@c2acbfae I would expect a schism. Some people are all for aloof-maniac wizards corrupting the church, while others continue worship of the actual gods behind closed doors lest the wizards notice.

@e56cd906 I'm reminded somewhat of how 3.0, 3.5, and PF1 had NPC classes. Commoner was at the bottom, basically serving as the "class of not having a class". Next up were the Expert, Aristocrat, and Warrior. Finally, there were the spellcasting NPC classes: Adept (both the original and Eberron's variants) and Magewright. (There was also an article Keith Baker wrote adding a third one, the Gleaner.)

@e56cd906 While they were mainly intended for statting non-adventurers, no one said you couldn't have a campaign where nobody could take PC classes because you're all ordinary people forced into an extraordinary situation...
