumptions.

the conservative right, finding that buying and owning the GOP isn't getting them the fascist oligarchy they dream of, is trying every trick they can find to try to stymy the democrats.

 @2a70c54d

indeed. my tiny amount of schadenfreude at seeing how he is suffering after getting his "dream job" is completely drowned under my anger at all the damage and chaos he and his dysfunctional/idiot party are doing to so many people. the blast radius from GOP cruelty is just staggering.

 @2a70c54d

the only folks that benefit from training vids are the ones paid to product them. i have never done a mandatory training video in which i learned anything other than how to get through that particular broken tech as fast as possible.

 @2a70c54d

not worrying about catching covid is like playing russian roulette, with adding one more bullet each time you catch covid and play again. i don't get the "oh, what's the big deal" attitude so much of the world seems to have.
 why is updating my iphone worse than having a wisdom tooth removed?

i'm at the other end of the spectrum. the speaker was torpedoed by the lunatic fringe for not being crazy, destructive, and disruptive enough. the two most likely replacements are definitely even more crazy and destructive than mccarthy but the GOP won't ever unite behind anyone that isn't; too much of their caucus are also wingnuts.

it boggles my mind that we got here and that so many folks still don't see the GOP for what they are and what they are trying to do. yes, they own the press and shape the story but who, with any brains, is buying what the mainstream press sells these days? it's not like the lies are terribly clever or plausible.
